We bought two male parakeets. When we got to the pet store, my grandson/Sean showed me the two canaries that they had first. In with the canaries they had two parakeets. One was off way in the top where I could not see him. He was a yellowish green. Sitting close, but not too close to the two canaries was an adorable white and gray parakeet with a tiny bit of blue markings. I immediately fell in love with him. In a nearby cage they also had some mostly blue parakeets, but a few green ones as well. After much deciding, I decided to go with parakeets. I bought the little white/gray one, and I am calling him Marty. I picked out a blue one from the nearby cage. I chose one that seemed less aggressive than the rest. He is bluish gray. I am calling him Spin. My grandson says that his store sells only male birds, but I thought you could only tell the sex of the parakeets after about six months, and Sean says these are younger than that. Sean says I read too much on the internet.

We came home and set up the cage for the birds, and now I need to find a proper table to put the cage on permanently. Right now, it's on the coffee table. We talked to the birds for a while, but of course they mostly just sat there and ignored us. However, Marty kept inching closer and closer to Spin. He obviously wants some attention. Those two/three birds from the pet store were definitely ignoring him. My grandson tried to get the parakeet on his finger, but of course they weren't interested. My grandson has a cockateil, and it is very fond of him. He sits on my grandson's shoulder.

My husband covered the birds for the night. He said they were chirping some, while I was trying to google tables on Target's website, but it kept freezing up on me.

They have the QS in France, Norway and now Mexico, though I'm not impressed with Mexico's offerings, not my thing. But that is wonderful for those entering the park from the WS turnstiles. It is a long truck to grab something quick to any of those places and then double back to the WS.

I'm sure some if it has to do with Mexico and Norway now operating from opening to close however I'd still like to see the places spread out a bit more to cover both entry points. Wonder what made them think this is was a good idea 'cause you can't get near Starbucks in the earlier morning hours.
I think I already gave my opinion on the Mexican QS options.. definitively not good.
More texmex than real mexican. (not to mention the US style tortillas and taco shells)

Oh, how nice! You have two new little pals, and they'll greet you every morning when you go by their cage.

I just recalled that we used to have a cotton cover for the cage that my sister would put on a night, so to block out any light, and the birds could sleep. o_O She'd remove it in the morning. I haven't a clue if a cover was normal or not (I'm not up on birds' sleeping habits), but I just remembered her doing that now! :p

I know that feel.
This "new" cable internet company is getting worse by the minute. Its getting to horrible levels never seen (even taking Comcast into the equation) before.
Not even the technicians can fix the issues they found, because they have to "call" the general customer support.. hope that the call dude isnt a dbag.. and transfer the call to the local area AND THEN and ONLY THEN they get a "we cannot do that, they need to pay XXXX plan upgrade for some dubious reason only we know"
We were forced into an upgrade too. Our older box failed, and they told us they could no longer repair it. I would like to pinch the person that wanted pay T.V. We may have to choose between T.V. and computer in the future. It's all too costly and crazy to pay for re run after re run.

Our grandmother put a cloth over her cage at night too. It's also to avoid the birds getting to cold when they sleep. It was always fun to watch the birds awake when the cover first came off.

Well, folks I must be checking out for a week or so. I'll check in a couple of times this evening, but, I must get organized and packed for my road trip to Vermont tomorrow morning. All I will have is my phone and even though I can post with it, it is way to small to use very often, so the upside is that you won't hear me telling people to get off my lawn for a few days.

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

P.S. I will more then likely not be taking any pictures either. I'm just that lazy!
Have a safe trip. Enjoy the scenery.

What is the connection? I'm not aware of the story.

The monorail accident was a bunch of oddities that seemed to align to create the setup of the crash. Ultimately there have been many changes in procedures overall to keep a similar accident from happening. Add in this was a holiday night, long hours. A friend of my DS was a pilot that night on an uninvolved monorail that was rattled rightfully as this all unfolded and will likely stay with the young man forever. How could it not. It took many hours for us to get word the friend was OK and uninvolved, kinda vested in the accident more than we would have been otherwise.

Anyhow if memory serves me correctly, it has been several years. Manager of monorail went off sight for his dinner break at Perkins (allowed even on an extreme high volume holiday night), during that time the coordinator left abruptly ill and went home (also obviously allowed) I believe a worker told the manager at Perkins that a monorail track was flipped and it wasn't which allowed for the monorails to be on same track. There are far more details about the sad event on other threads I'm sure but I believe that is how it played out.

To me Perkins is more of a personal memory trigger. Nothing to do with a fine restaurant to dine at.

I wondered how long, before it hit here. I don't think Colorado can support the kind of mosquito's that carry the virus. Lot's of bugs can't live at this altitude. Unless they mutate.

It seems every month there is a newly discovered layer to the mosquito's virus and how it is carried and transmitted. A learning curve for all.
As of now researchers do not believe this particular one cannot survive our winters if it does make its way up here. The newest thing I read was asking those who could transmit the disease, if they visit an infected area and return to a non, to use deet while outside for 3 weeks to curb the travel of the virus.

Hmpf. Hearing Trump got stuck in an elevator at a resort in Colorado and had to climb out and up to 2nd floor. Wonder if it was a Trump owned hotel.

Now I have to wonder who turned the key to the Manual position that stalled the elevator between floors. Crazy.
