Dang i wish i could get fuel that cheap.One of the supermarket forecourts ran a promotion a few weekends ago where it was 99p a Litre.Doing the math with the exchange rate and converting it up to price per gallon it comes to approx
$5.77 a gallon :eek::jawdrop::cry:

Years ago I worked for a hotel company, and they had a hotel in Bermuda. I recall some insane prices on some very common items in the stores down there. For example, a bag of potato chips was around $3.75, and that was many years ago! The reason was probably the same as on your island--absolutely everything had to be either flown in or shipped in. It must be expensive to live on an island. ;)

Happy Equinox! Yesterday's cleaning project turned into today's painting project. At least my dining room will look nice for the holidays and seeing I'm doing Thanksgiving and Christmas this year it's a good idea to get it done now. I think all the prep work is done but I'll give everything a good look before I start painting. Sorry I may not be on the rest of the day, it's looking like coffee and ketchup tomorrow morning.

Wait a minute. :confused: You told us the day before that you were doing some deep cleaning. Now you've changed your story to painting. The plot thickens . . . :cautious:

Don't i know it.Our housing prices made big news earlier in the year as they fell for the first time in over 10 years down to an average (local market) house price of £415,000 ( $639,000).A one bedroom flat that needed full restoration recently went for over £120k.It is close (posibly more so) as expensive to live locally as it is to live in London.:(

Given the choice of the two locations, I'd still pick the island. I love tranquility. London looks dynamic and all, but I prefer a quieter place to live.

(I wonder if the Queen has any regrets that you're not her next door neighbor, though? o_O :p )

We had that issue, we took out two three story Christmas Trees that were at least 75-100 years old. Then took out a major branch of the Lotus. I believe all of them and stump was $1100. They came ontime for estimate, day late for removal because of rain. Try
US Tree
Thanks for the information, @Gabe1. We are going to be overcharged for just one tree. I hope we have a US Tree in our area.

It's been a number of years for me, too, since my last stay at the Hilton DTD. I've stayed there twice years ago, and it was a very nice hotel, and just a walk across the street to Disney Springs (I still have difficulty calling it that now!). I'm a fan of the Hilton hotels. Now, just to make my life easier getting around, (I refuse to rent/drive a car down there anymore) I stay on property.

Just one little tip--always pull your hotel door room tightly shut (this goes for everyone, no matter where they are staying), and use the throw bolt lock. Sometimes with the heavy guest room doors, people think their door is fully closed because they hear a thud once the door hits the frame. But it's important to pull IN the door to you. I'm only bringing this up because a guest didn't realize his door wasn't fully shut, and housekeeping walked in and scared the heck out of him! They did knock first, but he was in the shower and didn't hear the knock! :eek:

Also, avoid any flyers that get slipped under your door--especially for the pizza delivery places; many of them don't even exist, and they ask people to order pizza with their credit card number over the phone (no pizza delivered, and your card information has just been stolen). If you ever want to order in a pizza, ask the hotel's guest services' desk for a legitimate reference.
Thank you @Minnie123. I'll tell hubby as he usually closes up the room! Good tip about pizza too. :)

Pie crust making is a killer to me. It's really hard to make from scratch. I've chilled the dough and even that doesn't help much. I put in enough water to just hold together the dough, but it still falls apart before I can roll it out very much. If it add too much water, the cooked consistency is weird and not flaky. Some people just always make great pie crusts (apparently you're one of them), but I've failed. :(
Don't feel bad, after all these years, I can't make a decent pie crust. Getting one at the store is so much less hassle.
