If I had money to waste I would do this. :)

Had the ligament repair surgery done today. Sugery went well. In six weeks, I should be playing piano again. Doctor said I might pick up my violin again too.

For now though, my hand is killing me, and my stomach isn't happy about the anestesia.

I'm glad your surgery went well. I hope the recovery goes well, and you can use the hand normally again soon!

But you got home safely, so that's good! :)

Thank you. Yah, luckily the trains were on time. I didn't want to chance taking a highway bus, or a local bus at all today, due to the conditions of the roads and the insane, backed-up traffic. Hubby drove me to the train station this morning and picked me up at the train station, this evening. :)

(A truck driver of a tandem, tipped over this morning on the highway, prior to 6 a.m., in a torrential downpour, blocking a few lanes. Rescue crews worked for 2 hours to free the driver from the wreck; he was pronounced DOA when he arrived at the hospital; he was 52 years old. Tragic :(. That's how bad the roads were flooding, causing hydroplaning and multiple accidents all over this morning, and some later on today as well.)

Yes, hydroplaning is very scary.

This is why you drive slow. Though driving in the pouring rain with floods before the sun comes up is scary. Hence why it took me 15 more minutes to get to work.

Tomorrow, you may feel a lot better. Post-op is a drag, no matter what the procedure. A good night's sleep tonight should be beneficial.

I was thinking about you today, wondering about your hand. Didn't have a clue that today was your surgery. Do you think I'm psychic? (I could be psychotic as well . . . :hilarious: ) I had debated whether to ask you about your hand this morning, but I knew you were bored with people asking the same questions, so I held off. But, I truly was thinking about you this morning, and I'm glad that you had the surgery done. Hopefully, you'll be as fit as a fiddle (or violin . .. ) once your recovery period is over.
Thanks Minnie. I don't mind the question so long as it isn't the first thing out of people's mouths when they talk to me. It is funny that it came to your mind this morning. :)

I hope you're right that tomorrow will be better. Today, it's really swollen and painful, and I'm not allowed to take the dressing off, so it feels tight, although my doctor said that is normal. I'm on prescription painkillers, but cannot wait to start taking Advil again. Weird feeling. My thumb goes to sleep, I can sometimes feel where the incision is, just weird. Which they told me is normal.

I don't have anything against fans of Harry Potter, but, seriously, doesn't there come a time when childhood obsessions are grown out of?
I vehemently disagree! Two words--Star Wars! Look how the world is awaiting the new movie with growing fervor. Why? For MANY of us it was our childhood obsession and almost FORTY years later MANY of us haven't outgrown that childhood obsession. Hell, I refuse to! I hold a special place for it in my heart and if someone thinks that's unhealthy, well, I feel sorry for them. Some may argue an obsession with Mickey is unhealthy. As our children grew up with HP in the last decade and having those books/movies as their obsession, years from now MANY will still love HP as much as they did as children.

I don't understand your biased comment about those "wizard" people? You make it sound like it'll turn into some freakish event. (BIG eyeroll) What's the difference if it were an adult event for Disney fanatics? Absolutely nothing except one group would be wearing wizards robes and the other group would have their Mickey ears on.

Thanks! It's DD's favorite...for her birthday parties, we usually let the kids decorate their own cupcakes instead of doing one big cake, but I have to have a piping bag of frosting on hand to make the roses for the girls, because they ALL want a rose.
Have you ever piped green icing on sugar cones to make Christmas trees? We then use red hots, sprinkles, etc., as the decorations.

I know that what I said sounded rather insulting, but, like everyone else I have opinions about what adults should or shouldn't be obsessed with. I am involved and love Disney, but, my obsession with it ends there. I would no more spend huge amounts of money to feed that obsession then I would take a gun and shoot myself in the foot. Even if I had hoards of money to spend.

I do Disney, but, I do it as inexpensively as possible. To me for someone to spend that much money to make believe that they are part of a Harry Potter experience is not overly grounded. Liking an IP is completely different in my mind. Heck, my son in law was heavy into "Dungeons and Dragons" for a number of years. Duct Tape and cardboard swords and all. I just, personally cannot wrap my brain around it. That said, however, I have never gotten into fiction in the sense of Star Wars or Potter. It leaves me flat so therefore it is even more difficult for me to comprehend spending that kind of money to be part of it.

I threw that last sentence in because I know that it exists because of my Disney semi-obsession. When I have to defend my enjoying it to just about everyone I meet, it tells me that what I am experiencing in the form of connections is not shared by very many others. Even my children will do a "gigantic eye roll" when I say I'm going to Disney again. I simply say, your right, it's not very mature, I guess I should take up heavy drinking instead. That usually ends the eye rolling.

As usual, on these boards, I am expressing my opinion. It may sound judgmental, in that I give a hoot what other people do, but, I can assure you that I don't. I also wouldn't spend three seconds in a line to meet and greet a college student in a costume and foam head. I just cannot... call it crazy, but, it is not what I would ever want to do. I don't have a reason why other then I just don't want to and that I, personally, would feel beyond foolish doing it. We are all different and I would hope that I could express things like I did because that is how I feel about those things on a personal level. I have never lost a moment of sleep worrying about what others do. BTW, I wouldn't go to a Disney Adult Fanatic situation either, so I guess that at least I am consistent.
