I saw the report's on the weather channel this morning. And thought of @Gabe1.

Thank you. We had a great deal of lightning, wind and more rain in a very short span of time that I recall in many years. It is messy around here but we were spared tornadoes. Amen. Our ground was petty dry because of little rain in the last week and highs in the 90s so while it is squishy I do not have as much standing water that I usually do after a storm like this. I'm interested to hear how @MouseDreaming did as the winds were even stronger through that area. I should call my Mom and see how she weathered it all too but I'm thinking if something went wayward I'd have already heard from her or my Sis.

Yeah, crazy. DD was getting a ride home with a friend from dance, and I tried to get a message to her to let that dad know he should just take her to their house, and I would pick her up when the river running down my street receded. Didn't connect and the dad barely made it to the driveway in his brand new Rav4 hybrid.
Sympathy like, be safe today!

So, I'm coming to the end of a 19-year tenure at my current company as of next Thursday - downsizing is never any fun. I begin my new job on July 11. I've been blessed to have been able to work with some of the most talented and famous people in the theatre industry for nearly two decades, and I will continue this at the next company, but damn if I'm not going to miss this office, which is seriously bigger than my apartment. :(

Nice home, away from home.

Yum!! I want to try pot pie there. I think it was there, anyway. Pot pie is one of those things we don't have here, and I had thought about it for 50s Prime Time, but then, pot roast is ALSO one of the things we don't have here...and fried chicken...and meatloaf, though that I make myself. So I kind of want to order the trio. Perhaps I can get DD to order one and I order the other and we share.
That's what we did last time. We usually get something different, and share. The pot roast is really good, as is the fried chicken, and hubby loves the pot pie! You can't go wrong there.

Sympathy like, is it any better yet?

Yes thank you. It is mushy and messy but we actually did better with this one. Overnight Lake Gabe went down to a big puddle. I went already and picked up small branches in the front of the house. I have one 15 x 15 garden where a Christmas Tree once lived and it is filled with bark with landscaping border. 75% of the bark has floated out a good 20 feet away all over the place. So lots of messes to clean up but I consider myself blessed.

I hope it's the last of the nasty weather! We're supposed to get some rain and maybe a small thunderstorm but nothing like what you had.

Oh Dear. Glad she got home safe. What a nice parent but driving through that is nasty. My DD made it back to her place maybe 15 minutes before all heck broke loose.

Gosh, where was that? Des Plaines by the river? We were probably shin deep on our street, and water was still pouring down.

The news didn't say the venue just Palatine IL. I was looking at the photo and the people wading with a lamppost buried in water. What the heck people?
