It is ridiculously expensive. It is OK if the person living there is going to take full advanage of all the facilities and offerings. They have many social things, trips, a small branch of a bank, salon, swimming pool, private bus transportation all around the area and to churches. My MIL uses nothing and doesn't eat half of her meal a days. It is a waste. They should have hired the live in for half the cost and she could have stayed in her luxury condo that was paid for. Her buy in was $125,000.00 plus $3800 per month.

Just got off the phone with my neighbor, and it gets better. He kept asking her well which tree is it, and she kept telling him it is next door. The way she described it, he literally was standing with his back to the tree we want down, and couldn't figure out why we told him ash tree, when he was looking at a maple. He got very frustrated with her, started banging his clipboard, and finally left. I think he is now out of the running.

What a comedy of errors.

Well, upon further examination, a stint has now turned into a quadruple bypass for my pop. Major blockage.
Surgery is scheduled for 7:30a tomorrow morning.
Thanks in advance for all the prayers and pixie dust y'all can spare please, gang...

Oh Dear. :( Sending you guys all the prayers, pixie dust and good karma your way. eek.

But if you need a good karma story if you remember back, my Dad had a heart attack, flat lined multiple times in route to the hospital and in the bay at the hospital ER and again in the ER. They finally brought him back, stablized his blood pressure and waited 'till the next morning to do the quad bypass and he came through with flying colors. You're Pop is about the same age but at least not coming to surgery after heart attacks and flat lining multiple times so he has that going for him too. I'm so impressed with how artistic these docs are these days recreating hearts. My Dad actually had more issues with the vein plucking in his legs than the heart surgery though if you remember is was very very very nasty for a few months after. Every surgery and the anesthesia and narcotics mess with his mind. Praying Pop comes through with flying colors. I have everything crossed. :inlove:

I did. That was the original plan, but hubs and I decided to put that off until the next trip. The kids are still a bit too young to enjoy most of Universal and my DD especially doesn't do well with scary things, so they have only seen the first 3 movies. I don't want them spoilered. So we figure if we wait for a few years, they will enjoy it a whole lot more and then we can justify the expense. We'd have to get the 2 park tickets which are $150 each for one day. So we're going to wait and do it in about 5 years.

Yep, that was the same reason why we skipped Universal in July - simply could not justify that cost for one day!

I think the food booths are good for when you have always wanted to try something but didn't want to buy a meal of it in case it's gross. ;)

Back at the Flower & Garden Festival in May, it was hot and I didn't want a full dinner someplace. So I stopped by the food booth outside the China pavilion. Had a few spring rolls in some luscious sauce; I don't know what was in the sauce, but it was awesome. It was probably the tastiest food I had on my entire vacation. I like the "small bites" formula for many reasons, some of which you also stated above. :hungry:

My boys already have Thanksgiving planned! I'm doing most of the cooking and we're having an early dinner as they like to go out Black Friday shopping. None of us really has much more to buy this year, but I usually get a good deal on sweaters at Penny and my youngest has to get something nice for his bestest buddy. I have no idea how going out that night ever turned into a tradition for them:hilarious:

Oh dear . . . September is not even over yet. Can we at least have Halloween first? :jawdrop: At least I'm not under pressure to go out and spend money I don't have. Halloween is just candy for the treaters who come to the door (and I've been known to eat some, myself! ;) )

Growing up we always had a side of beef and half a hog in the freezer to get through winter. To this day I do the same thing. I have a dry erase board that I keep an inventory on.

Hee, hee . . we have exactly one loaf of bread in the freezer! Because hubby knows I'm not big on stocking up on anything, he knows there's always plenty of empty space in the freezer. One time he ran out of space in his workroom in the basement, so he threw a pan of nails in the freezer, because there was no place else downstairs for him to put them! :hilarious: (He has since rearranged his work area and found a spot downstairs for them.)

My mom is too close to the city and I'm not fond of the neighborhood!!!!!!! She's like my grandmother in that respect we couldn't get her out of Queens as she had a rent controlled apartment. My mom is the same way!:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Rent-controlled apartments in any city are a major reason to not move. A number of people are grandfathered in to those, and never want to give them up.

sadly.. my cousin had to move from his apartment.
The damage was more extensive than first reviewed.
almost all the ceiling was blown. It was a miracle that the entire ceiling didn't blow away.. the wood beams were still there and barely holding the drywall(sheetrock).

Sorry to hear about your cousin, although we can give thanks that he is o.k. Still, it is sad that he has to move, and moving is always expensive as well.
