Today Hubby and I took a trip the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. He had done a wedding there a couple weeks ago and he thought I would enjoy it he was right. It has 1200 acres of gardens, prairies, and different wooded areas. And they do research gardening in junction with the University of Minnesota (they developed a special type of apples there known as the honeycrisp). I had never been there before and it was GORGEOUS! We took a tram tour first and the guide kept talking about all the different seasonal things that happen there. So as hubby and I were touring around we kept talking about how cool it would be in the fall, winter, and summer. So we ended up purchasing an annual membership which really wasn't bad ($80 for both of us, and it is usually $12 a person). Anyway, I thought I would share some pictures of the pretty ground with you. And I'm looking forward to sharing more as you move through the seasons!
There were featuring in some of the garden areas a Big Bugs exhibit with large wooden bug sculptures.

This is part of the prairie. Every fall and spring they do a prairie burn (to enrich soil and to kill of sappling trees from the forest so it remains prairie). The mowed area is the divide line one gets the burn in the fall and the other side in the Spring.

More prairie in bloom (it was overcast today so the pictures don't pop as much as they did in person.)
