Yes, thank you, that would be great to have the recipe you like. At some point this fall, I'll make a pie, and I'll let you know how it comes out. (But, you might just want to post it here, because we have a number of chefs in Chit Chat that would probably also want to see this.) :)
Like me! Although, I am still afraid that I will put a lot of work into it, it won't turn out, and I will be wishing I just picked up the premade stuff.

I'm squeeing because we just booked our Disney trip. 10 days at CBR with the Dining plan, free memory maker, free $100 gift card, 14 day tickets for the price of 7, and we'll stay for a couple of extra nights with my friend in Kissimmee and since we have 14 day tickets, we can go to the parks for those days, too, so we basically have 2 weeks at Disney. I am sooooo EXCITED. It seems so much more real now that I have it booked, with a confirmation number.

So excited for you!! Your kids are gonna flip when they find out! :joyfull:

Yesterday's concert was pretty good, considering they have only been rehearsing sporadically for 3 weeks. I love the idea of the concert. Top choir, top symphony, top band, and some chamber groups in one evening. But it is too early in the year. DS of course was very hard on himself, and when I said it was ok, he said no it wasn't. Oh well.

Alright, well time to get on with the day! Happy fall!

Years ago I worked for a hotel company, and they had a hotel in Bermuda. I recall some insane prices on some very common items in the stores down there. For example, a bag of potato chips was around $3.75, and that was many years ago! The reason was probably the same as on your island--absolutely everything had to be either flown in or shipped in. It must be expensive to live on an island. ;)

That's definitely true for Hawaii. Food is crazy expensive there! :greedy:

We learned on our shore excursion to Aruba that only two things are made on the island--beer and bottled water. Everything else is shipped in.

I know!! I can't wait to see their faces. Talk about an epic Christmas present! I hope they are better at figuring it out this time. 2 years ago we bought them a trampoline for Christmas and made a little foam model of a trampoline and gave it to them as a hint. They could not figure out what it was, even with the Playmobile people in it.

What kind of a concert was it? Was it an honor music festival like All-state or something?

It is done through the music dept. at his high school. This is the second year, and the other band directors in the area think our school is crazy for doing it so soon in the school year. The idea is to inspire the underclassmen to stick with music. And as I see that most of the audience is parents and grandparents, I'm not sure that they are achieving that goal.

Well, if the kids don't feel good about their performance, it's not particularly motivating. Sad. Were most of the kids happy with their performances? What does your DS do? Choir, band, orchestra?

I don't remember exactly when this happened, but somewhere in my childhood, I recall my father ranting that gas had just gone up to around 74 cents a gallon. He said something to the effect of, "What's going on in this world, and what's next?!" :p
It started in the mid 70s. Around the time of the embargo. It seems funny now to think about it, but, when the price went up to 50 cents per gallon, it in affect had almost doubled the price. At the time it was a real burden financially. I can remember shuffling other bills to pay the gas credit card off. For gas cards there was no choice. Pay it off monthly or lose it. By the time it hit nearly $4.00 per gallon I was retired and thankfully not driving nearly as much as I did when I was commuting to work.
