Our district has a built in 30 minutes after dismissal for student or parent availability to professional staff. Appointments or prior contact no longer necessary as we had 'some' staff members that would not respond that day to avoid contact.

I wouldn't mind the 30 minute end of the day time, although I think that even with that parents should still contact the teacher to say they would like to drop in during that time. It just seems like a nice polite heads up.

So kind of you. I have a long laundry list of volunteering in our community. I avoided with great vigilance chaperoning school events like prom and dances along with field trips. I remember laughing hysterically (we were good friends) when the lead teacher asked me, a board member to chaperone a trip to WDC for a week, was not happening.

I don't mind going, and I actually got to come home early. There were a lot of parent volunteers and I wasn't really needed after the ballot counting. It is fun to see the kids all dressed up. I just can't believe the money that is spent on the dresses these days $300-500 for just a prom dress! :jawdrop: My wedding dress was barely $300, and my prom dresses were all under $100.

I have chaperoned a few youth trips for church, but after the last time I chaperoned I just am not into it any more. The kids were fine but it was all the parent drama leading up to the trip. There was a parent that accused me and my husband of just wanting a free vacation. Ummm, it was a church trip and part of his job to go and I was volunteering my time during the summer to go. And being responsible for 18 teenagers in a city over a 1000 miles away from their hometown is NOT a vacation. Especially since it was in New Orleans and we were not going to be able to do what I would have done on a vacation (which would be to relax with a couple of hurricanes ;)).

No dress for me. One of my special jobs tonight is counting the ballots for Prom Queen and King. The prom supervisor doesn't want parents counting the ballots, because there was accusations of rigging the results one year. So now the job falls to me (as a staff member) and the prom supervisors husband (who has no connection to any of the students). I guess we are trustworthy.

I like that! We no longer let the principal count the student council election ballots by himself because of rumors of rigging since the most unlikely candidates continued to prevail and complaints galore. There are now students and parents there when the ballots are counted and the outcomes are very different. We've also gone to that when parental surveys are tabulated as they were all too glorious and too many being voided as invalid.

We also save all the ballots for up to a year in case any parent wants a recount. A couple years ago we had a tie for queen, that was crazy. This year and last year the queen and king were runaway winners, no one was even close.

Sorry. I won't debate this here but I do grow weary of the US being the default blame for the world's problems when individual countries have corruption of their own. Likely why we avoid politics on the thread, it never goes well.
err, I never did blame the US in this case.
Its our president (aka Mexico's)

I was saying I was pulling a humorous "Thanks Obama" type stuff (where they blame him for anything.. even bad weather. And humorously added to those infomercial failures).

it's scary when a CVS flyer comes to your house when you don't even shop there and it's addressed to you. I went there once in the past couple years.
Some third party company probably sold your address to them.
It happens with some marketers and dirty data mining companies.
When you "opt out" or "cancel" the subscription to them. They stop sending you emails.. but they sell your email to third party companies.
Hence why you usually get MORE spam after you opt out lol.

I didn't exactly do anything early. It started to bother me on Monday afternoon and I didn't get to the ER until 1 am Thursday morning. Mine was (and still is) right were it enters the bladder. They said if it had moved another 8th inch it would have hit the bladder and been gone. But, it didn't. It blocked the door, so to speak and the pain was from the tubes and kidney backing up. :in pain: They said that my kidney was almost twice the size it should have been. :jawdrop: I guess that explains the aching. I didn't have a history or even a family history of them to any large degree. This is my first in 67+ years. If I don't have another one for the next 67 years I will probably be fine with it. As far as seeing a Doctor, since my Prostate Cancer diagnosis I've spent more time in Urology then I have spent with my grandchildren. :joyfull: I have another biopsy for that in July.
Sympathy like. Good luck with both.

Oh Dear, hope you survived. I know that feeling right now. It is yet another challenge.
Things went rather well. Getting the car was easy and I drove it to the dealership to get it rekeyed. The only issue was waiting there for my mom, she drives sooooo slow. by the time she showed up the paperwork was done and they pulled the car in. From there we went to lunch at a place by her with a really good salad bar:hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry: When I got home it looked like a tornado hit the inside of my house:eek::rolleyes::banghead: Boys:arghh::bawling::banghead::banghead::banghead: Guess what they're doing today:D
