I thought that these new fireworks were ll done and better than the previous as well. My sister and her daughter are down in WDW right now too and saw them last night as well. I haven't heard what they thought of them yet. Sometimes I question their opinions, especially since they loved the Jungle Book show at AK.
You know, I never actually saw that. We had a dinner package and gave the tickets back because DS was being a brat and Hubby declared himself done long before that. He was ready to go back to the resort at lunchtime already and I was ready to stay there with DD because I didn't think it was fair that she didn't get to have fun because of her brother's behavior, but DS shaped up a bit. That whole day was a total wash, though, so we decided not to go, since I had a fastpass for it for the 2nd AK day. But then the 2nd AK day rolled around and hubby didn't want to do it...he wasn't really into any of the night shows but fantasmic. I missed illuminations 3 times because he didn't feel like it. Finally, on the last Epcot night, he asked "How set are you on seeing Illuminations?" and I said "I'm not missing it. Why?" "Because I thought we could go back to the resort and maybe swim instead." Um no. So I never saw Jungle book, never saw the Star Wars fireworks, only saw Fantasmic once, and same with Wishes, which we had a really carpy spot for. He just was NOT wanting to do evening shows for some reason.

I love this picture. It cracks me up! I was telling my friend's husband about it while we were staying there in Florida with them. He mentioned the princess run, and that some people, even men, wear tutus. I said you had done the Princess 5k and worn a tutu and he insisted there was no such thing...the princess run is ONLY a half marathon. But it WAS a 5k, right?

Hahaaa...!!! Thanks to @Cesar R M!!! I love it too, and so do DWifey and the kiddos, thanks...!!! :hilarious:

Yet another Disney expert.
It is the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend. But, the weekend also includes a 10K and a 5K.
The 5K is on Friday morning, the 10K on Saturday morning, and the Half Marathon on Sunday morning.

We flew in late Wednesday night 2/17/16. On Thursday morning we went to the MK for rope drop, then, in the early afternoon, we went to the RunDisney Expo to pick up our numbers, t-shirts, etc., for the 5K on Friday morning. Then, back to the MK to close out the night with Wishes. We were up at 3:30a the next morning for the 5K.
After the run/walk ;), we got our medals, ate breakfast in the runners tent, and then headed to Epcot for the rest of the day.
After spending most of Saturday morning at DTD/DSprings, we flew out early Saturday afternoon.
It was a bit of a whirlwind trip, but, a total BLAST...!!!!! :joyfull: :)

It's actually not a very bright Marketing strategy. Hubby and I were talking about this the other day. DD had her heart SET on buying a pair of minnie ears...it was the one thing she wanted as a souvenir. We had given the kids each a certain amount of their money to take with them, and they got some from my in-laws and a family friend, too. So we went in search of the perfect pair...but even the simplest, cheapest ones are over $20. The ones she wanted were $27, and she didn't feel that was a good deal...not worth what you got, even in Disney. Whereas, if they were to cut the price in half, they'd probably sell 3 times as many and end up making MORE money than they make now at the exorbitant prices. It just makes so much more sense. Same with resorts and restaurants...there are some that end up having a lot of empty rooms/tables because people just can't afford the prices. We would NEVER have been able to afford the prices for our vacation if it wasn't for the substantial discounts through the European site. But because we got a cheaper room, we were able to stay longer, which is more money in their pockets because that's longer that we're in the parks, buying things. We had the dining plan, but we didn't end up using all of our credits (so much food!) and there were some things that weren't included in the plan, so we paid for those out of pocket...that's all stuff that we wouldn't have been able to do because of the massive price tag Disney charges. If they would make their prices reasonable across the board, they'd sell MUCH more, and end up making even more profit. By trying to milk the consumer, they just make it out of the price range of the average consumer, who then goes and spends their dollars elsewhere. They could be making so much more than they do now.

If with the higher salaries there is no way we could take our kids to WDW one or two times a year for 14-16 days anymore, even in early fall as we did. Every aspect of our vacation escalated so much. The trips would have had to have been far less frequent or much shorter in duration. The economy at the moment is really kinda stable now and even still there have only been a couple of weeks that have been crazy busy at WDW. Disney for a month and a half will be heavily discounting park tickets for pass holders bringing guests with them. They wouldn't be doing that if the bottom line was all that great. Add in Avatar is taking forever and a day (I believe longer than it took to build the initial park now) Rivers still not up and running, Jungle not overly well received and the Studios under construction many guests are spending some of their vacation time competing parks in the area. I know I would have taken my kids given the issues to Legoland for a day or two when small.

Blah! IF my kids wanted to live at home for college for whatever their reasons would have been I would have accepted that but I did not encourage that. My DD did a dorm 3.5 years of college, she graduated early. My DS did a couple years of a dorm (his was not nearly as nice as DDs) but then he rented an apartment with friends. The apartment with him anyhow had its good, bad and UGLY sides.

My DD good friend from childhood thru highschool, they were swimmers from babe's.
Her Mom was so controlling with both DD, this one she liked, the adopted older one not so much. So when it came time for her to go away to college her Mom started applying for jobs in the DD college town. Mind you the other DD was still at home and she was/is married. Though secretly I think the other DD and her DH would have loved a 4 year break lol.
Well, that's the thing...my mom was super controlling with me. She let my brother do his own thing most of the time, but she was very strict with me and I never rebelled. I was the "prude" in high school because I didn't drink, I didn't date, I didn't go out past dark, never snuck out of my house...I was just the typical good girl. And I kept thinking "It's only for a few years" because as soon as I got to college, I'd be living on my own and I wouldn't HAVE to follow the ridiculous rules about being home by the time it got dark. So when she started saying she wanted to move to the college town with me so I could live with her, I told her she could move, but I wasn't going to live with her. She insisted that then there was no reason for her to move. Well....fine....then don't. But she couldn't understand why I didn't want to save money and I told her I wanted the experience of living in the dorm, that they did activities and things that you couldn't be part of if you didn't live there, and that you always knew what was going on on campus because it was posted in the dorms. I could hardly tell her that the reason I didn't want to live with her was because I wanted to actually go out on a date with a boy at some time in my life, and that I'd LIKE to see what it looks like after dark without my 6'4" brother hovering over me, and that I didn't want to get the 3rd degree if I had some eyeliner on. I wanted to actually have a LIFE. I never went to parties, I never drank in college, I didn't experiment the way a lot of kids do, but I just wanted to be able to be a normal person and not be mortified when someone asked if I wanted to go here or there because it was "past my curfew". I didn't want to HAVE a curfew. I wanted it to be MY decision when I wanted to come home. But I couldn't explain that to my mother without her thinking I was the most promiscuous scarlet woman to ever live. So I just had to say flat out, no, I won't live with you even if you do move there and leave it at that. I think she was angry about that until the day she died...that was the worst possible thing I could do to her. I think she was honestly just scared that something would happen to me if she didn't have these crazy rules (nothing happens in daylight, right?) and she wasn't ready to be alone, so she just clung to me and wouldn't let me grow up. I had to just put my foot down and say "I'm legally an adult now. Please let me be one."

Ok so I WASN'T crazy. I was sure it was a 5k. But yes...he's actually an "expert" on a LOT of things, if you ask him. I don't know how many times I was told I had planned this or that wrong (it was mostly advice I got here or in the Unofficial guide, which he claims to know much more than they do, but doesn't want to share his tricks, or the blogs I read) and how, if I'd only consulted him, HE could have told me ....
This is why I do not like my friend's husband much. I'm sure he means well, but I researched the HECK out of this trip and to be condescended to as though I'm an ignorant child who needs a firm hand...I don't do well with that.

That's exactly it. They've made it unattainable for the majority of people who would want to experience Disney. So they are bleeding right now because everyone is going to the other parks instead, when, if they would just have reasonable prices, people would flock there to take advantage of it. If you are charging 500 per night in a resort, and it's only half full, that's half the resort that's making you no money. Whereas if you reduced it to 350 a night, you might have a full resort and you'd be making way more than you make at 500 with only half the reservations. 350 is way better than zero! Why do they not get this concept?

I wonder if it will REALLY shock @Mr Ferret 88 when I tell him I don't like coffee OR tea. I will drink tea DROWNING in honey, IF I am really sick and need something to soothe my throat. But it has to be very weak on the tea and heavy on the honey for me to choke it down. I won't go near coffee (or anything coffee flavored) with a 10 foot pole.

My niece is visiting for a couple days. Yesterday we went to the zoo in St.Paul, and today we walked in a 5k race my town is having. Then we took her to see Petes Dragon. Fun times and I was really impressed by Petes Dragon as I was not a big fan I of the original. There were even parts where I teared up.

Here's a couple shots from the conservatory at the zoo. The zoo and gardens are free.

And our 5k took us out into the country, not where I normally walk. It was pretty and the rain held off until the end.

And no, we weren't leading the pack.

Now it's time to go to the tractor parade! Then grilled pizza. We had the horse parade last night. There are fireworks tonight too, the aren't Disney but we may be listening to wishes in the car as they go off.
That put's Denver conservatory to shame. Glad you are getting to have fun !

Regarding those Lays chips with different flavors that you and @ajrwdwgirl were discussing, once again, you must be in a test market for those flavors. I've never seen those out here. This drives me crazy when certain foods or beverages are distributed to other areas of the country, and we don't have them!! :banghead: I may or may not like the flavors, but I'd be curious to try them.
this thing about testing flavors.. reminds me of the internet jokes related to the "flavor generator" by frito lay.

including "white people tears", " 'murica" , "placenta", "7th grade locker room" , "everone forgot my birthday" , "breakfast with cops" and "check your privilege" flavours :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Funny how last month JK Rowling was done with Harry Potter and now she's back in the news release more carp. It's time to let Harry Potter die. Let it go into pop culture history.

She's worst than sport stars who want to come back
Why?
fans demanded more and she HAD to do more.
I dont think she was that happy when other people managed her creation (the cursed child play for example).
And its not like Star Wars or Star Trek suddenly "stopped" returning with newer stuff.
