he looked allright.climate wise, it was hot.. 28C most of the day.

today was sooo different, it started raining and kept raining worse.. most live shows canceled, ended soaked..
finally tried splash mountain (we all did it with a poncho on).
yikes! the second drop (the dark one) feels way harder than the final one (the one that throws you to the spiked trees)

we also did thunder railroad, haunted mansion and the barnstormer. My niece and I also did the pooh ride and a M&G with Merida.
sadly, we had to cut down the day because my mother was freezing herself. It was windy in the last hours.
pics to follow.
Oh that's a bummer!! How long are you there? Can you catch the canceled shows on a different day?

I just talked to them a few months ago when I began planning. You have to leave a credit card number and they charge $10 if you don't cancel 72 hours out. Yes you're correct I'll have to call every day for my off site days
Is it 72 hours? All the websites and guidebooks say 24!! We tried to move our trip 2 days later because the flight we were looking at was cheaper then, but the resort where we're staying was booked, so we couldn't. We're still looking for flights though because when hubby went back to book the flight, it was 300 Euros more per person again, so we didn't book it. But it looks like it's going to be cheaper now to fly to Orlando than to Denver, which means we'll probably need to get a motel room for a night before flying on to Denver. The plus side is that then it's a domestic flight to get to Disney and we can use Magical Express without having to go through customs first. But we are looking at a TS restaurant on the evening we arrive so I need to make an ADR, but hubby isn't sure we are going to want to do ANYTHING that evening, so he doesn't want to commit to reservations. I figured we'd be able to cancel 24 hours out if we were tired.

@Songbird76 if you can get a few rain ponchos and glow sticks for the night time shows also sunscreen. They can be be expensive in the bubble.
Already done. I bought them MONTHS ago. I bought like...150 glow sticks, a bunch of glow rings, I got the kids each one glow wand and my daughter a glow tiara, so they have enough glow sticks and rings for each night we're there and we can hand some out to other kids around us. I also bought several rain ponchos for each of us and a travel umbrella for my husband and another for myself. They usually have bogo sales on sunscreen early in the summer, so I'll get it when it's cheap and I can stock up!

Yes, we are a colorful bunch. We can track my Mom's family easier. My Dad's family is strange what can I say. I can track my Dad's father and his name change too at Ellis along with his departing port, his Mom is another story. The port of departure is a head scratcher and I'm certain it is her. She didn't share much about life before coming to the US and if we asked curiosity questions it was generally met with replies like, why are you asking? Why do you need to know this? Like I said that side of the family is odd and for the most part we've been estranged from the whole bunch since I was a teen when my Gran passed. Both my Sis and I would love to get our hands on her original immigration papers.
Can you request immigration papers? I have no idea, but I know you can request military files. I read somewhere when I was doing genealogy that a lot of immigrants back in the 1800s, when my relatives came over from Germany, didn't know how to spell their names. So the workers at Ellis Island just spelled them how they sounded, so you always have to do phonetic searches because the same person's name might be spelled differently, depending on who was filling out the documents. For example, the name Miller, was originally Möeller, but because we don't have the ö and it sounded closest to Miller or Muller, that's how it was spelled. So in some documents, it might be spelled one way, and in another in a different place. Osborne/Osborn/Osburn/Osbourne is another one that is commonly spelled several different ways.

The 60 days are up on Feb 1, but then we have to go to court to obtain the unlawful detainer, which he can contest and take to trial, so there's no guarantee we'll get it. Or, he could come to his senses and agree to settle out of court like a reasonable person. Not likely, though!
Poor guy won't know what hit him if he takes it to court. You never know what a judge will do, and I am betting they will laugh at his blaming you for your daughter getting a cold. Obviously he has nothing REAL to implicate you with, and they will see his shenanigans for what they are and the judge will most likely be offended by him wasting the courts time with trivial matters that could have been dealt with out of court by a more mature person. He's acting like a spoiled child and it won't do him any favors.

Hey all. Hope all is well. I've been a little off the grid over the holiday season, but I hope you all had an amazing time with your loved ones. Here are a few quick holiday memories from my break (office was closed for 2 weeks!):

Oh wait, I'm sad. I meant to have a drink in my hand in every single picture.

;)

Oh well, that last one blew it. Happy new year anyway, everyone. May 2016 be a really wonderful year for us all.

The original resorts, including the ones they knocked down in DTD were nice sized. The Contemporary is too busy of a resort for my liking but we did appreciate the extra space in the room. That was my problem with AKL Resort rooms they were about the size of the moderates with the same amenities in the room except we had a balcony. Since I could count the minutes I spent on the balcony I was hard pressed to go all the way out there and pay substantially more for a smallish standard room. We spend almost all of our awake hours in the parks so the rest was wasted on us. While the lobby was beautiful, I never spent any time in the lobby beyond checking in.

I have to say the year we got bumped out of POR and shifted to AKL for the same price for the 4th of July week was more than acceptable though. Then my package trip was oversold for our 7am flight, $400 in Disney Dollars to take the 10 am flight. Then they couldn't find our Disney Dollars so they gave us some upon check-in cause it was noted on our reservations. Then there on our table was $400 in Disney Dollars waiting for us the next day (likely the originals). We explained, they looked at us like we were from Mars, and said enjoy them. Yep, that trip worked out nicely. Upgrade to a deluxe resort and $800 in Disney Dollars for taking a 3 hour later flight. When we use to book all inclusive packages, Walt Disney Travel was the best.
Wow, that's amazing! Now THAT is what I call compensation!! I wouldn't have complained at all!

Thanks for posting UNI, I don't think I will make it there. DD wants to wait until youngest can ride most of the rides. He is very small in height for his age. Hubby is too cheap to pay for a cab to go there, along with tickets. Have the best time. I'm living through your (our) trip. Say a special "hello" to your Mother, she is a special woman, to have raised a "special" son!
use ubber.. we were surprised how good and cheap it is.
no seriously.. I was quoted 55 USD with a mears cab..
the ubber got here in 5 mins (you could track it via the app) and was only 14.90 USD from Disney's old key west to double tree.
plus the guy was bilingual!

I'm going to go into hibernation on Thurs. and Friday. I'm pulling my curtains closed and pretending it's not snowing. The house temperature is going to 75! I'm doing two pj's days! I should be good! Plus a margarita to keep me warm!
funny you mention invernation. we are so sore.. that my mother and I claimed we are going to cocoon for a week to recover.
aka invernating and not doing anything.

I don't know why, but Jimminy made my day...and Pinocchio is one of my least favorite Disneys, though I do have a bit of a soft spot for Jimminy...he tried so hard.

I will make a proper report when I'm back and I clear up all the things I have to ketchup both on work and on other websites.
I can only speak for myself, but it's certainly not annoying me!! I LOVE the pics. And that last one of the Castle in purple with the lights...OMG, I wish the castle was lit like that the whole year. I'll have to show my DD later. She will LOVE those pics.
