You know, I never actually saw that. We had a dinner package and gave the tickets back because DS was being a brat and Hubby declared himself done long before that. He was ready to go back to the resort at lunchtime already and I was ready to stay there with DD because I didn't think it was fair that she didn't get to have fun because of her brother's behavior, but DS shaped up a bit. That whole day was a total wash, though, so we decided not to go, since I had a fastpass for it for the 2nd AK day. But then the 2nd AK day rolled around and hubby didn't want to do it...he wasn't really into any of the night shows but fantasmic. I missed illuminations 3 times because he didn't feel like it. Finally, on the last Epcot night, he asked "How set are you on seeing Illuminations?" and I said "I'm not missing it. Why?" "Because I thought we could go back to the resort and maybe swim instead." Um no. So I never saw Jungle book, never saw the Star Wars fireworks, only saw Fantasmic once, and same with Wishes, which we had a really carpy spot for. He just was NOT wanting to do evening shows for some reason.

I'm really interested to see how your trip report plays out. I would have been so frustrated by how this paragraph goes...not like you go all the time to Disney. Almost playing out in my head that a month was too long for him with so much family....??? Maybe Disney first next time?
I'll wait to see how your report goes on....

I'm having a good laugh at what this phone's autocorrect does

About 30 minutes ago I was watching my DD rolling via text at my auto correct text to her, I'd fix it fix it again and repeat. I wanted to flip the phone to the wall and she is is just lol'ing over and over. It wasn't pretty. I'd look at it, it be right, hit send and oy...

We have never done less than 14 nights. Anything less seems like a waste. Admittedly we do the other parks in that timescale as well as a day spent at the mall/outlet shops.

We never use to do more less than 14-16 days. The park tickets just became next to nothing the longer you stayed. Now with us it is a matter of trying to balance all adult work schedules and vacation time. And costs have become beyond nutty.

Since most of their workforce (at least 50% if I remember correctly) are students.. they can fire them anytime. So I dont think they have much overhead if they dont sell rooms, they constantly close down blocks to inflate occupancy levels higher. If @ParentsOf4 statistics are correct. Then theres rumors that they count DVC in their stats too.
Now they are way more interested in converting everything in to DVC to keep customers tied. Even if they end going more to UNI and other parks than Disney.

True.

But then they get DVC'ers like @epcotisbest who just did a trip to his DVC time and didn't enter the park and spent next to nothing expense wise. Great trip report by the way, so different.

Between the rebellion and the hopping to other parks there is some fallout to the beyond over the top price increases. Yes some DVC'rs can afford it but Disney is starting to outprice their most loyals too. Disney isn't doing this month and half bring your friends for half price 'cause they found Jesus. It will be interesting to see how the next few years play out with Future World, Studios also a mess and Rivers and Avatar still in limbo. Don't get me wrong I still love Disney but since I've been to the World really the only worthy 'new' is the Frozen overlay in the World Showcase and on the flipside so many things closed or still under construction.

We see mice in our King Sooper's grocery store, during the day!:hungover:

Anyone report that violation to the public health department? We had a supermarket out here recently that was reported, and the health department shut them down for days until the store came back up to code.

That would be the last time I entered that grocery. If you are seeing mice during the light hours it is so much worse at night.

In a heartbeat I'd report and find a clean grocer.

Our October trip is 5 days in the park. I told hubby to make it short. Just the right amount of time to me. June is another story, as the kids and grandkids are with us, and sometimes we go back to the hotel to play games.

My kids would have had us up on charges if we took them back to the resort to play games. Now they did enjoy a swim when we got back to the parks late at night followed by the hot tub. But no, they were all about the parks, mini golf etc. We on the other hand were and still are a game family at home. We have a weird tradition that started as they aged out of toys for Christmas. We divided us up to teams and competed in all sorts of games on Christmas Day. Winners got $10 gift cards to local restaurants and places like Dave and Busters. We have had so much fun with that over the years. By the way, my DS-he doesn't like to loose, lol.

Just like clothes, who wants to wear three t-shirts at a time to be decent? It's a money grab for sure!

I'm finding the blurrr between the young and aging clothing. I am small and thin. I don't fit into womans clothing so I fit more into the Miss clothing or the young clothing. Still I am careful to dress appropriately. The paper thin clothes I am not going to wear. Seriously I have grown children. Yet I'm not a Grandma, I like cute things. It is a real hunt to find one layer clothing that actually fits my body frame. I look at some ladies my age and what they wear and I just laugh. Seriously trying to relive your youth is just visually wrong.

Can I tell you how long it took me to find 2 swim suits this year in my size that was appropriate? Sure I could find ones that fit but so not appropriate for my age. Frustrating.

Finding a grown up suit in any size was a challenge this year

@Gabe1 and @betty rose , I also remember making forts in the basement of our house, with my brothers and sister. Sometimes, if we were stuck inside on a rainy day and couldn't go outside to play, we'd get creative and construct forts. We'd use those fold-up tables, blankets, chairs, boxes, and anything else lying around. We each had our own room in the fort, (shielded with a blanket "door"); and in order to enter someone else's room, you had to say the password they demanded. :joyfull:
