Happy Equinox! Yesterday's cleaning project turned into today's painting project. At least my dining room will look nice for the holidays and seeing I'm doing Thanksgiving and Christmas this year it's a good idea to get it done now. I think all the prep work is done but I'll give everything a good look before I start painting. Sorry I may not be on the rest of the day, it's looking like coffee and ketchup tomorrow morning.

I'm squeeing because we just booked our Disney trip. 10 days at CBR with the Dining plan, free memory maker, free $100 gift card, 14 day tickets for the price of 7, and we'll stay for a couple of extra nights with my friend in Kissimmee and since we have 14 day tickets, we can go to the parks for those days, too, so we basically have 2 weeks at Disney. I am sooooo EXCITED. It seems so much more real now that I have it booked, with a confirmation number.

According to the cookbook I use, the key to a good pie crust is the fat used. Butter makes it flavorful and easy to handle, while vegetable shortening or margarine makes a flaky crust. So if you want both, you can combine fats. I usually like to use all butter, though. If you want the recipe, I can PM it to you.

Yes, thank you, that would be great to have the recipe you like. At some point this fall, I'll make a pie, and I'll let you know how it comes out. (But, you might just want to post it here, because we have a number of chefs in Chit Chat that would probably also want to see this.) :)

So, to wrap up our NOLA trip report...

We had a 2-room suite. We let DDs have the nicer one. DS slept on an air mattress on the floor in our room. The place was nice. :)
I took these pics just before we left, so the rooms weren't in the best shape. And, again, please excuse the photo quality of some/all of these pics.

Mine, DWifey, and DSs room...

The hotel used to be a bank.
The old bank vault, the elevator lobby, the restaurant, and the front desk and doors out to the valet parking...

While we were waitng for our car (y'all know the story :bored: ;)), a Saints game day parade, and some Saints fans throwing beads off a bus (at least we had a bit of entertainment while we waited :))...

And, finally, riding (I wasn't driving ;)) off into the sunset back to Austin...

Thanks again for indulging me, gang!
It was such a great trip...! :)
More great family memories to last a lifetime...!!!

Dang, you sure as heck know how to have a GOOD TIME!!! :joyfull: Love all the piccies!!! The hotel was unique, being converted from a previous bank. That is so cool. (If it were me, I'd be looking around in corners, closets, etc. to see if there might be some "lost" money from the old bank floating around! :p )

The floors in that lobby were exquisite. I love those artistic tile floors from older, elegant buildings.

Incidentally, I was in an old rehabbed bank building, years ago in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA. (Not a tall building like the one you were in--maybe just 1-2 floors.) Anyway, it was turned into an ice cream parlor!!! :hungry: My favorite place to eat ice cream was at the little bistro tables inside the bank vault!!!! :joyfull: :joyfull: :joyfull: (Note: they kept the door open to the vault at all times . . .. ;) )

Last Saturday I paid $1.98. I can't remember when the last time it was that cheap. Actually, I remember that when I went to WDW in 1983 the price was .99 per gallon. I thought that was terribly expensive.

I don't remember exactly when this happened, but somewhere in my childhood, I recall my father ranting that gas had just gone up to around 74 cents a gallon. He said something to the effect of, "What's going on in this world, and what's next?!" :p
