We don't know my mom turned her phones off, house phone before she left and the cell when we got to lunch. She left a message for the little angel but doesn't want to hear anything from anybody until at least tomorrow. She can really use the break.

I hope no one gives her a tough time. It sounds like she was well within her rights to take charge of the car, and it was very kind of her to co-sign in the first place. Hopefully this teaches the girl a lesson to live up to responsibility.

When I went to Europe one of our activities was to attend a wine tasting in the Tuscany area in Italy. It was a small (farm house) that had a smallish dining area. We were served a 5 course meal with a different wine to evaluate with each course. Me? I know nothing about wine other then it is wet and some is bitter and some is sweet.** We had a checklist to mark up with the evaluations. I marveled watching people swirl the wine around the glass and stick their noses in the glass and sniff it. I have always been a tad skeptical (you probably haven't noticed) but, when comment like "yes, this wine does indeed smell young" or "this one has a more flowery feel to it then fruity" my eyes involuntarily start to roll around in my head. I don't have a problem with people liking wine, but, smells young? Really? Seems a little pretentious to me, but, that is probably why I am not part of their social circle.

It was a small, very quaint little winery, family owned in one of the most scenic spots you can imagine. The food was good and the wine was OK, great for all I know. I think I have a couple of pictures of the vineyard that I will post if I can find them.

Here they are:

Personally, I prefer a fine 1971 Boone's Farm Apple Wine. However, if I remember correctly we might have used up the whole supply when it was "young".

Those pictures are gorgeous! And a five course meal with that view...sign me up! I don't know a whole lot about wine either, probably as much as you. I know if it tastes good or not. I just like to go to the winery to hang out with my friends. There was one lady that used to go with us to the winery but she was really pretentious about the wine, so we stopped inviting her. :cautious: I'm more of a beer connoisseur, I enjoy the different flavors in the brews. I don't get too worked up about it though.

@donaldtoo , that was a fun pictorial journey to the three wineries yesterday. How in heck did you manage to even stand up after all that wine???!!! :in pain:

Some years ago, one of my brothers (who lives in N.C.), and I went to the Childress Vineyards (Lexington, NC) and it was beautiful there. (This is the winery of the famous Richard Childress, of Richard Childress Racing--NASCAR.) They also had a lovely restaurant there, and we had a table that overlooked the vineyards--just gorgeous. Anyway, I had a few sips of different wines and that made me silly! (Then again, it wasn't surprising, because that's just my general personality anyway?! o_O :joyfull:) But for the life of me, I can't even imagine you going to 3 wine tastings in ONE day?! :p

Hahaaa...! Thanks! :)
At the first winery it was $12 for 6 1 oz. pours, so basically, in all, a total of a typical glass of wine. But, as per usual, I did finish a few the others didn't like. ;)
Second winery, we just bought a bottle (no tasting) and split it between 5 of us. A good glass for all. Youngest DD didn't have any more after the first winery because she had to leave after lunch for a babysitting gig.
At the third winery it was $7 for 5 pours, and they were definitely more like 2-2.5 oz. pours. :) SonIL opted out of 3 of those because he was our driver now. And yep, you guessed it, I took up his slack. :D
So, I probably had a total of about 5 glasses...plus the 2 16 oz. draft beers I had at lunch. Really not all that much. :cyclops: ;)
The second winery had an Italian restaurant on the grounds, but, we opted out and decided on The Leaning Pear in Wimberley instead. :)

That winery in NC sounds wonderful.
When we first went I thought we might run into a bunch of wine snobs, but, we haven't, so far. Plus, it is Central Texas and most people are pretty laid back here.
Definitely another fun day with the kiddos...! :)

@donaldtoo those wineries look like fun. We have a winery near us (about a 10 minute drive) and they have a lovely outside seating area. I can't wait for a warm day to sit out there with some friends.

Hope things warm up soon for y'all so you can enjoy some time there. It sounds wonderful...! :)
I forgot to mention in my response to @MinnieM123 that we have so many wineries here in Central Texas that they have tours. We've never taken one, but, have talked about it and probably will in the future. One company has these nice black vans the size of small motor homes. They do all the drivin', you do all the drinkin'...! :hungry: ;) :)

I tried wine once (white wine). Horrible. I don't like champagne either. When they toast at weddings, I give my glass to my sister to drink.

I didn't exactly do anything early. It started to bother me on Monday afternoon and I didn't get to the ER until 1 am Thursday morning. Mine was (and still is) right were it enters the bladder. They said if it had moved another 8th inch it would have hit the bladder and been gone. But, it didn't. It blocked the door, so to speak and the pain was from the tubes and kidney backing up. :in pain: They said that my kidney was almost twice the size it should have been. :jawdrop: I guess that explains the aching. I didn't have a history or even a family history of them to any large degree. This is my first in 67+ years. If I don't have another one for the next 67 years I will probably be fine with it. As far as seeing a Doctor, since my Prostate Cancer diagnosis I've spent more time in Urology then I have spent with my grandchildren. :joyfull: I have another biopsy for that in July.

Wow...that's insane! My most expensive prom dress was $50! To be fair, that was 2nd hand, but still!!

There are always complainers, aren't there? My mom was my Girl Scout leader and we planned a trip to Yellowstone with our Pen Pal troop from Minnesota, but one of the girl's parents got all upset because my mom had nowhere to leave my brother, so she was just going to pay for his way separately and he would have to stay in a cabin with the leaders and not with the girls, but the parents just couldn't be convinced that he wasn't going on girl scout money or that he was not going to be in a room with her daughter. We ended up having to cancel the trip because of it. But then these same parents insisted on auctioning me off twice in our church Youth Group slave auction because my brother had a medical condition and was on crutches, so he couldn't participate in the auction. So they demanded that I had to make up for his share if he wanted to do the activity we were raising money for. So sad that parents have to make such a big deal out of something that doesn't need to be. And it usually seems to have to do with money.
Wow, I bet those parents are a riot at parties...
insane..
Are they rich or its just some weird greed stuff?

The love of money is the root of all evil.:rolleyes:;)
