We've always flown Southwest Airlines to WDW. No major problems, no lost luggage. Except for our trip this coming February...we're flying Delta. Even though we have layovers in Atlanta both ways, it was cheaper this time, and we're only takin' carry on luggage.
When we flew to DLR in June of '10, we flew Frontier Airlines. As far as I remember, those were direct flights from Austin. No problems. :)

I will do anything I can possibly do to avoid Atlanta, even more that I do to avoid Ohare.

Oh I would have played that disability card. Cardinal Rule. Don't mess with the patrons with disabilities. Me, I wanted all my special assistant passengers boarded ASAP before anything could go wrong. Are your reservations flagged as Special Assistance passenger?
no, after the snafu by united, I did not want to be messed up with the "service" and get worse service than normal.
maybe I should have , right?
never done American Airlines before.

See my Mom is 80 now, gets a bit confused and panic sets in when something goes wrong like when her flight this fall was cancelled.
Now I flag her ticket and they put her in a wheelchair, take her through security to the gate and put her onboard first. Having an advocate in case something goes wrong is always a good thing. My kids tickets when they went on vacation with my Sis were always flagged as
UM (unaccompanied minor) required when they were little but I did it until they were 18. It was for the one on one service they had should something go wrong. It also allowed me a security pass to meet the plane in the boarding area.

Nice!

How were the crowd levels today?

they were very low when we arrived at 9:45am. it was raining very softly.
reached very crowded status around 2 pm(peter pan had 75 minutes by then).
stopped raining at around 2pm until after festival of fantasy (thanks god!)
was VERY CROWDED during festival of fantasy.
Then after 3:00pm got darker and started rain more and more.
temps dropped and wind started.
I went to splash mountain which was almost walk on. (10 minute wait time reported, around 30 people in queue).
after splash, it continued to rain a lot.
thus the crowds were less and less.
by 7:00 pm when we left, almost everyone was either in the shops or leaving.

I avoided naming my children odd names, weirdly spelled, dated family names, in memory of anyone for that and other reasons. A name should never be a burden IMO. I've always been in the camp if you loved uncle that much and want to honor uncle, change your own name to that, the newborn has no say. I fixed my name when I was married, it is free to legally change then. Way too annoying to have a strange spelling of your name and it was always being questioned or spelled wrong.
My family all have Celtic names as far back as my great grandparents and it just followed down the line to us. Doesn't sound like or pronounced how it's spelled but it's mine. :)

That is sweet.

I kept the name, fixed the spelling. I have friends who their families have fixed the spelling of their last names. Imagrating and certain languages make for very long last names with bunches letters with no american vowels. Painful.

When my Grandfather immigrated he left with the name Seamus. Here his name became James. My Gran Lizzy, became Elizabeth from Eilis. Both were changed at Ellis.

@Cesar R M Did you note Disney extended the Osborne Lights 3 additional days???
nope, but we're already done from DHS.

This trip is not for me, its for my niece, so she decided to go to magic kingdom again.
She loved all the parks.

Ps, I finally rode Splash mountain.. and all the animatronics were working perfectly.
it was AWESOME.. (ps, that darn second drop was unexpected.. aka the dark one)

Splash has been one of my favorites since it opened. So much imagineering. I hope you get to ride again. So many details to be seen when you get past the drops.

Going to see a Beach Boys concert tonight

Way behind as per usual, but, hope it was a great show! :)
An old HS friend of mine used to be a partial owner of the only Carlos' N Charlie's location in the US here in Austin on Lake Travis. Unfortunately, they had to close it down a coupla' years ago because the drought had so negatively affected business.
Anyway, during the summer they used to have concerts on their beach there all the time. We used to work security and take tickets at a lot of them, and in the summer of '12 (I believe it was?) we worked a Beach Boys concert there.
Although the only original-ish members left from the band at that time were Mike Love and Bruce Johnston, it was an awesome show!
And, of course, we got to meet all of them.
It was cool...! :)

technically, I do not need to pass thru security anymore. Since I have the card of "trusted traveler" I'm already entitled for Pre-tsa.
We used it already. No problems on my side. Except of course, AA screwing the connection flight because of delayed dispatch of the needed plane from Dallas to PVR.
