So I was thinking (yes, it did hurt and I smelled something burning), if you were working the security line there, would you pick suspicious looking people who might do you bodily harm, or would you go the "safe" route and pick the nondescript ordinary folks? If I'm unarmed, standing in the heat all day, making a wage that's not worth risking my life over, I think I know which choice I'd be making... What do you all think?

Boy, that is a flip of the coin. The friend two properties down from me is a cool as a cucumber fresh from the fridge. If you asked me this question 2 or 3 years ago I would have had a different answer as I believe a good chunk of law enforcement and our Military are wired differently than we are. Most to serve and protect is a mindset and their very being. I believe that is still the core of most. Still and I won't take sides, with all the jump to conclusions over the last few years I can appreciate your question given the darned if you do and darned if you don't react in their professions in the last few years.

But I worked at Ohare right out of college. I watched many a thing come down in the era of post hijacking. Me, I find this new security a half dozen of a deterrent and the balance of the dozen-boots on the ground. Give they have the option, say law enforcement or the Pups spot something I'd be more inclined to believe given the opportunity the confrontation would not be in security entrance area. Just too much collateral damage possibilities all smooshed together. I doubt much of it has to do with pay scale, law enforcement has few slackers, if anything more striving to be overachievers, they just don't want to get killed or anyone else killed doing it. It is a predicament the position Disney is in with all this.

I'm so happy we're driving! No TSA to get through and I can buy what I want and bring it home.:joyfull:

I wish I could wrap my brain around driving 2 days to Florida and back again. Too many evil memories of that from childhood and my Dad dragged it out 4 days down to southern Florida and 3 days home. Haven't gotten past that.

I've missed a great deal of posts....did your hubby buy a new vehicle?

DIA is...there are no words. I remember once YEARS ago, before we had kids, we were flying back here and we got in line for security and it was pretty much standing still. When the line started moving again, this woman and her daughter (about 9 I think) cut in line in front of us. We just kind of looked at each other but didn't say anything. The line stopped again. It started moving and we just passed them back and the mother starts really loudly preaching to her daughter about devils...how some people are just mean and do things like cut in line, and they are going to h.e.l.l. and we must just be in such a hurry to be so inconsiderate and not care about other people. I'm thinking...really? THAT'S the example you want to set for your child? YOU were the ones who cut in line and now you are going to lecture your daughter about how people who do that are condemned? You have now just told your daughter she is going to h.e.ll. Way to go.

Yep. Airport security is a place you just let things go. Even if you are in the right it won't go well.

Hee hee . . . both you and Donald use it for snoozing, yet the name of the attraction is Ellens' ENERGY Adventure?! :p

I next to never nap. The long trip my DD and I took for her graduation was a different story. I was having problems with my foot towards the end of the trip, we got enough sleep but almost 2 weeks of open to close got to my energy level. I started to doze in both Presidents and the American shows. I don't do that, ever. Was not amused with myself.

It doesn't seem that it's random to me. My daughter and I sat down and counted the times we were selected in 8 days. We did a minimum of two parks and up to four entries--twice to MK, and she was screened 12 times and I was screened 14 times. If we hadn't gone to Uni four days, the Disney number would have been higher. How random or fair is that. I could not believe I got picked almost every time. The most mathematically improbable was the day I was screened all four times I entered the parks in one day. I wish I knew what it is about me to have this happen. It got to where I didn't want to enter. I told one of the guards that this was ridiculous for me to get picked every time I entered a park and that they needed a pin or something to give people who have already been screened that day. He laughed and said that they were getting t-shirts for that purpose. He thought it was funny. I didn't. At first, I thought it was because we were entering before or after the crowds, so I hung back a couple of times and made sure and go through with several people, and I still got picked.
How can other people only get picked once and I get picked almost every stinking time. Sorry. I'm getting aggravated all over again.
I also had to go through every time we went to Uni, but that did not bother me at all as everyone went through. Vent over.
Back to happy stuff.

I feel your pain. My Magic band one trip failed to let me in at the MK and the process to override that was trying my patients by the end of that trip. I was fine in the other parks but we did hit the MK everyday of that long trip. Anything that keeps repeating wears ya down.

Did you ever manage to get photo's to upload? I had issues for the last year. I still cannot upload on this site. I have to upload elsewhere and import.

Awwww....my FIL has night terrors. He ends up banging his head on his night stand, or running into the bed frame, etc. He dove off the bed once and was throwing pillows at my MIL because he thought someone was shooting at him and he was "shooting back". But as far as I know, he's never run out into the street naked.
Also, that drink you have can't be meant for just one person!! It's as big as your head!

I'm prone to night terrors. It isn't fun. Also insomnia. It comes and goes in cycles. Thankfully not as odd as your FIL.

We didn't do anything big for the last day. They had a field trip on the Goodtime 3 cruise boat touring Lake Erie/Cleveland so she was tired.

We had a couple traditions in my neighborhood when our kids were little but school aged. We'd go out to dinner Mom's and kids near the start of school and then we'd hit Target and we'd all school shop together for supply list. On the first day of school we Mom's would all walk them to school together and then we'd go out to breakfast.

Last day of school was anticlimactic other than school work being done for a while. My kids being competitive swimmers were already back in the water for a couple weeks twice a day. A new routine had already begun. Swim Team didn't end until the last Sunday in July. They were back in school by the last days of the second week of August. They had almost 2 weeks of summer.

Maybe you could have the royalty rights for the t-shirt division?

I'm still laughing at @figmentfan4 post. It has been a particularly rough day in Gabe-land and I now feel so much better laughing my fool head off.
I'm so sorry to hear that things don't seem to be getting better for you yet:( May bright sunny skies head your way very soon and I'm sending an extra dose of prayers and pixie dust. Be well my friend xoxo

THNX for remembering, yes he did and it's the one we're taking to Florida, great mpg and enough trunk room not to have to use the roof bag on the way down:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: The ride really isn't too bad for us at all. We're leaving by 6am and will hit just outside Daytona to sleep and will be in DTD by 10am. Besides even with a hotel down and back it's so much cheaper to drive and my dh has to burn vacation days this year
