The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

My dh said when the time comes he wants to be with hr, he knows I'll really fall apart
My vet was really good about how this happened. After the second shot, he closed the door and let us have as much time as we needed. He showed us a back way out of the office, before we had the procedure done. We left crying our eyes out. It's okay to fall apart, pets are very much a part of the family.

Discouraging to see this morning that a separate thread in Chit Chat yesterday, created by prberk, (one of our nicest forum members), was removed. He wanted to share the news about Orlando, and posted it a few hours after the incident, yesterday morning. People shared comments in his thread about the senseless tragedy. I shared that I saw on TV, the many people offering to donate blood, and how businesses in the area were providing free water and food to people waiting in long lines. (Even after an evil event, there's always good people that volunteer their help.) A few other members mentioned different opinions about a debate on firearms.

Anyway, I logged out here yesterday around 4:30 p.m., and this morning I noticed the entire thread was removed. Not sure where the thread went after I last saw it yesterday; but obviously, it got derailed enough for it to be deleted by the mods. I only wish that the respectful tone to acknowledge the victims could have been maintained in that original thread, (and other side discussions could have been taken to a different thread, to discuss those only), as I think that was prberk's intent, to just share a thread to express our condolences and/or prayers.
Unfortunately, there were several members who got into an extrenely political, hateful debate. That thread, alpng with my Facebook newsfeed, was why I put my phone away and turned on Zootopia yesterday. It was getting extremely nasty. And it really wasn't neccesary either. The debate can be saved for another time and platform. It would have been more helpful to use the thread as someplace to share news and condolences, but unfortunately, people couldn't do that. It was getting very heated and was not, IMO, respectful to the 50 people who were killed by a lunatic. Yes, it should spark a conversation. But yesterday on this board was not the time or place.

I'm sorry for writing such a long, somewhat out-of-place post, I just like explaining myself in detail. I'm told I'm a great writer and in real life I find it much easier to express my thoughts and feelings when I write them down as opposed to verbal communication.
You're fine. Chit Chat is the place to discuss everything. No matter how random it may seem. We've all been known to write long posts. :)

But remember, especially when you post elsewhere on this board, brevity can be your friend. It's simply a matter of people don't want to take the time to read everything you've written. Sometimes a one sentence post is more effective than 50 sentences.

Also, of you do need to write a long post, make sure it's broken up into smaller paragraphs. Even in places where you would normally never make a new paragraph. It just makes it easier to read.

If you really enjoy writing, take journalism while you're in college. I love writing too, and I took two years of journalism in high school and absolutely loved it. It teaches you, though, how to be brief, the nitty gritty grammar rules, etc.

It's nice getting to know whatever people want to post on here. This is the nicest bunch of people you will find on Magic. Chit Chatter's are the best!

Tower of Terror for me. I only rode it for the first time last year. I was too scared before then. It's the best!
My parents used bribery to get me to ride it once a trip from the time I was tall enough. I think I was about 4 the first time I went on it. By about age 9, I decided that I liked it. It only took...five years and about 10 trips. :joyfull:

When I first rode the ToT at age 9, I was nervous and crying, but my two younger brothers were excited to ride it. At the end of the ride, I had a big grin on my face and my brothers were the ones crying :D.
