I pay cash for just about everything that is not on the dining plan. If it is a big purchase I'll use my debit card.
I also put $100 on a gift card so we could easily get a bottle of water, ice cream etc when I didn't want to drag out wallet. Years ago all our spending money was in $100 units of travelers checks. It worked well 'cause you didn't have too much cash at a time. I liked travelers checks.

I miss travelers checks, actually. But the flip side to them is all the signing you have to do. Now. AMEX pushes the plastic cards instead. But with the old travelers checks, it was a little quicker to keep track of how much money you had left. With the preloaded cards, I had to save the receipts and add up a tally each night. (One good thing about the actual Disney cash cards, is that they print out the balance on the receipt after each transaction.) I had a couple of Disney cards and one Visa cash card for expenses, for my last trip to WDW in May. Worked out well.

There have been a few references over the past few days to the PeopleMover. Can I tell you how much I love that ride? In WDW, it first began operating in 1975, as the WEDway PeopleMover; and then in 1994 through 2009, was referred to as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. In 2010, it was renamed (again) as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover.

All I know is whatever they want to call it, it's one of the most perfect, classic rides since the 70s. It's pleasant, relaxing, you get a nice breeze, the views are great, and it lasts long enough to really enjoy the experience. (I think i liked the actual narration best when it was the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.)

So, there you have it. MinnieM123's tribute to the PeopleMover!

While I always carried credit cards as an emergency back-up, we had an allowance pretty well figured out for each day. We started with just the one kid and then 5 years later 2 kids. $100 a day very comfortably covered our meals and snacks. We'd pay with a travelers check at breakfast and had the cash for the rest of the day and usually some left over.

Our first trip with our son, 14 months was $1100.00 including airfare for 7 nights off-sight. Off-sight wasn't an issue in the off season and that first year there were only 2 parks so we hit Sea World which he loved. By the time my DD was born Walt Disney World Travel Corp offered a free breakfast anywhere including character breakfasts so the $100 per day if you were a resort guest.

Coke Cola is branding their own milk that they claim will be better for you and ultra filtered. Fair Life will cost you twice what regular milk does.

Painting 'sleeping lady' found in set of movie Stuart Little and an art historian spotted the painting in the background. Set designer bought the 90 year old painted for little at an Antique shop in Cali that had disappeared in the 1920's.
