That is what we had but with ice pellets. The ice pellets look like snow when there are inches on the ground but it is much heavier and so freak'n slippery.

My DD lives in the heart of our town. She said the plow is acting nuts in front of her building. Plowing the parking spots up front fast and then flooring it in reverse. Back and forth. At $45K a pick-up ouch. She said the sidewalk clearing machine has been out for hours already.

Down to intermittent now. Enough.

It's the warmest trip we've ever had here. 70s every single day. Today was absolutely gorgeous.

And my aunt brought her two granddaughters (who she is raising because their parents are drug addicts) spent the weekend here. WE haven't seen them since they moved last year, and I've never seen them so happy and settled. These are girls who've basically been to h*ll and back, and you wouldn't know it to be around them. That was the best part of this trip.

I remember the saga well. How sad to start life that way. How old are they now. Happy to hear they are doing well. Bless that Grandma.

The older one will be 7 in April; the younger just turned five. They are so well-behaved for kids who had no training whatsoever the first years of their lives. Well settled as well. although at times you can still tell that they have a past, especially the younger one. I didn't realize this until my aunt told me...the younger one as a baby was pretty much left in her crib 24/7. Their mom gave the older one all the attention and the younger none. So now the younger will come and demand your attention and tends to be clingy. The older one we think may have been molested. Her mom also never took her to the dentist, and now, she barely has any of her own teeth. Most have had to be pulled, and she has some false teeth in there. She's had more dental work done in the past year than I've had in my entire life. When my aunt first got them, they would eat as fast as they could and then hide food, and my aunt and uncle had to keep assuring them that there would be more food there for them when they were hungry again. But overall, they are happy, settled, and well-behaved. And my aunt will do whatever it takes to make sure that they never end up back in that situation ever again.

The younger one is a handful. I definitely favor the older one, although I tried not to let it show (I think the older one figured it out anyway; she loved monopolizing my attention). Funny story: I ran into a CM who has known me since I was 12 or 13. I introduced her to my nieces, and the CM says to them, "Oh, you're in good hands." And the older one goes, "Yeah, except she's crazy."o_O :rolleyes: I told her I am not crazy; my mother had me tested. Obviously, she didn't get the reference...:hilarious:

Good morning it seems we got a bit of ice last night so I'm going nowhere today. My dh can take today off so I'm not even going to try and get him moving until at least 8. He said if the roads improve he'll try and go in a bit late. I just looked outside the carp is still coming down and it's 28 degrees and the wind is howling. I was planning on getting some things done but with all the men home I don't think so:cautious:

Thank goodness your friend is ok! I had no idea so many flights were cancelled. Our flight is delayed by an hour today, I hope it stays that way.
