Those were some interesting observations about law enforcement and military. However, (if I'm not mistaken here), I "think" the security screening people are either from a private company, or they might even be Disney employees at this point--but, not actually licensed law enforcement professionals. Maybe that's why they also have OC Sheriff's uniformed officers visible now at all the parks--in case a licensed officer was needed.

I believe it is a mix of both private and disney employees at security. There is OC Sheriff and Dogs there now too. Then you have those that are dressed in plain clothing and that isn't unusual, same at auto show here along with our local Walmart. The Walmart nearest to us the one dude I know is in jeans, t-shirt and athletic shoes. Our park district has their own security but they hire off duty police officers even though they are in park district jackets and t-shirts. Likely many of the security CMs at Disney are retired law enforcement. Different title same training and experience.

This trip I bought The Haunted Mansion A Disney Classic by Jason Surrell. I didn't realize that the mansion in Disneyland was built, but didn't have anything in it or open for six years. It says that people were always asking when they would get to go in the mansion. It says that Walt even went to the UK to visit mansions that had ghost stories associated with them. It didn't open until after his death.
There are so many facts. I've only read a few pages and learned so much. I can't read much at a time because of an eye problem, but I can't wait to learn more. It is a very comprehensive updated version including facts on all the mansions around the world.

I think you're probably right. There was such a difference in the attitude of some of them. I heard many of them being down right rude to guests and others very nice and friendly.

That can't be true. According to the "I have all the answers brigade on the other threads, Walt would never leave an attraction empty. (sarcasm)

That's was my first thought. Everyone complaining about length of time to build a ride/area and Walt left this one empty for so long.
This book is official Disney, so they really can't say it isn't true.
Oh they'll do some sort of spin where they are right and the book is wrong. Happens all the time out there when I question them on something. Some talk about Eisner being the second coming of Walt, but he was the one that started "value engineering" everything. Long before Iger ever came on the scene. But you can't tell them that. Heck, it took 6 years for the design and build of EE, but 3 - 5 years for SWL is too long.

I hope they don't bring any of that stuff to this thread. If so, I'll start another thread about this for them to share their opinions.
I was just excited about all the info in the book.

and why the hell would they ruin a perfect hotdog with a potato?
If I have potato with my hot dog, it should look more like this

I'm going in August. My intention is to go to DHS by myself one day and do nothing but Star Wars stuff since the only other person in my family who likes Star Wars is my brother, and he's not nearly as into it as I am.

Check out the CMs' name tags while in DHS. Many of their name tags say that they're from a specific planet, like Tatooine, Hoth, Jakku, etc.
