They are taking one gigantic chance if they aren't involved. The Driver is responsible for the safety of the passengers. If they are not actively involved with safely securing the rider and something happens, guess who is going to get blamed and sued and probably lose their ability to make a living. I have to think that would be a foolish thing to do.

That's the problem with random selection... it's so random!

You still have me curious. There are sooooooooo many students in wheelchairs at UoI and I can't remember how that is handled. The campus is so large that a good chunk of student utilize buses to get to particular buildings, if I'm not mistaken it is over 5 square miles.
When I see my DD this evening I'm going to try and remember to ask her as she rode those buses multiple times a day. I do remember they are not University buses but belong to the the transit system of Champaign Urbana.

that bread looks weird. never seen that type. or is it a potato?

This is from the Disney Official website
......started dishing up seven new gourmet hot dogs, each themed to a different city or region of the United States. Each specialty dog (besides one … you’ll see what I mean) is served on a bun fresh-baked daily by the Grand Floridian Bakery. With a different hot dog for each day of the week, you’ll want to plan your visit accordingly..........................

Idaho – On Thursdays, you’ll find the exception I mentioned earlier—the Idaho dog is (fittingly) served on a baked potato instead of a bun and piled high with bacon bits, chives, sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese.

We opted for a cruise, like @Cesar R M. Going to the Caribbean , On RCL. We have done this before, but the Oasis Class of ships are really fun.

DWifey, myself, and the 2 younger kiddos have yet to do a cruise. Oldest DD and SIL went on a 4-day cruise on (I believe it was) the Disney Dream for their honeymoon, plus 4 days at WDW. My folks have cruised several times.
We'd like our first cruise to be a Disney cruise, because, as well as hearing it from DD and SonIL, we've heard from others and folks on this site, that the ships and service are impeccable. Plus Cast Away Cay.
Just so darn expensive, though...! :greedy: ;) :)

So I was thinking (yes, it did hurt and I smelled something burning), if you were working the security line there, would you pick suspicious looking people who might do you bodily harm, or would you go the "safe" route and pick the nondescript ordinary folks? If I'm unarmed, standing in the heat all day, making a wage that's not worth risking my life over, I think I know which choice I'd be making... What do you all think?

Agreed--the path of least resistance. I'm sure they looked at me and thought, she's gorgeous and looks like the kind of lady I'd like to take home to meet my mom. (Oh wait . . . that was the woman next to me . . .:cautious: )

O.k. Let's try this again--path of least resistance. Screener looks at me and figures I'm about the most non-threatening person coming through the line, while I'm making a feeble attempt to fix the jammed zipper in my purse. Result: Congratulations, you've been SELECTED for Random Screening!

It doesn't seem that it's random to me

I wish I knew what it is about me to have this happen. It got to where I didn't want to enter. I told one of the guards that this was ridiculous for me to get picked every time I entered a park and that they needed a pin or something to give people who have already been screened that day. He laughed and said that they were getting t-shirts for that purpose. He thought it was funny. I didn't.

I also had to go through every time we went to Uni, but that did not bother me at all as everyone went through

The only reasonable resolution to this "random" mess is to have everyone go through, just like at Uni.

By cheaping out on the screening process, and not having enough machines available for screening everyone, Disney is creating some bad feelings with some of the very customers they want to bring into the parks and spend money.
