You know how in the Closing Ceremonies they say if the Olympics were a success. Well if they were being completely honest with this one it certainly was not with all the pool issues, water issues for kayaking and rowing, and now these muggings
theres a lot of thievery that was not reported btw.
like those thiefs that stole 40,000 camera gear from a photographer right infront of a restaurant.
then the same band of thieves tried to sneak in to the olympic venue with the photographer's credentials to steal more.
except the real photogrspher recognized the thiefs and got 2 of them arrested. but who knows if he recovered his 40k worth of gear

Yea, but I'm referring to Windows 10 itself. I hated the way they tricked me into loading it. A window appeared and asked if I wanted to upgrade for free... Windows 10. They gave me two options one was download later or start download now. I didn't want either so I just closed the window. 15 minutes later they were downloading "10". Once they were done, Window 7 was gone forever and I had to figure out "10". I guess it was OK, but, is surely was sneaky and vague about what was about to happen. It never said, if you don't choose one of those two options we are going to load it anyway. Really ticked me off. But, there is not much I could have done about it at the time.
the irony is, that a microsoft spokesman said first that it was a feature, then as bug, then removed the patch that forced the upgrade, then radded it again later.

You know who I blame a lot for this..... The Olympic Committee. Obviously they did not do a good enough investigation of the city of Rio before choosing them as the host country for these Olympics. There needs to be some serious guidelines met for a city to even put in a bid and the Committee needs to do a thorough investigation of everything involved with that city before even allowing that bid to go through.

Spent the afternoon and evenin' at mom and pops, partially celebrating a nephews 10th birthday. My brothers family celebrated it proper on his actual birthday on Friday.
Just another excuse for us to all get together...! ;)
Mom and pop are doin' really well, btw. Pop's lost a lot of weight, and looks great...! :)

Not that this helps now, but there was an option to roll back to your previous OS after installation for the first month of having 10.

Now that I'm very used to 10, if I have to use 7 or 8, I'm like...

As you can see, we came back early 94 is too hot for us.

We have now had almost a month of high dew points, humidity and heat. Still I can get out in the morning and again in the evening when the temps come down to my comfort level. Still so much better than winter and dealing with the snow and ice along with the freak'n cold. Though I have to say my A/C bills have been off the charts, many years since they have been this high in the summer.

Hope you still had some yummy meals.

Ours is 17 years old. When hubby worked, I could go most of the day without air-conditioning, hubby has to have it. I go around in a sweater and he is comfy!

Yep, there are lots of thermostat wars in homes and offices. My DD office is always cold winter and summer. On her welcome day (1st day) there was a big basket with balloons. Inside the basket was snacks, tea, mug (they have a hot cold water cooler) At the bottom of the basket was a big thick blanket. A good chunk of the employees work all day with a blanket on their laps, one woman wears a snuggy. DD is just a 100# and is 5'4", there isn't any meat on those bones.

Facebook blocked adblock, and within a few days, adblock defeated facebook's "block" (for the reasons Cesar RM mentioned). It was a waste of programmer time, frankly.

Time will tell. I love the wars of programmers, it is entertaining.

Still I feel for owners like @wdwmagic as Ads are how they can survive or Premium Memberships. Several Disney sites, once successful have tanked over the last year.
Blocking doesn't always have a nice outcome.

I dont think they care, similar to FIFA, its all about money and who corrupts who to get the bid.

im definitively one of these that might need to get into full snuggy if temps drop lower than 15C lol.

I use Windows 10 at home and Windows 8.1 at work....I have more issues at work than at home.

I waited a long time before my personal laptop went to 10. I never had a great deal of luck with new launches. I do the same with my
iPhone and tablet, wait until for everyone else to be the guinea pig for the patches and when it settles down then I go with it. I can't say I've had many issues with anything beyond Vista, that was just an epic failure.

Do you actually fry the French fries? I only use the oven to make then, then I only have to throw away the foil I line the cookie sheet with. I also make my bacon on a broiler pan in the oven. It is less messy as the fat drips to the bottom of the pan and I can put it in the oven and go away for about 15 minutes and not have to stand around frying it.

I only fried french fries once and I through the deep fat frier away. I put bacon in a disposable tin. I buy them at Sam's about 20 for $6.
I put the bacon out on the grill on low and it browns up nicely and then toss the tin when the fat firms up. Done.

I've always been the cook. I cook well. I never accepted demands. I take requests though like can we soon have lasagna, or braised stew etc. and I work that in pretty quickly. This week I made squash risotto. It was so disgustingly sweet. I'm always the first to saw ewe when something isn't up to my own standards though.

Yeah that be chilly. I've been known to kick the a/c down to low 60's f when it is very hot out and the dew and humidity numbers are high. I also kick the heat down in the winter to low 60's. Part of it is my age and part of it is the mattress which is so freak'n comfy and cost a fortune. Unfortunately it has both pillow top and memory foam. The memory foam retain so much heat. It was the wrong recipe for me at this time of my life.

Not good news for Brazilian tourism for sure. And that Judo player was mugged a few days ago too. I read in the article a Portuguese official and some Australians were mugged recently too.

When I heard that this morning I said the same thing about Tourism too. I was surprised about the Judo athlete being targeted. I've yet to hear if they are armed muggers or gang thugs.

Don't bother with 8, but if your drivers are available, 10 is actually a solid move.

It does require some minor tweaks to get it running well, but not much.

The only downside is if you utilize any of the Win 7 Media Center features. Those were pretty much cut out of 10. But, otherwise, quite a solid OS.

For disclosure, I have 146 systems I manage, all Win 10 except 4, and those 4 I'm upgrading this week, and have been for about a year now. I'm quite aware of the OS and what it does, and doesn't do well (though there isn't much that it doesn't do well, aside from the annoyances of smartscreen and enhanced firewall, and the fact that for some reason MS seems to think that Edge is an AWESOME pdf viewer, so even after you install adobe reader, you have to go into default programs and assign all the defaults to adobe from time to time...again, though, for most users this isn't an issue, and won't be).

Ha! Lots of info there. This reminds me of the tech thread on the members forum and likely one @betty rose doesn't visit much either. Me I hand my devices over to my DD when I need help. Betty usually hands it over to her DH. We have some varying skill levels with tech on this thread.
