Out of that one shelter. 45,000 nationwide over the #emptytheshelters movement this month. Happy Dance!

Great news!!! Oh, you wanna know something about Jack? He had been in the shelter for a few months and was difficult for them to adopt out. (He's always been wacko.) Well, one weekend, they put him on sale :hilarious: and that was the weekend we had gone to the shelter. :p They told us he was a bit unusual, but still a decent dog, just not for everyone . . . :cautious: We took him for a short walk and watched him play with some toys on the floor--running around like a lunatic in his own world. I asked the shelter guy if Jack often acted crazy, and the guy said yes , , , a little bit . . . at times . . .

So hubs and I looked at each other and said, "Sold! He'll fit right in with us!!" :joyfull: Seven years later, he's still living here with us in the asylum--one big, happy family! :joyfull:

I'm so glad we didn't book the Plaza. The chicken strawberry salad and turkey sandwich are both gone:(:(:(:(:( Last time I got a wonderful salad sans animal products with assorted greens, tomato and enough berries for a meal:) my dh loved the turkey sandwich not heavy but filling. The nice "fancy" salad has been replaced with a wedge salad with ranch dressing:grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:

Well that is good to know, especially about the sandwich. As much as I love a good salad it usually isn't enough to hold me for a meal when I am as active as I am in the parks unless it a Chopped Salad with the pasta and I have never cared for meat in my salads.

But a wedge salad with ranch. How much more generic can they get?

Today's chiefs make me laugh. They take a head of iceberg lettuce cut it in quarters, call it a "wedge salad" and people pay a fortune for 20 cents worth of lettuce and 10 cents worth of dressing. But, I guess people buy the stuff so who am I to be critical. I do know that they will never make a nickel waiting for me to spend money on that.

Doing research on where to stay in San Diego. I was looking at the general area and found this...on an official website

So weather you are planning to visit for the weekend, a week or longer San Diego has something for everyone.

That's a smart idea. I've heard horror stories over the years about floods, broken pipes, etc., when people have taken off for a few weeks on vacation, and come home to a water disaster in the house. Yikes.

I think I posted about this a long time ago...
This happened in the summer of '07. My folks had gone out of town for the weekend to my moms hometown for her 50th HS reunion.
A next door neighbor went to walk his dog and noticed sheets of water running out of their garage and down the driveway around dusk Saturday night.
He called, and I immediately went over. I walked into the house with a flashlight 'cause I wasn't gonna' turn on any light switches if I was gonna' be standing in water.

Anyway, when I opened the front door there was about 3 inches of water across the entire floor (about an inch bellow the raised entry), and I could hear water spewing from somewhere in the game room back between the garage and kitchen. It was coming from the laundry closet. I opened the doors and got hit directly in the face with gushing water. I then held my breath an dove in to shut off the water valve supplying the washer...the hose had burst.
I'm standing there soaking wet, not believing what I'm seeing, with three inches of water in every room of the house.

I finally managed to track down my folks through my aunt and uncle in her hometown (my folks didn't have a cell phone at the time). They immediately headed home.
Anyway, about 3 months later, you would never have known it even happened if you weren't told.

But, it was 3 months of a lot of carp...
All furniture removed, all carpets torn up (nothing but concrete floors), base boards trashed, holes drilled in the drywall for blowers going 24-7 to dry out the drywall, etc. it was nuts.

That hose was replaced by a braided steel line after that...! ;)

My not so little angels are really trying to talk us into the 4 park hop on our last Disney day. It might just work. MK ppo breakfast, hit our fps, DHS for one last spin on ST and maybe TOT, EPCOT for dinner and say good bye to Figment and a few other rides then close the night at AK at 11.

Go for it! We've done it...hop, hop, hop, hop, like Mr. Toad...!!!!! :joyfull: ;)

Wedge salads are very popular at high end steakhouses where everything is A la carte but they are not served with ranch dressing.

IKEA in their cafeteria sells a decent Wedge Salad. $1.75 and it has blue cheese dressing, crumbled blue cheese and crunched up fresh bacon. Tasty! :hungry:

Yesterday I was so happy my favorite corn is now available

Todays educational experience was on the topic of Evapotranspiration. The increase of corn crop by 60% per acre is putting more moisture in the air creating more humidity from the plants leaves and roots. That moisture is the reason why the humidity levels in the midwest have been continually rising and sparking more frequent short rainfall but heavy.

Great. Now my corn is the cause of 'global warming.' :bored:

I'm sure Oprah will eat there a lot.;)

Ha! McDonald's world headquarters and Hamburger University is in a beautiful compound in Oakbrook IL that also even houses their own hotel. The grounds are awesome and they do have their own little McD's in there too. Their beautiful banquet room overlooks the acres of open landscaped areas and water. My niece works there and her wedding was at the compound banquet room.

So now they have decided to move a good chunk of their corporate stuff to the heart of downtown Chicago and are demo'ing and building a skyscraper to house these employees. I wonder what will eventually happen to the compound and Hamburger U. So my niece will go from a few minute commute to a few hours a day commute. Joy Joy.
