So since @betty rose has had trouble with blood draw lately, I had to share my story of today. Luckily I didn't have as many troubles. Although as my hubby was driving me to the clinic this morning at 5:30am (so I could go before work) we were almost into town and a HUGE deer ran in front of our car. It was a big buck and had a huge rack (antlers). Luckily hubby's breaks works and no other car was around so we avoided it!

Then once at the clinic I got the blood draw lady that always stabs me. She was the only one working. Luckily she found a vein right away but was rough and I still have some discomfort bending and unbending my arm. Ugh. Anyway, hopefully my results are good, just a check on my blood sugar A1C's. I have a feeling it might get me a lecture from the doc tomorrow...

I'm sorry your arm is hurting, but glad you avoided the deer! Hoping for good results, too! :)

Well if your car had to break down at least you had help handy. Having your parents around to help out is a blessing.
In cases like this, yes. They drive me crazy, and my dad and I can argue, and argue, and argue, and argue, but they're right there when I need them. I'm sure, though, when I eventually move out of state (since I have no intention of living in Maryland for the rest of my life, or north of about SC for that matter), whenever something happens, I'm going to call my mom and be like, "Mommy, what do I do? I can't adult!":hilarious:

Drinking from the tap in the US depends on where you live. I would never drink the water from our tap because it tastes pretty nasty with all the chemicals they have to use on it, since the source is so far away. I have a portable water distiller, so that's the only way I can drink the tap water. However, New York has fabulous water (hence yummy pizza), so I'd drink that in a heartbeat!
Our tap water is pretty good. It's well water. Best water was Hawaiian water. No idea why, but there is very little need for bottled water when the tap water is that good.

Thats a interesting myth about Moctezuma's revenge..

funfact, you can get the "moctezuma's revenge" everywhere.
Its not the water per se.
But the viruses and bacteria you find it floating in the air as you visit.

Also, it depends the definition of "drinking water". In Mexico, drinking water is via bottle or via personal purifier. The tap water is drinkable but id say the majority of Mexicans never drink from the tap.
And I know the culture of US americans is to drink right straight from the tap (all my cousins that are USA born do that).

Most contamination.. like I said, is not from the water.
Let's just say that we have a completely different "zoo" floating around than the one in the US. and each one of us are immune to our own zoos.. so we switch places.. we will get tanked until our defences normalize themselves.
But yeah, the food culture isn't very strong in most latin america. If you eat in the street.. be ready to get infected if you dont select a clean stand.

My Mom's last trip with me to Mexico she went from Chicago Airport straight to the hospital with Montezuma's revenge. They gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving my 17th Birthday, as she was that ill. There were water cooler bottles in the hallway we drank from. One day towards the end of our trip we saw they mid-day refilling the water cooler bottles from the garden hose. We started brushing our teeth and rinsing with Coke. Doc's assumed that is where she picked up the ecoli given the pathogens found in the lab. I'm hard pressed to believe it is a myth.

My mom was the one I argued with constantly growing up, but now we get along just fine. My dad was always the more laid-back one, so we rarely ever fought. But like yours, they are both there for me whenever I need them. :inlove:

Yeah, we have good water here, fortunate. When we moved here the source was icky. It is a different source now, night and day. Now what is in the Disney Parks I can't stomach yet the resorts water is very different. My thought has always been the resorts have very good water filters and softeners.

As of this Saturday, I'll have been to 3/4 South Florida sports teams' opening days in 2015 and all four later this month. I saw the Marlins lose to the Braves in March and the Dolphins get blown out by the Bills two weeks ago. On Saturday the Panthers are playing the Flyers and the Heat will play the Hornets in a few weeks. Hopefully we'll win those two!

My mom and I fought when I was in middle school. Now, my dad and I fight, and my mom and I barely fight. It's the lawyer and the lawyer's daughter. It's a really bad combination. :hilarious: Sometimes, I feel like I'm arguing with myself if I had the opposite opinion. My mom usually sits there, not making eye contact, like, "I have no opinion" until she's finally tired of hearing it and we both have to stop. If one of us is being unreasonable, then she will intervene, but usually she just sits there, shaking her head, and goes, "You two deserve each other."

She's also the parent who has a cool head. She definitely will stay calmer in a crisis than my father will. She says there are times that I would tell her something, and on the outside, she'd be like: :), but on the inside, she was like: :jawdrop::eek::banghead::bawling::in pain::arghh:. Sometimes, with something important, I'll tell Mom and figure Dad will find out about it eventually. Like when I was failing Statistics for a while, I told my mom. Dad found out after I pulled it up to a B. He's still a good Dad, though. When I had my old car, a light went on, and I wasn't sure what it was about, and I couldn't reach my mom, so I called my dad, and even though he was with a client, he stopped what he was doing, excused himself to the client, helped me out, and then while I was in class, got hold of my mom so she could rescue me.

Incidentally, I've had lots of car troubles since I started driving. My brother asked me if I cried when I had the car trouble, and I told him, "At this point, it's par for the course, kid.":hilarious:

I dunno, POR and COR still tasted like chlorine for me. Which is funny as AKL didnt.

Just finished reading the first section of Night, which is about the Holocaust, for one of my classes.

I think I'll go back to reading about 16th century Spain now that I'm shaking and prepared for nightmares...

I know what you mean - I read "By Bread Alone" in college and it haunted me for weeks. I've also been to the Museum of Tolerance, which was even more chilling. Hence, I've never watched Schindler's List.

I had to read this book in high school, so I knew that it would haunt me. I think, though, it haunts me more now than it did back then. I think also because now I've seen movies about the Holocaust, so more of a mental picture there.

Do not watch "Boy in the Striped Pajamas". Just...don't. I still have not recovered.
