Grrrrr.....the postal service is the most worthless organization in the world. Okay, so they're other organizations that are more worthless but....i picked USPS today.

Oh Dear, what happened. When my DD was in college in Central IL (me in Northern IL) and my DS was in the Disney College Program-Orlando, Priority mail got to them the same day, 2 day service. Boggled my mind.

Must be a joke in your area, I've never heard any joking about being a communist. That's just not a funny (very insulting) thing around here.
not here, infact, I've seen that joke being pulled by americans more than anywhere else (in social media sites).
Aka anyone who likes to help, share their stuff, etc.. (very akin to the real jesus teachings). Were mocked down as "being a commie".
Infact, the most used joke is how if Jesus was alive today. He would have been shunned for being a "socialist" or 'communist".

Yeah there were hoppers back then, that was the year of my DS first trip, a 5 day one. I believe hoppers were introduced the first year Epcot opened, they ditched the booklets and had up to 4 day passports and this new thing called Annual Passports. The next year there were 3 parks. Well 2.5 at best but 3 gates. :geek: The beginning of our minimum of annual pilgrimages to Disney for 2 weeks. Miss those days. :(
I actually wonder. How good were the hotels maintained back then?
How many hotels where back then?
I suppose 90% of the land was pretty much virgin on these years.
Now its full of developments who are pretty much surrounding WDW's area from all sides.

Yikes! Beware of what you believe in social media sites. Caution, if stuff is said like that to so many of us we would not like you as much as we do. Sure we have our weirdo's and yes they do find their places to spu that type of stuff but I've never ever heard that. So I'd be careful in judging the whole lot of us by some social media sites.

I only stayed at the Contemporary when the park opened. We stayed in the hotels on Hotel Blvd that were not owned by Disney but treated like Disney resorts. They were embraced similar to Swan and Dolphin back then. It really was not that much different. Even as you take buses now there is still so much forest to view along the way to parks. It was very different though. Downtown Disney was far more quaint and charming, hardly the mega mall it is becoming now. There were playgrounds and play water squirts. Take out sandwiches, not fast food, buy a bottle of wine, sit under a tree. Charming. Golfing was a treasure at WDW when I was small as were the boats on the water. But everyone pretty much left the compound at night for something to do. Church Street was great nightlife. Me, once I had a kid (2 parks his first year) it was different for us. Staying on property cost prohibitive and there wasn't a night life beyond a drink from our hotel bar as we had a little kid. We started staying on site again in the summer of 1990 I believe when the Carribean moderate opened. Hate that resort, but loved it then because my DS loved the pirate pool. By 1991-2 both Port Orleans and Dixie Landings opened. My DD has never stayed off property. Funny what a few years brought to then anyhow affordability. It was $89 a night.

Shades of Green was the Disney Inn and available to guests. Near Downtown Disney there was another resort and within it was houses, townhomes, condo's and a hotel along with the Original Tree Houses, plus the Contemporary and Poly, so three in route to the Magic Kingdom the rest originally downtown Disney and Hotel Blvd. row. They were beyond amazing. BV Palace downtown was beyond coveted.
Spotless resorts with staff that knew how to treat guests.

Congrats on the cruise!
Yea, that's why we didn't do it...with only 2 Park days it just didn't make sense to us.

And, it'll be here before you know it...! ;) :)
We've never gotten hoppers before this trip. So far every trip we've done together the plan was buy base tickets and add them on if needed. So far we haven't needed them, but with the plans for this trip we have a few hops planned and resort meals so it was cheaper just to get the included.

Good morning we have a busy day ahead. My dh ds need bathing suits, i have a few groceries to grab and I'm getting my hair cut, going really short. If I'm going to be in Orlando for almost a month in summer I want wash shake and done not to mention the daily down poured on, water parks and water rides. I want easy. I'm doing it this far out in case it's too short it will have a bit of time to grown in. Enjoy the rest of you're weekend!

Meh. At some point they moved my Dad again yesterday. Those ambulance transports never run on time. This time they moved him 30 some miles East in a NorthShore suburb of Chicago, almost to the Lake Front.! :jawdrop: Despite telling him he was going for physical rehab he stuck with the idea that he was going home. Bet it wasn't pretty when he landed at rehab. I'm sure he didn't make a good first impression. My Mom will go today.

Me, it is going to be a beautiful day here today, almost summer like so that should make me happy.
Wait....rehab...does that mean he's doing better? I thought they didn't move you to rehab until the main treatments were done. Did they even figure out what was wrong with him?

Yep, the only trips we've ever done without hoppers was in '88 on our honeymoon, and this last Princess 5K trip in Feb.
There were only 2 Parks in '88, plus they didn't offer them (that I remember), and we only had 2 Park days in Feb. (MK, Epcot), so we didn't opt for them.
But, on all other trips we've opted for them. We like the flexibility factor, and have been known to visit all 4 parks in the same day. :)
I've only had hoppers once, and I'm pretty sure that was in like....85/86. I remember riding the monorail between Epcot and Magic Kingdom. But maybe you didn't need hoppers yet then? I'm SOOOO excited to have them again for this trip!! I remember how much fun it was just to ride the monorail between the two. And we went back and forth a lot. We LOVED Epcot. It's my favorite park to this day. I'd be perfectly happy to do nothing but Epcot and just spend a day in every "country". But I think my husband and kids might object to that.

Lovely. Glad your tummies are full.

Is that pork crust as black as it appears? The middle looks so yummy. :p Your Mac & Cheese looks delicious too. Likely wasted on me though 'cause I'm a kid when it comes to Mac & Cheese. I'm a Kraft Original gal with the liquid plastic cheese in a pouch. :hungry:
I know.:banghead: Just can't help myself.
Me too...we don't have it over here, but there's a store that sells a few American products and that's one of them, so I get them once in a while. But I like homemade, too. I actually need a recipe for that....most recipes I've seen call for cheddar and/or velveta, neither of which we have here.
