I had to go to the DMV a couple days ago to get my license renewed and they were actually kind of speedy. What was funny is when the lady was helping me and all of a sudden she stood up and yelled with a bunch of attitude to the room "It is 4:30, we are only open for 30 more minutes. Some of you will not be helped, if you aren't ready with your paper work when I call you...then you get to come back tomorrow. We leave at 5:00". And then she sat down and was super polite to me. I thought it was kind of funny.
Sounds passive agressive to me. Or she really hates "helping" people. Maybe she should find another line of work. As in garbage collection, she only has to serve those who have their garbage out "on time".;););)

Call it coincidence or what ever you want to but, the last few weeks we have been talking a lot about kidney stones, stints, etc. So here's what happened. For the past 3 or 4 days I have been having "internal" problems. I had pain in the area of my appendix that radiated across the right side of my abdomen. Being a male, I waited to see if it might just go away (things like that do have a tendency to do that), but, by late Wednesday night it wasn't getting better. I wouldn't call it severe pain, more of an intense aching. I decided that if it didn't get better Thursday morning I would go to the ER. I went to bed and unable to go to sleep decided... lets go now, 1am, so I took a shower got into my car and off I went. At the ER, after a C scan it was determined that I had a kidney stone! Imagine that. They did surgery and implanted a stint because, they said, that until they are sure that there is no infection anyplace, it is better to delay. If all holds well I'm supposed to get the stone and the stint removed by June 3rd. So far, no after surgery pain at all, and they gave me some mighty fine stuff to ward that off. I wonder sometimes about the don't do's after something like that. Things like don't lift over 5 pounds for two weeks. For one thing, my arm weighs more then 5 pounds, but, even baring that I live by myself, how am I supposed to function realistically. I guess I will do what I have always done and comply as well as I can, occasionally throwing caution to the wind.

I have a question about Facebook. Can anyone tell me why certain Friends can post something on my status page and even though I consistently tell Facebook that I don't want to see that particular post anymore, it is always there when I sign back on. It doesn't happen with all of them, it seems remarkably random, but, maybe someone knows why.
What was the size of your stone? Hubby was only told to not lift for a couple days. He has a morphine type pill, he hates drugs, and took one and said it made him loopy, so he will deal with the pain, and discomfort. His choice. I took my meds, although having lipotrypsy is more painful than going up and taking one out. They pretty much blast your kidney so you have spasms for the first week after. I guess everyone is different, I hope they find out what it is made of. Maybe I should have taken hubby to the ER and we wouldn't have had to deal with this so long. I'm sorry you are having stones, I 'm glad the pain is okay for your. Maybe, hubby and I are wimps!

Dont forget the "hanging balls" ornament in the back of the pick up.
You cant be a true Texan Hero(tm) without having one of these (lol)

anyway.. health update time!

Went to the doc..
turns out I had a variety of infections that triggered the stomach cold.
Not to mention I have my troat severely irritated.. I mean reaaaally irritated (pustules in all my troat. One side with more than the other).
So my doc gave me some strong antibiotics, pain pills, swelling stuff.. and fever stuff.
I'm so sorry, do you have strep throat? That's a killer for the body.

Well, I have had my first (and second) legal drink.

I requested my dad to get tickets for the O's game and to go to Dempsey's, the full-service restaurant in Camden Yards, today. He got the tickets from work and we did go to Dempsey's. My mom and I got cocktails with dinner...

Mine was a Cherry Lemonade (which had Vodka in it).

A few hours later, I had wine...

Don't ask me what it is. Bar tender listed three wines. I asked him to give me the sweatest one.

Also discovered that wine has little effect on me other than relaxing me and making me want to sleep. Vodka makes me act just plain silly. I think even my brother was wondering what was going on with me.

It wasn't warm. Misted on us the whole game. But my hair just went into ringlets (miraculously) and the Orioles won.

Weird thing is that one year ago today, the Orioles played the White Sox in front of an empty stadium due to the riots, and beat the White Sox. Today, they played...the White Sox. Again. Weird coincidence.

So it was great. Exactly what I wanted. Next week is my chorus concert, and one of my friends is coming, so we might go out afterward. Otherwise, waiting until after the semester is over.
I'm glad you had a great birthday. Many more happy one's to come!

@StarWarsGirl , happy belated birthday. :cat: Glad you got to celebrate in style and enjoy your first (two) "legal" drinks! :joyfull: Sorry I missed your birthday, but I was out celebrating myself--22 years of wedded bliss! (Note: I was the one who said that, not hubby! :p ) I find it necessary to occasionally remind him how blissful he is with me . . . :hilarious:

We went out to a really nice restaurant, and I also had an "adult" beverage--some sort of fruity concoction in a martini glass. I'm not up on mixed drinks, so I couldn't tell you what the heck was in it, but it was sweet and tasty! :hungry:
Congrats, on 22 years. Hubby and I will be celebrating at Hoop De Doo for our 48, with kids and grand kids. Our pick. I love that place! Last time we went there the youngest was only two, when everyone was swinging their napkins around, the two year old put his on his head. We have a really cute picture of him, 7 years ago!

Good idea... never can be too careful. I wanted to blame @betty rose for this, but, then I remembered that unless I was a Ground Hog, she wouldn't hurt anyone so... I blame Meg!
Thanks, I've been passing crystals (small stones, as I said spring and fall is when most stones give trouble). Have a beer, and good luck! Just kidding. Hubby is so glad to have that behind him.

I don't think that you are wimps, but, I do sometimes wonder if I have a higher pain tolerance then some. I had a period of 35 years when I kept having involuntary muscle spasms mostly in my abdomen. Those suckers hurt something awful. But, I have hardly ever used pain killers because I haven't needed them. I had my leg surgery and I never took the pain meds. I never needed them. This, I didn't recognize as a stone because I didn't have, to my knowledge, the degree of pain that I had heard that others had. When in the ER I was very uncomfortable with a constant ache in my side. The Doctor offered me a choice of Tylenol or morphine. I first said Tylenol, and after about 20 minutes I asked how long it would take for that to kick in. They said, probably another half hour. They said that I shouldn't let myself be in pain when I didn't have to be and was I sure I didn't want the morphine. At that point I was uncomfortable enough to let them give me a bit and within minutes all the pain was gone. What a nice medicine that stuff is. After that and they sent me home with Oxycodone. In the hospital it worked but it took a lot longer. After that one time I just got Tylenol and I haven't had any pain since then so I have some excess of one of the most popular controlled drugs on the market today.

Anyway, all those words to say... I really don't know why. Maybe I identify pain differently then others, but, if that is the case I'll let it stay that way because it makes it easier to get through stuff.

I'm so glad that you can be medicated easily. When, I had my first stone, and didn't know what was happening I was in pain and thought I could tough it out. So I had pain, for a couple days ( I never go to the Dr. until it's horrible). Hubby started to go to work, something told him to come home. I was lying in pain at that moment. He said I have to go to the dr. and I didn't object at that point. I went to the Dr. and the stone was at the opening of the kidney, and couldn't pass urine. To make a long story short, the Dr. said I was filled with poison, no wonder I couldn't think clearly. They gave me toradol and antibiotics to stabilize me. They said I was near death. The lithotrypsy was scheduled four days later. As toradol causes your blood to thin. I was put on a strong antibiotic, to kill the infection in my body. I had lipotryphsy, and got well. I go to the urologist to monitor how many stones I have brewing, each year, as does all my family, I hope my information will keep you from making the mistake I made. You were certainly more observant than I was, with my first stone. I wish I had taken action earlier, but my mind was mush, by the time I realized I was in trouble. Since then, I have a urologist watching me and the family. I hope you find a good urologist. Please go every year and have an x-ray. That way they can take care of a stone before it becomes to big, or in the wrong place. :inlove:
