Oh are you not familiar with the Westboro Baptist church? Fred Phelps? Google them. I'd explain here, but I'm afraid that would get me in trouble for being political. Anyway, the picture I posted was from a counter protest we did against him when he came to Laramie where I went to college. He came for the trial of Matthew Shepherd's murderers. He picketed Matthew's funeral but we didn't have the organization at that time. So when he came for the trial, we got together to block his hate. Angel Action is what we called it and it has spread across the nation with groups making human walls at every funeral he pickets, but my understanding is they are no longer allowed to wear the big wings because Phelps' group complained that it was an infringement on their first amendment rights.
Uncaring people. They only hurt those left behind. :(

What an idiot...this baptist church/phelps fellow. I would say more too, but it wouldn't be very nice and I don't want to get political/religious.

I'm old enough (God help me) to remember that the original opened on the same weekend as Gremlins. We went to see Ghostbusters, but it was sold out, so had to see Gremlins. I have no idea why they opened that now Christmas classic in the dead of Summer, but that was one of my great moviegoing experiences of my life.

I never saw that one at the theater either, but, when I finally saw it on cable, l loved it...such a crazy hoot ...!!! :joyfull: :)

They filmed some of the new Ghostbusters in Boston this past year. Not sure why. As with any other film crew in the middle of a big city during the work week, it was a nuisance. All it did was create inconvenience, blocking off some street areas, etc., and creating occasional traffic gridlocks. Oh, I also did not see the first movie either.
An episode of House of Cards was shot right near school last fall. I understand why; the area, especially in the fall, is beautiful, but they blocked off over half our parking lot, as well as a good chunk of the area where I like to walk. I hope they at least donated to the school since they made just about every student and faculty member with a class on that campus very angry for about a week.

I remember when they both came out too. My older sister was allowed to go see Ghostbusters and Gremlins. I was not, I think my mom probably thought I would be scared (movie about ghosts, and a movie about little monsters). She was probably right. I remember that I had a loose tooth the day my sister got to see Ghostbusters, and my mom told me if I lost it that I could go to the movies as a reward. I tried but I couldn't lose it in time. I don't really know why she made that offer, maybe she knew I wouldn't lose it. Anyway, I still have never seen either movie.

If you like Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, and Harold Ramis, you should definitely watch Ghostbusters at least once.
Gremlins is just a hoot of a black comedy...! :)

Can't you just tell your sister that you have made previous plans so she will have to go alone? I would, I don't understand why my plans would not be just as important, if not more so, then someone elses.
She is considered the last matriarch in our family. Everyone follow's her lead, as she is the oldest. I don't want to make enemy's in the family, my daughter is friends with cousins, her daughter's. Daughter know's and her daughter's know how she is. I'm am the peace maker, for the next generation. I'm trying not to cause trouble. It's a little thing to us to spend a few hundred dollars to keep the peace. Families have their own dynamic. I'm following ours. We may have had terrible experiences between family member's, but we bury the hatch and go on. At least I do, it's too tiring to keep up with anger.
