Happy middle of the night, some genius doesn't realize the 4th is over and was shooting off fireworks, haven't heard one in 5 whole minutes. I'm taking one of those nap things I keep hearing about this afternoon. BTW @Songbird76 DHS is now open until 9:30 in August with fireworks at that time
Sorry it kept you up. We had a few strays, too. Hopefully, that is the end of it. Hope you get a nice nap today.

I stock up on canned tomatoes for things like soups and stews and have been know to get a few dozen cases at the really good sales. No matter how many fresh tomatoes I buy they never seem to last through the week, my little guy love them for snacking. Yesterday I got 3 pounds of cherry tomatoes and 6 pounds of slicing ones and I hope that's enough
I am insanely jealous right now. I can't wait for farmers market tomatoes. Hopefully, they will start seeing some in a few weeks.

My WDW trip is just 50 days away. I have done all the important preplanning stuff. Now comes the hard part, which is the waiting. This next trip is special, since I get to spend my birthday at WDW. I haven't done that since 1997, which coincidentally was my first ever trip to WDW.

Birthdays at Disney are the best! We always schedule our trips over our birthdays and our anniversary. Hubby and I have birthdays a week apart and our anniversary is in between. We can travel somewhere on hubby's birthday but never on mine. Although we broke that rule last year we travelled from Disneyland Paris to London, but that was okay because I wasn't traveling home!

Around 1994, I flew on Aer Lingus. It was a huge plane (had to be the largest wide-body aircraft I've ever been on) and it was packed, both to and from Ireland. Still, I don't recall it feeling cramped at all. On the flight over, they showed a silly Dennis the Menace movie, and we were all laughing. (I went with my friend's family, and there were 6 of us.)

Aer Lingus has a very good safety record. Years ago (and this may or may not still be true), Aer Lingus mechanics did all the mechanical work on Aeroflot planes. That's right, at that time--the Russian airline sent their planes over to Ireland for maintenance/repair--don't have a clue if that is still the case. I recall on my trip that (either at Dublin or Shannon Airport, don't exactly recall which one), I saw a bunch of Aeroflot planes parked there. I had never seen an Aeroflot plane before (I think at that time, and maybe still now, they only flew into Washington, DC, and "maybe" LAX, too?). So I asked a crew member on the way out of the plane about them. I was told that Aeroflot planes were flown to Ireland, specifically, to be serviced there by Aer Lingus mechanics.

This is one of those cool airplane things that you know I love to learn!
Thanks for taking the time to share, Minnie...! :)

I love/hate Farmers Markets. We have a huge one here in Raleigh. The trouble is that there are 50+ large booths with edibles and they are all the same thing. Tomatoes, beans, eggplant, watermelon, onions, 147 varieties of peppers... and so on. They are all priced at about the same, so I end up walking the whole place (open sided, roof covered buildings) from one end to the other and when I have reached the point where I am tired of walking, I buy what I was planning. I could have done that immediately, no matter where I walked in, but, didn't. Then I feel both guilty, because I tried some samples from booths and then bought the item from a different one or I feel concerned that I passed up an especially tasty item because I didn't get tired of walking when I was near them. Competition may be good for pricing, but, it is a nightmare for the buyer trying to decide where they want to buy it.

It was a lot of fun, and Estes Park is a 10 minute drive to the Rocky Mountain National park. That's where we hiked. It's beautiful. Estes is a nice little town with lots of fun shops to go through.

Back in '78 we went on a summer vacation back to California to visit friends. We decided to take a more northerly route through Colorado. We visited Pikes Peak, Estes Park, Garden of the Gods, etc. it was all sooo beautiful...!!! :)

Yeah, we're keeping an eye on her. I have a feeling that a lot of the responsibility for keeping track of her is going to fall on me. Not that I really mind; I adore the woman, but still.

Now she's talking about everything she wants to do. She's had to think of my grandfather and his needs first for so long that now she wants to travel. She wants to come to Hilton Head with us in December. We're also talking about going down to SC to visit our family in Charleston. Might see if she wants to drive down a few days early, spend about three days or so in Charleston, and then head over to Hilton Head when my parents come.
is Charleston a nice place ? I keep hearing that name but no idea about tourism or visiting.

We got the new camera but what an ordeal. We got an e mail saying it was ready for pick up but when we got there at opening this morning they couldn't find it. Long story short after a bit of searching they couldn't find it so we got the next model up for $10 less than we paid for the one we ordered. Good customer service at least. Now I have to figure it out.:eek::eek::eek: After I get my cooking done I hope to have time to figure it out, it may take a while, a very long while. First I have to find the power button and I'm sure it will go down hill from there:confused:

I wish I had this problem. Our market is pretty small, and most of the booths, I just walk by. I will have to double check, but I think there are only 3 that sell local produce, and one that just does fruit. They always get the best peaches. Their berries are good, too!
