It's not that I think I'm so special that people are watching me, but that people are disgusted by me. I'm overweight and I am always worried people are thinking "Good Lord, woman, why aren't you eating in PRIVATE where I don't have to watch you?". Just like nursing babies...people think it's something others just shouldn't have to watch, even though it's perfectly natural and healthy and the baby has to eat, just like anyone. There's this stigma attached to it. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food and it's just humiliating eating where people can see me.
I understand how you feel. If I don't go to the gym for a while, I worry that if I do, people will be watching and judging. But you have to understand: most people are not watching you eat. Most people do not sit there and think, "Wow, she's so fat; she shouldn't be eating all that." And the ones who do are petty and pathetic and you shouldn't even worry about them. This is coming from someone who has struggled with her weight her entire life.

Personally, I'm not at all disgusted by someone who is fat eating. I'd be judging a person with poor table manners before a heavy-set person who is just eating.

Well, the first day of school went pretty well. It was nice to see the kids I had last year and good to see the new kids too. I'm pretty tired tonight though and already looking forward to the weekend! I did have an icky experience though, as I was walking into work I looked up and there were four bats hanging from the overhang. I do not like bats so it was and eeek! moment!:eek:Another teacher was with me and she freaked out too. We saw our superintendent in the hallway and told him about it since one of our English teachers found a snake in her room yesterday and he disposed of it and to us that makes him and expert at critter control. Anyway, he said he knew about the bats and our custodial crew is working on relocating them but they keep coming back. Ewe.....:cautious:
We've had bats around here too. We found one inside our umbrella that covers the table on the deck. It looked like a baby, so we just let it leave. I'm not freaked out by bats, though.

I never read the book, but, you perhaps could tell me. I've been told by many that the Johnny Depp "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is much closer to following the story lines then Willy Wonka. I don't know. I liked both. Willy was a feel good movie and Charlie was a rather dark movie. Well, how could it not be with Mr. Dreary directing it. It would be hard for you to say, if you haven't seen at least small parts of both of them, I realize, but, if you did, what would you say about it?
:jawdrop: I love Tim Burton's work.

Very interesting, busy, full day at work today. I got to the office (we have two; I normally work out of the one closer to home, but they asked me to go to the other one just for today. I got there, and there was a new manager there. I ended the internship about a month ago, so I was rather surprised there was someone new in the office. Apparently he was hired right after I left. I asked him if the manager who hired and trained me over the summer was going to be in the office. He awkwardly said, "Um, she no longer works here." In between me going to work on Wednesday and coming to work today, they fired her. So I basically was hired as a partial replacement.

Rather shocking. In this industry, people don't usually get fired. Sales associates decide they aren't making enough and leave, or they may move to a different office. Interns come and go. This doesn't happen very much. It's really shaken the office. But then as I've gotten into the work more, especially recruiting interns, I realize there was a LOT that was left undone. We have unanswered applications from back in JUNE. That's just...completely unacceptable. So I've got a huge mess to clean up on the recruiting end and almost wish I had to go in Monday so I could continue cleaning up the mess. My boss also made a rather, er, not good recruiting decision yesterday that majorly backfired. I was in the office from 8:30-4:30 and didn't take more than a five minute break to go to the bathroom. Not even lunch. I came home and had a glass of wine.

Boy, that sounds awful. I hope you get it straightened out. I hope your new boss is nice.
I have the same boss technically. The firm's owners are still the same. I report to them now instead of reporting to a manager because, well, I'm one of the managers. The other manager and I are equals and will be working out of different offices, but likely still tag teaming on a lot of issues.

I feel kind of bad for the manager that I replaced. She trained me to do a good bit and likely had no idea one of her interns would end up being her partial replacement. At the same time, given how much has fallen through the cracks, it's no wonder they made this decision. It made today pretty hectic, though. I kind of wish someone had told me that they were letting her go so that I would have been a bit more prepared for stuff like coming in and finding all the passwords had been changed.
