Yep...well, my dad is 82 now, so he's quite...old-fashioned (and very misogynistic) and he brought me to his lawyer to talk about the future. I was 14 and he had his lawyer talk to me about my desire to go to college, because women don't belong in higher education. The only thing a woman needs from college is to find a husband to support her and even if a women does manage to make it through college without getting married, her degree is worth nothing, because she is female and it's a man's world. The only jobs fit for a woman are teaching, nursing, and secretarial work. Needless to say, my father wasn't willing to contribute to my education.Isn't it funny how differently we were all brought up? Mom told my sister who was the prettiest, that she should go all out to catch a man. She ended up marrying someone who abused her.Such bad advice, but that was what was expected for the time. I'm so glad things have changed! I was told to study hard and get a good job!
That was our upbringing too. I'm glad times have changed. I encouraged DD to follow her dreams, and she did.Yep...well, my dad is 82 now, so he's quite...old-fashioned (and very misogynistic) and he brought me to his lawyer to talk about the future. lucky you, since I'm deaf, I get oversensitive at night.. any vibration, light variation or heavy noise.. I instantly wake up like an alien just probed my butt D:I used to be able to sleep through anything, but no more. Not since becoming a mommy.
weird, I cant see his image..Awww, so cute!
Oh my gosh you guys.....
I just spent my entire lunch break reading this thread and there are still 10 pages I didn't get to.
I have to go to a meeting.
I'm trying to keep up but holy moley....
I'll be back later but I can't imagine how far behind I'll be by then.
I need to figure out how to keep up.
they're spying on you!!! XDgoing to take a couple minutes of very valuable time to comment on this for @JenniferS. how did you how did you manage to arrange to have six Canadians at my table on the ship? All from Ontario!
Yep, I was fortunate that most people didn't feel that way, so I was able to get lots of scholarships and I graduated with honors from college. I am bringing my kids up to believe they can be what they want. So far DD wants to be a pop star and a fashion designer ( so she can design the clothes she wears on stage) and DS wants to be a soccer player (naturally) and a DJ, so he can do the music for DD.That was our upbringing too. I'm glad times have changed. I encouraged DD to follow her dreams, and she did.
being serious.. no idea why I imagined that as a reason for the random school shootings of lately x_XWow, that must be tough in the teenage years.![]()
One year me and my little sister both got chicken pox so my dad bought each a bag of Kit Kats.I know, right?! But even if one of the kid's was sick, I would just go out and buy them a bunch of candy myself.
Me too! Yum.Anything with pasta, and bread has my name on it. I'm making a veggie pizza today!
They migrate through our area twice a year. That's when the alerts go out to make sure the barn and chicken coops doors stay closed and bring in your pets at night. I actually saw one that had gotten plowed over on the highway. We have signs at our park down the street, saying coyote's in the area.
I'm 5' 1", I used to be 5' 3 1/2". That's what gravity will do to you (and old age)!
Do you have regulations about that where you live? I know where I was in the States, there was no rule about it...parents took kids out for vacations all the time. But over here, you get fined if the kids miss a day when they weren't sick if you don't get permission, and you only get permission for special things like death of an immediate family member, or a big anniversary...over here,12.5 years is the first big anniversary. (10 is nothing) So we got the kids out for 2 days and had a long weekend for our 12.5 year anniversary.
