The doctor said to keep icing my foot. I have been negligent in that area, but I promise myself to do better. He also wants me to come back next Thursday, and he is going to give me some oral cortisone that I can use during my trip. I feel a bit more confident in the doctor after today. He thinks I might have a minor stress fracture, and those don't always show up on X-rays and take maybe a few months to heal.

I'm also bummed, because it looks my trigeminal neuralgia is coming back in the right side of my face. I was paying my copay to the receptionist at the foot doctor, and my face started hurting pretty bad.

Just curious, is there anything topical that you can use to numb out the pain on the side of your face? (I know nothing about the specific type of neuralgia you have; but I was just thinking about some general types of pain, and sometimes creams like BenGay, for example, can keep some pain at bay for a few hours at a time.)

I wish you well with both medical issues you're dealing with, and I hope that you'll have some relief by the time you go to Disney.

This is a chit chat thread so I am going to chit chat. My Summer although great has just flown by. School starts back up for us teachers on September 1st which seems just around the corner. That is a double whammy for my household as both I and my girlfriend are both teachers. OK, I guess that was more of a rant than just chit chat.

You're lucky to have extra time off in the summer, so enjoy every minute of it. (I'm jeaous!)

By the way, we have another nice member @ajrwdwgirl who is also a teacher, and is on Chit Chat quite often. So now we have two teachers here! :) There are many different professions that our members are involved in and it makes it really fun in Chat Chat to learn new things.

Most rediculous August weather in my memory.
No rain for the first half of the month, with temps in the high 90's - low 100's, and heat indices as high as 116.
It's been raining buckets off and on the last 3 days, and is expected to continue through Thursday.
It starts up again on Sunday, and is predicted to continue through Tuesday.
Normally, during July and August the weatherman/woman could just go on vacation because it's pretty much the same forecast every SINGLE day...100+ (101-112) and clear.
Our HIGH today was 78...that's pretty much our normal overnight low this time of year...!

I love being a teacher and especially of Physically Education and Health. I also have the pleasure to work with several talented young ladies who are on the Varsity Softball team. We also don't get out until June 23rd.

I'm a teacher too. I have 7-9th grade, science and a section of social studies. What do you teach? I have to go to inservice Tuesday & Wednesday of this week and two days next week before the kids start on the 1st.

The summer really has been fantastic. I'm not looking forward to going back at all. I still have things to do around the house that I didn't have time for. Too busy going to Disney and playing around on here! :)

I developed trigeminal neuralgia back in December of 2014. I had it for about 6 months, and then thankfully it went away. At it's worst period, I went to the ER. I had a CT scan, and EEG, an MRI, and it wasn't caused by anything severe like cancer, or anything that requires surgery. I also had a bad cold when it started, and that stressed my body, which also brought on the pain. Thankfully, I have been able to deal with the sharp shooting pain that occurs in my face. Medicine is usually prescribed for people who have the condition, and are in daily constant pain. My pain is not constant. Just annoying. Sometimes it wakes me up from a sound sleep. It comes and goes. More some days than others. Basically, the pain is shooting down the main nerves in one's face. It usually occurs just one one side, and in my case it's my right side. Topical ointments really wouldn't do anything, since the pain is sporadic. My last bout had to run it's course, I guess. The body actually heals itself, and that is why when I am under stress it escalates, and when I relieve the stress, the pain lessens. My age, has a lot to do with this as well. I am no spring chicken. I have read up a lot about this condition, and every thing I read rings true with what I am experiencing. I am just so thankful that I don't suffer with this condition 24/7 like some people have.

Hee hee . . . guys and cars. ;) I know I'm practical and boring, but why do people buy an expensive vehicle noted for speed--that they can't completely enjoy--when there are posted speed limits everywhere, and they could get a ticket for speeding? Just recently, I saw on the local news about a guy in a Lambo that got pulled over by a trooper on a NH highway for excessive speeding. (And, not to mention that Lambos and other expensive, fast cars are absolute cop magnets--as soon as they see them, the radar detection devices get turned on.) Myself, I just drive a little, 2007 fart car-- the cops can't be bothered with me! Then again, I hardly ever drive above 40 around here, and rarely venture out on to the highways. Guess I'm not exactly a speed demon. :D

Hah!
It's Texas. Let's just say there are still a few places 'round here where you can stretch 'er legs a bit... :cautious:  ;)

I teach High School Physical Education and Health as well as coach Girls Varsity Softball in the Spring. My girlfriend who also teaches at the school and that is how we met teaches 10th Grade English and Drama as well as Directs the yearly Musical Production. We are both extremely busy during the school year. Only the new hires have the inservice next week and orientation.

Ugh. :( I hear that face pain can be wicked. Hope the flare up subsides quickly. And yeah stress fractures often don't show on x-rays and when they do it is usually when they are healed. Frustrating. But ligaments, tendons and muscle tears often don't show up on x-rays, they used an ultra sound for my diagnosis 'cause I didn't want an MRI and that goes with that.

Cortisone is helpful and you say you don't have much of an appetite. Cort usually makes you hungry and thirsty so you might be able to enjoy some more food and beverages while at Disney and Universal. *bright side* And just think of how many more restrooms you will get to experience. ;) Don't forget to pull up the lists of the nicest restrooms in WDW before ya leave. :inlove:

Hope your news is encouraging next Thursday. *pixie dust*

Too funny! Maybe you should have taken a big sip of wine and said some random grade number, like 8th grade! That plum wine looks nice.
It was SO good. It was sweet, but tart, and had a kick to it. I drink mostly wine, and before I was 21 (basically from age 16 up) my mom would let me drink at home or when we were in Hilton Head (two states where it was legal), and since neither of us likes beer, it was mostly wine. I can honestly say that this was the best wine I've ever had.
