That is a very good paragraph. And I agree.

I do what I can within reason. I have a huge recycle bin that at times I fill as so many things can be tossed in there over the trash bin next to it outside. We now put our grass, twigs and other like natural products in yet another bin so this stuff no longer goes off to the landfills. I am a tree hugger. I do not have a real tree only because I am allergic though. There are tree farms for this commodity. I do get sad though progress or not when I see trees come down that don't need to. I lost 3 big ones due to age in 5 years. My home heats up much quicker now without them in the summer, my electric bill has shown that.

I'm OK with the reusable bags for products that do not ever leak. There have been so many tests of the bacteria in these reusable bags that are not really washable. And if you have to wash them then there is that too. The frugal me just reuses the plastic ones for Walt walks rather than buy more plastic bags. We still have a print newspaper delivered to the home 7 days a week. Yes we all could read online but on the flipside it employees many people to print it and deliver it so there is that. Plus the newspaper is always recycled with all the junk mail that lands in my mailbox. But as you said in a post the God Given things. I eat the fish, drink the wine but if I remember correctly I was taught this from a babe in religion class that the good book had Him eating fish and drinking wine.;)

Me, I guess I am a moderate about such things. I am not wasteful however I am a 21st century consumer.
Where I live, we are issued several containers for different kinds of trash. We have one for paper, one for food and plant things....anything natural that can be composted or whatever, one for plastic, cans and cartons, and one for everything else. So if I mow the lawn, I put the grass and weeds in the green container, the plastic tray from meat or a soup can goes into the black with the grey lid, orange peels or stale bread go into the green with the grass, we were given one for paper, but we take paper and glass to the recycle point by the grocery store to save money since you have to pay for the containers. But it's all separated and recycled.

Just popping in. I still have one more week of the busies, so I am going to try to go through just a couple of pages here every day until I have time to do a proper "ketchup". I managed to re-injure my hip at work on Monday, but I'm thankfully not scheduled to work again until next Friday, and most of the stuff on my "to do" list at the moment at least does not require much (if any) walking. I have children's choir rehearsal to direct this afternoon, and I've decided not to go to the 50th birthday party for one of my choir cohorts because it will likely be standing room only, which I can't do at the moment. I'm trying not to catch DD's throat infection...she had a 103.4 temp Monday morning, but antibiotics have helped enormously and she no longer has a fever and swallowing isn't excruciating for her. Hope everyone here is healthy and happy and ready for Christmas! I'll read a couple of pages here and then get on with laundry (I did 4 loads yesterday, and yet somehow today, I'm still running behind...I don't see how!) and vacuuming and a bit of baking for the school Christmas market. I should be back on my regular schedule after next week and I'll be here more.
Sympathy like get well soon.

We have really good ones, nice and light and no power cord needed. Have you ever heard of a slide rule:D

We have a lawn/landscaping bin. We don't do compost stuff here. Area found it bred rats and mice. Not worth the trade-off.

Wow...that's...wow. I mean, my in-laws wanted grandkids in the worst way, but they didn't go THAT far! Had they given any indication that they wanted to have kids right away that maybe that was her way of supporting them?

No indication, so not in the plans. My MIL on the otherhand had her first child 9.5 months after they were married.

Sympathy like. Do you have any retirement villages by you? Some of them are really nice and have recreation. My mom's building even does bus trips to AC.

There are an abundance of retirement villages in Northern Illinois. My MIL is in one and refuses to participate and rarely leaves her apartment. They sign her up for stuff and bus trips. She is always a no show.

My Mom would do well. My Dad well he'd likely get tossed out.
