Since I have an appointment with the foot doctor today, I have put off my laundry day until tomorrow. My bus rides are very close to Wrigley Field, and they are playing a double header today. I guess I will have to leave a little bit earlier in order to make it to the doctor on time. My foot is somewhat better, but sometimes it still throbs. My vacation is 13 days away, and only time will tell how my foot reacts to our time in the parks. I have planned a bit differently for myself. Of course the others are free to rise and shine early, and stay out late if they wish. They are all mostly younger, and stronger than me. Although Annette's aunt may have difficulty herself, since this is her first theme park experience.

In other news, my grandmha is frustrating us a lot.
We keep telling her not to carry dishes, pick up stuff. but she insists.. infact she makes sure we are on the second floor.. so she sneaks to try to do these we forbid her to do.
She CANNOT CARRY ANYTHING NOW. but she seriously is a mule.. stubborn.. I once had to literally dive to prevent her from falling after she insisted in carrying 4 heavy ceramic saucers.
Now I just told her 30 minutes ago that if she wanted to go out, so I could get her chair outside... (we had to pack everything inside since it rained VERY hard yesterday)... she said NO, that she would go outside in the afternoon.
No less than 5 minutes ago, she was trying to pick up the heavy chair by herself.. :banghead:
Poor grandma...it must be so hard to not be able to do the things you want to do, and to feel like you are constantly burdening the people you love to do those things for you. My dad is the same way...he WANTS to feel independent and like he doesn't need any help. And he doesn't want to have someone else do things for him when maybe they want to spend their time doing something else. But it's so sweet of you to want to help her.

For this hotel, I understand as it is a convention hotel. The only thing I disagree with is you'll pay an extra adult fee if you're 18-20 to stay in the same room as your parents. I think if they are going to make the minimum check-in age 21, you should be able to stay in your parents' room without paying extra.

Car rentals are kind of annoying. I think it should be based on number of years licensed, not age. My other friend who I was talking about taking is 25, but she's had more accidents and more tickets than I have (or that the friend who I am bringing, who is also 21). I was also liscened at 16 whereas she was 19, so she hasn't been driving that much longer than me. If we had gone, I probably would have just paid the fee for me to drive rather than have her do something stupid and us end up in a car accident. I don't let her drive when we're together; I drive. I think it should be 18+ to rent, 5 years licensed to not pay an extra fee, regardless of age. Thankfully, since we're 21, most car rental places for just an extra fee. Which seems to be $25 across the board in SoCal.
Does it go by statistics for car rentals? I remember with insurance, statistically, younger males have more accidents than younger females, so the rate goes down at a certain age for women, but later for men. It's all based on the national statistics on car accidents by age and gender. Without knowing every client personally, they can't really say how likely a particular person is to have an accident.

For Northern IL it is very hot and the dew points and humidity are way up there. Every time I go out I remind myself my face is not instantly freezing as I walk out the door and I do not have to shovel the humidity. As I (try) to walk Walt I don't have to spend 10 minutes bundling up and stomping on my boots.

Life is Good. :) Walt on the other hand loves snow. This heat has him walking three or four blocks and he is done. Jumps in his pool and comes in and lays on the A/C vent of his pickings.
My body doesn't handle the heat well. When we were in South Dakota, it got up to 103 one day and I felt AWFUL. My head was pounding, I felt nauseous and I just felt horrid. At least with the cold I can wrap up in a blanket, or put on another sweater, or drink some hot chocolate...there seems to be nothing I can do that's effective against the heat.

Statistically, those under 25 have more accidents than those 25 and over. But, there is the factor that those under 25 are newer drivers, which is why I think it should be based on number of years driving, not age.

It really does depend on the person, though. I've had two hit and run accidents since I've been driving. I could tell you exactly what happened, what I was doing, description of the other car, and even though I had a concussion the second time, I could still give a clear statement. My dad, as my lawyer, did the recorded interview with me for the insurance company and said I did better than most adults he sees. Then there was another time where I backed three feet out of a parking spot (with an adult passenger who was looking as I was backing out) and hit a car. I got out and realized the car was in the wrong lane. I took photos, and the insurance company, which told me that they typically find that type of situation completely my fault, found us equally at fault. I have no tickets either. The friend going to DL with me is similar: good driver, has had an accident but handled it well, no tickets. She's the same age as me.

My best friend, who is 25 and I love dearly as a friend, is a terrible driver. Multiple tickets, and not even for speeding. Stupid stuff, like driving up a one way street. Another for failing to obey MD's move over law (in Maryland, if there is an emergency vehicle with its lights on, you are required to move over at least one lane and slow down, or if you can't move, you have to move to the shoulder or as far to the side of the road as possible and stop). She recently had an accident, and when I asked her what happened, she couldn't tell me. Needless to say, she was found completely at fault. I don't let her drive me at home unless absolutely necesary, and iff I had taken her to CA with me, I would have insisted on driving, in spite of the underage fee.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more glad I am that I decided to take my long-time friend with me. She's got a lot of common sense and has done a lot of travelling, and being so far away from home in a more unfamiliar place, that's the person I want with me. I'll take my best friend, who admittedly has less common sense and travels much less, to WDW one day since WDW is as familiar to me as home is.

While slightly better Seniors also have icky records for crashes. I wasn't happy to read that because I'm in that AARP demographic now so inching closer to that Senior category.

The one statistic that is getting blurred is young drivers. Still teen males are above female teens by leaps with the amount of crashes. While insurance companies use 25 as a benchmark, 25 is unfortunate to those actually having to pay the car insurance as the range where most of the elevated crashes happens with young drivers is 15-20, 21-25 seems to fall more in line with the over 25 statistics.
Like we all know it is how the statistics are compiled. Some are flatly by age group, others are compiled by average amount of miles driven to crash ratio. Seniors come out very different as far a safety since many drive so few miles yet seem to have more oops'. Then you have to also look at the seniors and the amount of fatal crashes vs denting their own car trying to park in their own garage.

I understand. We have had some real humid/high dew point weeks with action ozone days where the air is flat out unhealthy this summer.
Me, when the days are really blucky I go out early in the day and late at night. The evening is getting a tad trickier right now cause the baby skunks have left their Momma's and they are freak'n everywhere.

I have a gazebo in the yard, it has a good fan, makes it nice in the evening. Over the weekend I plopped myself in an innertube and floated down the lazy river and may have gone down a few waterslides. Our Riverwalk is generally 10 degrees cooler in the summer than the regular neighborhood streets, I like to ride my bike and walk Walt there during hotter days. The green trees and pretty flowers are very cheerful vs the sticks I look at most of the year making everything look dark gray through the winter. Shy of the flooded roads rare am I trapped indoors like I am so many months of the year with the cold and snow. Best of all I don't have to shovel the snow or drive in it during the warm month.

I hate snow. Never do I wish for a White Christmas.

It may seem minor but I wish that they would make a left and a right hand for those Mickey hands items. The oven mitts drive me crazy. They have a white side and a black side. Both are set up as just one hand, I think the left. So there is no way to prevent getting the white side dirty. I am happy to report that so far today, that is the extent of my biggest problem. That has to be a good thing.

And on a positive note:

I tried your idea of nuking the corn on the cob in the micro in the husk-cutting off bottom and squeezing the sweet goodness right out of the nest...result-it is freak'n magic! Not one bit of silk. In all the ears I cooked I only had issues with one early on in my TEST. Sliced off another 1/4 inch and even that one popped out.

Well done Sir! Well done! *applause* :hungry:

I am here to serve. Glad it worked for you. I found it so much easier and quicker the the traditional method.

Thanks, we were so upset with this, we are trying to find someone that will be as kind as our last Dr. These people are hard to find. We are looking where to turn, I'm sure we will find someone. I love your kind words. We really bonded with this Dr. but, the practice own's the patients. The Dr's. can;t notify the patients. That's a terrible system out here. I would like to know it this is the system in the U.S. I'm thinking of moving.

OK, I just had a very similar situation with my Mom and her foot doctor, she didn't like the guy Doc in the practice at all but really was impressed with the lady Doc. Her practice had a non compete clause so they cannot notify clients where they are heading to. This is not uncommon in many professions not limited to medical by any means.

What I did for about a month was continue to google search the doctors full name with the state included in the search on google. About a month later I found her, Bingo. Her new practice made an announcement of their new partner. Like many of us Docs at times take a vacation before starting up with their new practice. You are likely to find the Doc again if you just search once a day and Ferret the Doc out.
