Christmas decorating doesn't have to be over the top. A few, nicely placed decorations are just as nice as a whole bunch of them scattered all over. All we need are just a few holiday items to remind us of this joyous season.
And that is what it has come to here. A few, understated, lovely pieces and done. I've enjoyed it. By next weekend they will be down.

Nope. Freedom of speech is for everyone. :)

Yep. It is. I think my point was missed. I was not impressed or disturbed by his satire he tweeted. It just so isn't him.

So different than his stance his whole career. My thought is something struck a cord with him or he was bored or had a fifth of something. Twitter does that to some people. If he went satirical with Jews on Hanukkah or Buddhists on Vesak, Muslims on Ramadan I would have been equally as surprised. He had some fun poking at Christians on Thursday, I didn't take offense I am more surprised he opted to go down that comedic route. Not him.

While I don't share all of his views I've always liked him. He is a sharp individual.

He wasn't? Then why does my church tell me it's Christmas Day on December 25th? Why do the stores give us the countdown to December 25th?

Ha! My nun would have knocked me upside the head if I went down that road. Like many things we choose to follow observation dates or we don't. I do. Some don't.

My BFF adopted a daughter from China. Her Birthday is November 3rd. We all know that is a date the Orphanage assigned to be observed as her birth because like many dates in religion or life it is unknown. But nobody is going to tell Lilly that families and friends really know that November 3rd isn't her Birthday anyhow we honor the day as her birth. It is the day we celebrate her birth and it is as consistent for an observation date as Christmas, Ramadan, 4th of July or Veterans Day or our New Years Day. I was taught and raised with the 25th. If others want to pick another date to observe that is wondrous as well. To each there own.

Poor Hippo. Happened in Taiwan. I'm surprised they didn't try to eat it. Hippos alive.

Thank you for that response.

So, @donaldtoo , remember recently we were discussing credit card balances, etc. (especially after all the holiday shopping! :p ), well I figured out last night that I'll have my holiday gifts paid off in January, versus February. That's better than last year for me. :)

Anyway, thought you'd find this amusing: this morning, I decided to get my act together for next year's Christmas shopping spree, by finally, opening up a Christmas Club account. (I figured at least if I saved even half of what I projected I'd spend on gifts next year, I'd still be well ahead of the game.) So I went to my savings bank and told the teller that I'd like to open up a Christmas Club account. :) (MinnieM123 pats herself on the back . . . :angelic:) So, the teller then informs me that they don't have Christmas Club accounts anymore!! :arghh: :banghead: Can you stand it??!! After all these years I finally went to open up one of these accounts and they did away with them??!!

So the teller suggested that I could open up another regular savings account and "call it my Christmas Club account" . . . not . . . :in pain:

Figures.

Take the cash each check and just stash it in your safety deposit box. Not like the bank awards interest these days anyhow.

I don't have a safety deposit box either. :p Last time I checked (at my other bank) I think the cheapest boxes were around $80 and up. Not too many of the banks in our area even have those anymore; I'm not sure why. I remember years ago, many banks had them.

Anyway, it wasn't the puny interest that I was concerned about regarding a Christmas Club account, it was the fact that I couldn't touch the money until maybe Nov. 1st. For me, I tend to do better with saving money if I can't access it. (Just like IRA accounts, etc., I don't even think about the automatic deposits I've made over the years, and never think of it as available cash. It just stays there in those account.)

I get that. Wow. We have two banks and both have deposit boxes. Ours is $35 but on a whole everything on the East Coast except gasoline is higher priced than it is here.

speaking of gifts..
We used to give a lot of physical gifts.
But now, between my brothers and my close family group; We now give restaurant all-paid trips or other things that are more experience than "physical things".

To resume... I got 2 invitations to different restaurants (one to the local Outback) and a small batch of chocolate as well (ferrero rocher :hungry: ) as gifts.
That restaurant gift is a great idea! I might steal that in the future.
