So I just got around to checking my personal email and I got an email from Delta about my upcoming November flight. I had a 7pm flight booked and they have now changed it to 5:39pm. This is not good! I live about an hour to an hour and fifteen (on a good traffic day) away from the airport, I get done with work at 3:30pm it is an inservice day and we are not supposed to take those days off. It is the last flight of the day. I don't know what I should do. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking of explaining the situation to my boss and asking if I can leave an hour early. In the middle school we usually have a long day that we chaperone a trip to a local amusement park and we get comp time for that so I'm going to ask him if I can trade off in advance. Do you think that sounds fair? Hubby isn't home to ask so you guys get the question. I'm pretty mad that Delta changed the time by so much, I purposely booked the 7pm to avoid this situation. I would also like to avoid getting the flight changed to the next day as we have plans with family early that day.
There isnt any other flight at 7:00pm?
I dont know Delta's policies. But sometimes you can rebook to a closer hour and not being charged again.

Me too. It's so relaxing. I'm loving how your trip is going!

Yes, both times we stayed at POR back in the day on our first 2 family trips in '01 and '04, we took the boat to DTD on our first and last trip days. So enjoyable and relaxing.
On our '13 trip we went to DTD and took the boat to POR just to visit it again, and then back to DTD. Luvs that resort...! :)

I'm with Cesar on this one. It simply is impossible to know how many germs have gotten on your hands when you use the bathroom. Regardless of whether you yourself get sick or not, you're touching a lot of stuff outside the bathroom, which other people who might not have as good immune systems may get exposed to. It's not necessary to obsessively wash all day, but washing after you use the bathroom is just a good idea. It also keeps the general human population healthy.

It is quite amazing how easily germs spread. I took a science class several semesters ago. We did a hand washing experiment, where we thoroughly washed our hands and then took a swab of our hands to see how much bacteria was on them We then touched stuff in the classroom and took another swab. It was so gross. If there were that many germs just touching things in the classroom, then I am definitely washing my hands when I go to the bathroom.

But it's not just me saying this. The CDC and the WHO both recommend regular hand washing, especially after using the bathroom. Numerous studies find that there are germs on faucets, toilet handles, and door handles in the bathroom, so it's not just a matter of getting something on your hands. Those germs are already there. It's important to wash your hands, and quite frankly, If Cesar was seeing a lot of people in the bathroom on a cruise ship, which is a contained area, I can understand why he was concerned. Failure to wash one's hands does in fact spread disease.
Not to mention that there are other things that can be contaminated a lot and and are not exactly related to bathrooms. Like money.
Thats why its a golden rule to wash your hands before eating. You can easily contaminate your food (while in your hands there is no problem, as soon things go in.. they can cause havoc.. thats why people get diarrhea and other stomach issues)

Good luck that sounds very fair to me!

I agree, too. @ajrwdwgirl , it's not that your boss wouldn't believe your flight situation, but I don't think it would hurt to show him/her your original confirmation of flight, and then the email from Delta showing that your flight moved up earlier. Your "proof" would be right there with the original booking dates and all--and I really doubt that with those documents in hand, your supervisor wouldn't agree to let you out a bit early that day.
