The prices really have gone up. First time we stayed in Mermaid it was 119.00 average per night. Cars was 215.00. This trip with discount Lion King for nine nights was right at 3,000.00. Our son's Mermaid room was right at 1,700.00.
We are thinking of booking Doubletree for our next visit with our son. It will be almost half the price. With extended hours, we only made emh's two times. So, that's no longer a determining factor. When it's just my daughter and me, we'll stay on-site.

Woof! That's gettin' up there!
DWifey tells me we paid about $160 a night for our family suite at ASMusic this past February. And, I'm no longer a CM, so that was without the 60% discount.
Although, due to cutbacks, I don't think they even extend those kinds of discounts to CMs anymore.
Pretty much the same family suite at AoA definitely is NOT worth more than twice the price of a family suite at ASMusic for us.
Plus, we basically only use the resort to crash and clean up, so it really doesn't make sense for us.

I'm sure some of the people they select were targeted for specific reasons. In my case (just that one day only) and in the case of many others I've read about via these forums, all were just very nondescript people and doing nothing at all out of the ordinary. My guess is they probably have to keep some sort of headcount as well, and just pull anyone at times . . . ).

And the genuinely random they seem to finding guests that least disrupts the flow of the group they are with, my guess. For all the years I worked in Maritime I had a real keen sense of body language and speech patterns. I'm guessing these professionals too have some good instincts for their professions.

DWifey, myself, and the 2 younger kiddos have yet to do a cruise. Oldest DD and SIL went on a 4-day cruise on (I believe it was) the Disney Dream for their honeymoon, plus 4 days at WDW. My folks have cruised several times.
We'd like our first cruise to be a Disney cruise, because, as well as hearing it from DD and SonIL, we've heard from others and folks on this site, that the ships and service are impeccable. Plus Cast Away Cay.
Just so darn expensive, though...! :greedy: ;) :)
You just need to find the proper date, some dates are cheaper than others.
Like when I did with Alaska, the price difference was staggering (non discount vs late dates)
