Wow, if someone had done that I would have told them to get the hell out of our lives.
What a rude person! if her priority is a goddarn recipe than the well being of the people who are mourning, then I would not want to have anything to do with this person.
Yeah, she's not one of my favorite people. She's always been a bit....dipsy/flakey. In her mind, she might have considered it an honor to my mother's memory, how amazing her pickles were. She also told me once that the reason my brother is gay is because my mother didn't let him play in the mud with her son when they were little. First, my mom let us play in the mud...I remember making mud pies on the ranch. We got dirty a lot. 2nd, her son was about 2.5-3 years younger than my brother, and was not always the most fun kid to be with...my brother didn't WANT to play in the mud, or ANYWHERE with him...it wasn't because mom wouldn't let him. She's one of those people that you just plaster a fake smile on your face and nod your head politely until she walks away and then be glad that you probably won't encounter her again for a few years.

I had the most interesting phone call at work today.

The HR interns, other than me, were doing recruiting calls this morning. After they left, I was basically studying our products and answering any phone calls. I answer the phone right before I'm ready to be done for the day, and it is the usual: person returning a call about a position. I do my usual scripted response: these are the positions, we'd love to bring you in for an interview, yadda yadda. Most of the time, they'll tell you no, ask a few more questions, or say yes.

This was not one of those times.

The man on the other end starts yelling at me. Basically, he called just to yell at someone. He asks if I even looked at his resume. I tell him no, as I was not the person who called him. He asks why we would call him for a sales job since his experience is not in sales. I tell him a wide variety of experience translates to doing sales, but I'd be happy to take him off our list if he wasn't interested. And he continues.

Meanwhile, he called on the line thay has the phones that need to be replaced because only the speaker phone works. So the entire office hears this butt hole yelling, and there's basically silence and some horrified stares.

Finally, I tell him the most I can do is take him off our call list. At that point, I had had enough, and I hung up on him, even though he was continuing to yell. Good grief. I thought, "I offer you an interview for a job, and that's how you treat me? You sir, are an a**." The entire office was sympathetic, but boy, what a d-bag. Can't imagine what he's like to customer service people.
So sorry....sounds like you handled it well though. Some people just really WANT to be angry about something and nothing you can say is going to change their determination to be mad. And to hold you personally responsible. When I worked the front desks of the dorms at college, I had a mom come in, moving her darling in and she wanted to know where she could turn the AC on. I explained that we didn't have AC in the residence halls. She starts yelling at me that she KNOWS I'm lying to her and I'd better tell her where to turn on the d*** AC. She swore that when SHE went to college, there was AC...what did they do, uninstall it? I just said they must have because we don't have it! I called a manager and let the manager tell her I was right, there's no AC...she left completely angry that everyone was lying to her. There was just no pleasing her. The most you can do is be polite and hope they run out of steam. Did you go home and have some chocolate or wine?

People are an interesting lot.

Well this is the biggest Lake Gabe I've seen in a long long while.

Wooba!
Yeah, crazy. DD was getting a ride home with a friend from dance, and I tried to get a message to her to let that dad know he should just take her to their house, and I would pick her up when the river running down my street receded. Didn't connect and the dad barely made it to the driveway in his brand new Rav4 hybrid.

Thinking of you too @MouseDreaming This was just on the news, I'm guessing near your neck of the woods.

Gosh, where was that? Des Plaines by the river? We were probably shin deep on our street, and water was still pouring down.

So my dog had to go to the vet today. Hubby could tell that the ear was bothering him, and the vet said it was a hematoma, (sort of like a cyst), and she drained it. Gave him ear drops for twice a day, and prednisone for twice a day (I assume for a week).

Meanwhile, my dog who's always been a lunatic, is even more crazed now that he's on steroids?! He's running around all wound up and excited. Hope he doesn't keep us awake tonight. :cautious: Oh, and a few times he went to scratch his ear, gives a slight whimper (his ear will hurt until it heals--somehow, he hasn't figured out the connection yet), and then runs upstairs and downstairs. I think he's high. :jawdrop:
How is Jack doing? Poor puppy.

We spent the morning at Epcot and are headed back for some downtime at the Music beforeHollywood studios and the dessert party tonight. The new version of Soarin is pretty awesome, I did miss some elements of the old one.

Not too great with the selfies, but here is us before our prepare open breakfast at garden grill.

In other news.. I am annoyed.

Out of nowhere, a tabloid went to harrass and stain Michael Jackson's legacy yet again. Claiming the cops had found very awful illegal sex stuff on the 2003 raid. (which is BS, the reports mention it was normal adult stuff in his secret private room).
The interesting is, the news spread like a broken telephone and most tabloids repeated the news on the same days.
But later that day and today, CNN and others reported the CORRECT NEWS about the kind of stuff found. Which was nowhere as terrible as this tabloid claimed.
Quickly, a lot of Tabloids who had mirrored the news changed their pages about it or just simply deleted them.
But the damage was done (since people hardly read past the front page article and a few lines). Now everyone is reinforcing their views on MJ as a pedophile.

The culture of british tabloids is insane... clickbaiting with smearing constantly...
I don't read tabloids. That is awful for the remaining family.

I really enjoy the Fish and Chips out of the UK pavilion at Epcot and that is my kind of batter I favor but I have to say Cooke's Fish and Chips are beyond awesome. You really need to try the upgrade garlic and parmesan skinny chips though. (skinny fries not low calorie)
and their bacon and cheese soup is beyond delicious. Even if you can't order the soup yourself if you can take a little tiny taste of
Mr. Bet's
Thanks for the info. I'm putting this on our list. We don't do sit downs when the kids aren't coming. Then I have little luggage. We are only going for 6 nights. I'm carrying on all my stuff. No waiting for bags in the room.
