Ok, so when we originally planned our Disney trip, we planned 5 days and so that's what the kids know about. That was before I read on the Disneytouristblog and mousesavers that international guests get better deals and I went searching. So the kids know nothing about our 10 days in the resort or the 14 day tickets. We'd like to surprise them with that at Christmas. Anyone have any creative ideas for how to pop the news? I've thought of maybe doing a sort of scavenger hunt where each clue gives them a word or something. Or just printing off something that looks like a ticket that says 10 days and putting it in an envelope. But I want it to be pretty big and fun and more than just telling them "Oh, by the way, we're staying for 10 days instead of 5."

I love the scavenger hunt idea! Maybe do an advent type calendar with a little gift or clue.

I'm squeeing because we just booked our Disney trip. 10 days at CBR with the Dining plan, free memory maker, free $100 gift card, 14 day tickets for the price of 7, and we'll stay for a couple of extra nights with my friend in Kissimmee and since we have 14 day tickets, we can go to the parks for those days, too, so we basically have 2 weeks at Disney. I am sooooo EXCITED. It seems so much more real now that I have it booked, with a confirmation number.

Sounds fantastic, you'll have to share pics with us.

I don't remember exactly when this happened, but somewhere in my childhood, I recall my father ranting that gas had just gone up to around 74 cents a gallon. He said something to the effect of, "What's going on in this world, and what's next?!" :p
I remember gas prices at 29 cents a gallon, and could get free glass ware, or green or yellow stamps. But, the parents didn't make much in those days. It pretty much evens out.

Years ago I worked for a hotel company, and they had a hotel in Bermuda. I recall some insane prices on some very common items in the stores down there. For example, a bag of potato chips was around $3.75, and that was many years ago! The reason was probably the same as on your island--absolutely everything had to be either flown in or shipped in. It must be expensive to live on an island. ;)
It's the same with the mountains, most of our stuff is brought in by truck. In the winter that can get dicey!

We had that issue, we took out two three story Christmas Trees that were at least 75-100 years old. Then took out a major branch of the Lotus. I believe all of them and stump was $1100. They came ontime for estimate, day late for removal because of rain. Try

Thanks, I will! You know, the first guy I called for an estimate told me he would be here later, just called (1 week later) to see if I was still interested in an estimate.o_O

I'm sure there's cheaper gas in the country but I got gas for $2.05 today. A price not seen in a while.

Doubt we'll see that here. I saw a low of $2.22 at one station today, but this is a large metropolitan area, so the owners of the station are paying higher taxes, etc., which of course gets passed down to us.

Where I work gas is $2.45 (well the only gas station I go by right after the bridge). I don't understand how it's so much more expensive. The "city" is only 25,000 people. Probably because of the tourists.

Muppet's time!

$1.85 here and I'm loving it. Of course it would be nice to keep going down.
You guys are killing me! I had to look it up on Gas Buddy. Cheapest I saw out here was $2.59, ranging to $3.09.

I paid $2.60 Saturday today I saw $2.53 a gallon. Sure goes up faster than it comes down, all while the reserves are at an all time high in the US.
I know! That's crazy! On a side note, the Weather Channel has predicted a warmer than usual winter for our area of the midwest. :) And @MinnieM123 they predicted winter temps way below average for the northeast. You can both join me in the happy dance!

Happy Equinox! Yesterday's cleaning project turned into today's painting project. At least my dining room will look nice for the holidays and seeing I'm doing Thanksgiving and Christmas this year it's a good idea to get it done now. I think all the prep work is done but I'll give everything a good look before I start painting. Sorry I may not be on the rest of the day, it's looking like coffee and ketchup tomorrow morning.
Happy painting! Going with a whole new color and look? Or just freshening?

May I have the recipe, please?

Yes, thank you, that would be great to have the recipe you like. At some point this fall, I'll make a pie, and I'll let you know how it comes out. (But, you might just want to post it here, because we have a number of chefs in Chit Chat that would probably also want to see this.) :)

I'll post the recipe tonight! :cat:
