I think it hit 74 in NYC today and more of the same for tomorrow. But global warming doesn't exist.

And how was everyone's Halloween?

;)

Hey Buddy! Nice to see you on this thread! Do you realize it's been a month since you finished your last TR? I'm starting to get the shakes…Could you just make up a TR so I can get my fix of hilarity? :p

To answer your question, I made myself a nice dinner, had a big beer, and watched Scream and Scream 2. Good times. :cat:

Apparently, waking up at every little sound after we had kiddos is a way I've gotten in touch with my feminine side...?! :D ;) :)

Hmmm…so then this is really you? (Again no pants!)

ugh.... I still do not understand that dumb mentality.
Its almost like the racial thing against blacks. Its like some men feel their position of "top person" is somehow endangered if they let other groups gain more liberty or opportunities.

Just be thankful you don't understand the mentality. Many people simply don't question the status quo and just go along with what other people believe mainly because they're not on the receiving end of the prejudice. Therefore, I don't know if it's fear so much as pure ignorance or narcissism as to why some men feel they are superior.

Wow! I'm glad I didn't have that growing up. I think if I would have grown up in another time I would have been one of those trouble making suffragettes. One of my room mates in college that that view of college is a place to meet a man, not get an education. She actually flunked out of college because when her boyfriend broke up with her she stopped going to classes. She didn't know what to do with herself now that she didn't have a man. It disgusted me and I had very little sympathy for her, she wasted a lot of money for nothing.

I probably would have been a troublemaker, too, but not until college. Before then, I would have gone along with the herd, as I didn't have the confidence to think otherwise. I was a serious late bloomer.

Yep...well, my dad is 82 now, so he's quite...old-fashioned (and very misogynistic) and he brought me to his lawyer to talk about the future. I was 14 and he had his lawyer talk to me about my desire to go to college, because women don't belong in higher education. The only thing a woman needs from college is to find a husband to support her and even if a women does manage to make it through college without getting married, her degree is worth nothing, because she is female and it's a man's world. The only jobs fit for a woman are teaching, nursing, and secretarial work. Needless to say, my father wasn't willing to contribute to my education.
At least you weren't Catholic as becoming a nun would have also been an option

The real question would be, would you use all the extra bells and whistles? I think about a tailor I've done business with for quite a few years. He has an old Singer machine with no digital readouts, no fun attachments, etc. But you should see the high quality, custom work he does for some of his clients (original men's suits in fine fabrics, designed and sewn by him)--all with his old, basic Singer.

Maybe go read some reviews of various machines on Google. That might help.
I use most of the bells and whistles on the machine that's been dying for quite a while so one with less features may not be the way to go. I love the decorative stiches for doing crazy quilts (that name fits me, better I say it before @MR FERRET) One of those blocks makes for a nice pot holder when you don't know what color the person's kitchen is (teacher gifts) I spent a good bit of time looking at different machines with the features I want and checked out reviews on several sites and I think I know which machine I want. Now I'm hoping it goes on a really good sale soon.

:hilarious: Of course--you and Phil are always the last ones in any restaurant--why should it be any different on Halloween??!! :p

Sorry that your team did not win for you. Although I don't follow baseball, I have cousins in N.Y. who has supported the Mets for an eternity; I felt bad for them, too, when the Mets lost. Well, you know, there's always next year! ;)
I've gotten over my being upset as they did much better than expected, They're also a young team that's still building for the future so next year may be very, very good
