Today was a great day. I took my kids to school at the University of New Mexico. My daughter had her yoga/plates class and my son had Marimba class.
We then got Vietnamese take out and watched Big Brother episodes we taped.
We went to mass then we went to the mall and I got lots of yummy scents from Bath and Body Works.
We looked at the dogs and cats in the Animal Shelter satellite store. Sad, please spay/neuter your animals.
We ended with takeout pizza and tv. Yup a good day.

Not really. She's doing a lot of complaining. She followed me into the bathroom when I went to take a bath, and she wouldn't let me keep the doot to the shower closed, it had to be open, and I had to be where she could see me. Otherwise, she would meow even louder than she already was. Then, she went from basically yelling at me, to complaining at a more normal volume, to then kind of squeaking a meow and purring at the same time. I wasn't even petting her and she was purring. Not sure what that was all about.

I kind of answered her meows, but then at one point, I started meowing back at her. She wasn't sure how to respond to that.

She'll probably come cuddle and want to sleep on top of me in a bit, but she had to first emphasize how very displeased she was at my leaving her.

I'm so sorry you have to worry about this issue. It's so hard when parents get older. My first stroke happened in my mid 50s without warning. I lost my hearing in my left ear. High blood pressure was the cause. I'm on blood pressure meds, so all is good. My Doctor keeps track of me every 6 month's. I hope your dad is going to the Doctor at least every 6 month's or more. I hope he is on blood pressure meds. I will pray for him. If appropriate for you.
Thank you! I would appreciate that. Yes, he's been on blood thinners for YEARS, which makes it a bit more scary because then there's not much more they can do to prevent another stroke other than adjust the amount of blood thinners he's already on. He's also been on something for his cholesterol. He goes to the doctor regularly and gives me updates about how they went. I mostly worry about him driving and having another one. Technically, his doctor told him he shouldn't be driving. But because he lives alone out in the boondocks, he allowed him to keep his license with the understanding that he would only drive if it was absolutely necessary. But what the doctor views as absolutely necessary and what an 82 year old rancher views as absolutely necessary are two different things. I'll give him credit though. When I reamed him up one side and down the other about not driving, I gave him several alternatives for getting groceries (he has some great neighbors only a mile or so away, as well as friends and family who live in town and come to check on him periodically or will let him stay with them sometimes) and he does actually utilize them much more than I ever expected, so he is taking it seriously now, if for no other reason than to humor me.

It was so tough. Sis wanted to sue for malpractice. But I knew Mom wasn't up for that. So she dropped the subject. I'm so glad for Mom, as it was enough to lose her husband of over 50 years.
Sympathy like. I can't imagine how you all must have felt. I lost my mom to breast cancer and they did everything they could and it was still hard to lose her. It must be so much harder when they made a mistake that contributed to his death. But suing the doctors wouldn't bring him back and I'm sure the doctors were already upset by what happened. Such a tough situation all around.

That poppy seed bread sounds great, I've always had it with lemon or almond flavoring but orange would be good too.
My mom's had a glaze you put on after you took it out of the oven...with orange juice and sugar and almond, vanilla, and butter extracts. And that glaze soaks in and just...it makes all the difference. I can post that recipe, too. I won't even triple the leavening agent. ;)
Edited to add proper punctuation. Appalling that I didn't check before posting!!

Today, hubby and I drove up to Maine to go see an intertribal pow wow of some Maine tribes and some Canadian tribes. We had a great time watching the dancers, drummers and singers. I loved watching a "fancy dancer" Native American; his regalia was spectacular. Hubby got a few pix of him with his phone camera. The vendors were also very nice and I bought a pretty red leather necklace with a silver attachment. All the jewelry was handmade and was reasonably priced as well. It was a really nice atmosphere of people.

After the pow wow, we went to a country farm stand nearby, and I bought a bunch of fresh veggies and some blueberry flavored milk! YUM!! :hungry:
I'm glad you had such a lovely day, aren't farm stands the best.?
