and unlike the TOS's kirk, this new kirk destroys the enterprise like someone changes socks.
To be fair, the Enterprise was destroyed in Generations and then the new one was very nearly destroyed in First Contact, except Data deactivated the self destruct. There were also times it was very nearly destroyed on TNG, like once when they kept reliving the same day and the Enterprise was destroyed multiple times until Data finally figured out how to stop it when they repeated the day. The Defiant was also destroyed in DS9, and Captain Janeway destroyed the Delta Flyer and it had to be rebuilt. Not to mention the amount of times Voyager was left in horrible disrepair after an encounter with the Borg or some other species. So not the first time.

@figmentfan423 -- hi Figgy! Logged on late morning here, as I was balancing my checkbook account for about an hour! HA! I stink at math. (Eventually, I always end up using an Excel spreadsheet, but I like to torture myself and do the arithmetic by hand. Then again, that's how I always get into trouble! :p )
I can't say I've ever balanced my checkbook. I've written two checks since getting my account, I get paid via direct deposit, and I use online banking, which I check once a week to make sure no one's used my debit card for weird purchases.

Eliminates the math, although I'm pretty good at math. Tutored algebra in high school, tutor accounting in college. But I have no desire to make a living on anything that requires a lot of math. It gives me a headache after a while.

yeah but not an almost total loss like in the new movies lol.
I found weird that they didnt refit or made it stronger like they did in TNG movies every time the ship was heavily damaged (the sovereing had 3 refits if I remember correctly)

I had a pretty great vacation, but on a scale of one to ten, I have to give it about a 7. The reason was all the rain. Because of it, I was not able to see Illuminations, The Star Wars Fireworks, The Electrical Parade, and Night Time at Animal Kingdom. My foot had periods of pain, but the cortisone helped greatly with that. I discovered that if I wore double socks, it cushioned my heel much better. The Halloween Party was wonderful, and so was Harry Potter. We were upgraded at Cabana Bay to 2 connecting suites. It was supposed to be a standard room, and one suite. The kids loved me being in the room with them all the time the last two days. They did not see me at night in the rooms at Pop. I loved Cabana Bay, and Universal overall. Their security system is definitely better, and the bus ride from Cabana Bay to the entrance is a short 10 minutes. I loved the well marked bathroom locations at Universal. Funny, what turns some of us on. I ate at both Three Broomsticks, and The Leaky Cauldron. Spent lots of time in what I am referring to as "Harry Potter Heaven." Riding the train back and forth was great, and the elevators there sure helped my foot. Universal, and Disney both had great cast members. I had a few problems along the way, and they were super helpful. Missed the magic band when we checked in at Universal, but they had a few things better than Disney, and a few minor flaws. Can't help but compare the two. We got lost a lot driving. Annette complained a lot about the Florida highways. The car helped greatly though with Annette's family drama. I guess my next Disney vacation will be to Disneyland next year for my 70th birthday. If my foot problem becomes chronic, I know their parks configuration will greatly help. I was hoping to get more memory maker pics, but the rain prevented that from happening. I ate lots of great food, and talked to lots of great people. I spent one hour waiting to meet Jack and Sally, and of course by the time you reach "your turn", you have made friends with your fellow guests. Jack and Sally, my favorite meet and greet, next to watching Annette's 2 oldest children at Garden Grill hugging Mickey, Pluto, and Chip and Dale.

5 minutes before Illuminations. Take your pick of spots. We chose France for a quick get away to the MK via Boardwalk. Boat was waiting for us.

I'm sorry you missed so much because of the rain!! I really want to go to Universal again, and I want to stay in one of their resorts! Someday. But I'm glad you at least had more good than bad on your vacation, even though the rain put a damper on it.
