Thanks, I will! You know, the first guy I called for an estimate told me he would be here later, just called (1 week later) to see if I was still interested in an estimate.o_O

I had that same issue with the tree trimmers too not showing up or worse not even returning calls. After a few this dude came in way under most and wrote the price down and provided his insurance info with the quote. My DH wanted more estimates. Oy. I handed him the phone book opened to the Tree Guys and told him to have at it.....didn't take him long to drop that request. With all the Ash trees dead around Northern IL and the storm down trees these guys have so much work, they can pick and choose.

I had plants under my giant Christmas Tree that were perennials. To my surprise he had his guys dig them up and not only move them but they dug holes and replanted them for me elsewhere.

And how many should be!

These dudes in our state have a slow learning curve. 3 governors in the Fed Pen in short order and a State Representative and then add in the more local urban leaders. Each one thinking they were craftier than the ones that were eventually caught. I see dumb people. Now if that is them or us for electing them.

and then get reelected again

Yes, the last two were both voted into office a few times. The last governor was a very nice man that had the spirit of service one should, he had been the Lt. Governor until the sitting Governor went to the Pen. Sadly he didn't re-elected and now we have a Governor that is trying to right the ship but unfortunately this very wealthy man in his own right wants to do this by bringing harm to education and social services that are utilized by the most needy. I paid dearly for daycare but taking away daycare from the very poor either leaves children home alone or the parents unable to work and that is just one of the 1000's of cuts. Makes me sad.

iPhone craziness. Pay attention @donaldtoo Reconsider upgrading the software at the moment.

It all started with an issue with connectivity to charge after ruling out cords and plug. It was draining battery connecting and disconnecting.
So we knew Apples stand-bye was you need to upgrade software. Backed up phone barely accomplished that with the phones connectivity issues but it did, I worried more about my photos than anything. Phone froze on Saturday with Apple Logo and load bar. Several hours on tech support online Chat ending with first appointment 'till Tuesday. Purchased a burner phone on Sunday. Good thing. They gave me a new phone on Tuesday, that evening went to pull all the contacts, texts etc off the laptop backed up. And the freak'n thing again froze the same way as it did Saturday night. 3 hours tech online and offered only an appointment, first available Sunday the 27th.

Walked into Apple near opening this morning without required appointment. A nice young woman had pity upon me. She took the phone and went and looked at it after she listened to my tale of woe. She sent us away while she wiped the phone and restored it and upgrded it but also saying after 2 tries to restore from backup they quit that and won't try anymore and neither should we. At this point I want my phone and am so tired of dealing with this for hours on end multiple days and especially Apples canned online responses like I know how you feel, I too know how difficult it is to live without my phone....and similar bonding attempts. One supervisor actually typed if he could get on an airplane and bring a big bag of iPhones to my home until he found one that worked he would do that for me but he couldn't. Seriously how condescending.

So I went back 20 minutes later and the nice woman handed me my new phone of yesterday and told me not to try to load the back up to the phone to restore the data. She went on to say maybe, maybe in a month or so all the problems they are having will be fixed and it might work then. Just wish they leveled and were honest like that days ago and I wouldn't have kept trying and freezing.

So now I am trying to relocate all my contacts. And this cured me of thinking about upgrading this laptop to Windows 10.

Maybe your backup is severely corrupted that it damages the new phones when you try to load them?
worse, you might have one of these malware that have been populating IOS lately.

I forgot to mention @MinnieM123. My father had taken a trip back in the day to Bermuda and I remember him saying they had decided to go to Burger King for a quick snack while sightseeing and they were out of chicken because their delivery ship was delayed a day due to bad weather.
I remember coming back from a winter trip to Disney and going to the grocery for bread and staples. It seems there was a prediction of a big snow coming, and trucks couldn't get over the mountains; due to the snow. To make a long story short there was nothing, not even canned goods in a big store, we went to another ditto. We now keep our pantry stocked during the winter!

One Million Moms apparently thinks the new Muppets is too risque. I don't remember the Muppets during the 80s but where were they then?

You can't please everyone. Get over it.
Can't say I'm a fan of these parent groups that try to regulate the media. I like Common sense Media (commonsensemedia.org). They tend to be balanced and give a general recommendation, but they ultimately leave it up to parents to decide (which is the way it should be). I still use them because while I occasionally watch r-rated movies, but don't like anything too risque or too violent (just personal reasons), so I use them to figure out why a movie is rated R (I don't mind a brief scene that I can skip or a few uses of the F bomb if it's otherwise a movie I'll enjoy).

FYI, Common Sense Media rated the new Muppets series 10+. It's on ABC, though, so it's mostly targeted at adults. Parents need to realize that.

It started in the mid 70s. Around the time of the embargo. It seems funny now to think about it, but, when the price went up to 50 cents per gallon, it in affect had almost doubled the price. At the time it was a real burden financially. I can remember shuffling other bills to pay the gas credit card off. For gas cards there was no choice. Pay it off monthly or lose it. By the time it hit nearly $4.00 per gallon I was retired and thankfully not driving nearly as much as I did when I was commuting to work.
I remember being in a friends car, and the station ran out of gas. Let's just say she wasn't pleased....she knocked over everything in sight. And drove off with me in the car. So embarrassing ! :jawdrop:
