USA Today reports that the restraints are velcro. That sounds very safe. Not. They also reported that the ride has an age requirement of 14, so someone that young should not have been on the ride. The kid was also the son of a Kansas state Representative.

Seems the slide may never reopen. Future of that waterpark might also be in question.
plot twist.. what if the kid was actually forced "let" ride by the rep who forced his way ? (aka used his power to override the age limits of the staff) ?

Welcome to our world. You are free to talk about anything on your mind. Or what you are doing, just about anything, except politics and religion . This is a moderator rule for Chit Chat. It's a fun group of people. When do you start school? Or are you being home schooled? I'm a grandmother of two adorable grandkids, one is 13 and the other is 9. My hubby just retired recently, from electrical engineering. I went to college for art. Tell us about what you like to do, or any activities, home or school that you enjoy. Nice to have you with us.

I meant to post this earlier but I got caught up in my cleaning. Hubby, dog, and I went for a walk this morning and we walked by the corn field and the sun was coming up and there was a light fog it was really pretty. My phone picture doesn't really capture it that well but hope you enjoy it anyway.

That picture reminds me of southern Indiana, during corn growing season. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, Well I'm Kylie and I am going into the 8th grade this year. School starts for me on September 1st. I go to a Christian School and I have been going there since I was 4 years old in Pre-K. My Big Sis is in the 11th grade there as well. Things I like are Disney, Going to Church and Youth Group, having Sleepovers with friends, playing Soccer, and listening to music. I have been blessed to go to Walt Disney World in June and it was my only time ever and I loved every minute of it. Back when I was 3 months old and my sister was 3 years old my daddy was killed in the line of duty as a Police Officer leaving my Mom as a Young Widow. She has worked so hard her life and provides for us so much. I am so blessed to have my family and if that is the only time we will be able to vacation at WDW together than I will at least have the wonderful memories of that trip. My favorite Disney character is of course Tinkerbell and I love the movie The Legend of the NeverBeast. My favorite Disney song is from the first Tinkerbell movie sung by Selena Gomez called, "Fly To Your Heart".

Oy. I'm sorry. Prayers for you and your family. Sad.
Thanks. We're hoping he'll pull through, but he's been in such poor health for so many years. My dad would likely have to go home and then come back because they're Jewish, which means they bury their dead extremely quickly. It would likely just be him as taking my brother home in the middle of a trip would be extremely upsetting for him, and my mom, while she has every confidence that I'd be able to handle him, does not want to put me in that position.

Hopefully he'll pull through, though, at least for now.

Just got a call from my step grandmother. They evidently rushed my grandfather to the hospital (my dad's father). They're not sure he's going to make it.

It never rains, but it pours.

I'm sorry to hear that. I don't want to sound insensitive, but how will this impact your trip? Will you be cutting the WDW trip short?

I just read your post so never mind about the trip part.

That would be too hard on my brother. Likely my dad would go home and then come back. They probably would also schedule a memorial service for after we get back so everyone can get into town.

Thanks for sharing. My grandson is already in school, we live near Denver, they started today. Such a short summer for our guys. I'm sorry to hear about your daddy, and your mom, working so hard. We all love Disney on here. There is so much to love about Disney. Our first trip was when our Daughter was two. She still loves Disney, and has written a couple books, to help new people to get to know Disney and how the system works. She also has a web blog. She is the "all Disney girl, all of the time."
