Dinner's on the stove, lazy mom's hot and sour soup (I hope it warms me up). Not much sleep tonight as we're chaperoning my ds's dance tonight, he's too little to have those! At least we get to hang out with his best bud's parents:joyfull: He gave us a set of rules starting with my dh and I can't dance and no direct eye contact with him or his friends. He said he doesn't want to be known as the geek who's parents show up for everything. I hate to tell him I for the most part it's the same parents that have been showing up since he started school. What ever happened to "mom can you please be with us for...... basically every trip and party":(:cautious:

I haven't named my car. But I get decent mileage. My car is wicked small compared to the behemoths on the road.

If anything....it's the little engine that could. aka...horrible on hills
know your feeling.. I'm riding my late dad's ford focus.. rancher styler.
very efficient.. but already started to fall apart with a lot of troubles (I bet most of you remember my rants about fixing it)

I've thought about that too. We lose our power often in the winter, if we have really bad storms. We lost our power one year for three days, during a blizzard. It got mighty cold in the house, we weren't allowed to have a real wood burning fireplace. Ours are gas with an electric starter. Doesn't do you any good in a power outage.
and you do not have those small gas firestarters? (aka gas lighters?)
also, no portable generators?

in other news.. just returned from visiting the doctor.

She suspects I have some strong bacteria between my stomatch and my intestines.. causing my severe acid reflux and burping (aggravated by the stress I have been suffering these last 3 weeks thanks to my work)
Will have to get some blood samples and other tests before she can nuke me with medicine and treatment.

Animals are known to see or sense spirits in a home.
This is a completely true story. I know, I've had a lot of experiences in my life, but it is what it is. When we bought our second home in Kansas City, it was used and unusual. For the first thing it had black wall paper in the bathroom. ( I forgot to say hubby put an offer on it before I had even seen it). It was very dark with dark paneling (popular) in the day. Heavy cornice boards and curtains. I never felt right , or happy in this home. We had our funny little doggie Freddy at this time. Every time, I would go to the basement, I felt uneasy. I did go into the home, took down the cornice boards, curtains, took out the dark brown carpet. It did lighten up the house. But, DD kept saying she saw a man ( she was 6 then), sitting in living room chair, at night. Of course I told her she was dreaming, or had a big imagination. Problem was I would hear footsteps coming down the hallway, late at night, around 3 A.M. Freddy would sit just inside the bedroom, with low menacing growl. It didn't happen every night, but enough to make everyone uneasy. To make a long story short, the owner of the house, had died in it from cancer. That explained a lot to me. We moved after my neighbor's told us what had happened in that house. I was never so glad to leave in my life. Moral of the story...find out what happened before you occupy a used house. Or don't buy used. We bought another used home in Colorado, no ghosts, but crazy things built in that home. The one we have now, was new, and I told hubby when we move for the last time, it better be new. I'm not putting up with that kind of stuff anymore.

Am I the only person upset about the menu changes at Pecos Bill's? I was really looking forward to a veggie burger and fries there! Some of my other dining options look like they might also change Morimoto's looks good, I'm now thinking about going there on a day we're not going to a park. There's too many places we want to eat for the amount of time we have
I saw the menu, and I can't believe they ditched the burger. With the fixin's it was great. Wonder if they will --or maybe they already have changed it--at Cosmic Ray's. You could get a burger there, but not a kid's burger. And with the "Southwest" menu, could they have at least given me the taco salad option?

Me too, I love the Taco salad too. Hubby got the barbeque, and I got the salad, and shared. Now, I'm bummed!

Oh, my goodness, we had a gas fireplace, it became unusable as it didn't draw right and put gas right back in the house, resulting in migraine headaches for me. We put in an electric fireplace, and the starter is electric. We do need an inverter. We don't have a generator, as so many were stolen in our neighborhood. We do have a bunch of blankets and quilts. An alert weather radio that will use battery when the power goes down. I guess we will live like the Little House series. We are getting an outdoor fire pit this year. Stay warm by that during the day, and get under the covers with a hot brick!;)
