Summed that up nicely.

I always boil mine first, then Hubby finishes them off on the barbecue. So I did something idiotic today. I bought a package of spare ribs, and a bottle of barbecue sauce, and I figured I'd be able to put them on the barbecue grill (I have charcoal) and cook them for dinner. A little while ago, I thought I should look up on the internet about how long to cook them, as I've never cooked spare ribs before. Well . . . I've never seen so much confusing cooking information about anything before. Some recipes say to boil them at first; others say not to. Some tell you to slow cook them for 6 hours (too late to do that for dinner tonight), some say to cook them in the oven for a while before, and then grill them. Some say just to cook and/or broil them in the oven.
Hence, I need to figure out something tomorrow from all these convoluted directions, when I have more time. I just told hubby we're having grilled cheese sandwiches, and tomato soup for dinner. He said, "What??!!
I thought you told me that we were going to have delicious, barbecued spare ribs??!! "
(He was right; I did say that . . .). "Um . . . slight change in plans . . . "

That seems to be the accepted way and they usually always come out good. I don't do them myself because we are not allowed grills here in the deluxe apartments in the sky. My son-in-law makes some great ribs though. If I had known that when they were first engaged, I would have been less skeptical about the man.I always boil mine first, then Hubby finishes them off on the barbecue.
Fall off the bone tender, and guaranteed to be cooked all the way through. Win, win.
All AWESOME pics again, @betty rose!!!
Thanks for sharing...!
ETA: The Jungle cruise "back side of water" pic reminds me of a pool for a home design I worked on this week.
It will have an upper pool with a water slide from it to a lower pool. The upper pool will have a waterfall into the lower pool with a grotto behind the waterfall. Their own personal back side of water..!!!![]()

Sorry to jump in but needing help and looking for opinions.
We've had a Sam's Club membership for 10 years. It just expired and a Costco opened today in our town. I checked it out - still torn. Anyone out there who has done both, can you give opinion on which you prefer and why? Costco has better quality (it seems) but not as much quantity for the price of Sam's (so far as I see)... Thoughts?
*Quietly waiting for the new "Puffed French Toast" thread to be taken off into psychoville. Or, abandoned. One of the two...*
If you dog could talk, he'd tell you that all he cares about is that you're his buddy. He doesn't care about the weather as long as you're there with him.
I had both memberships for a while. I now only have only Sam's. I liked Costco's fresh produce better, they take better care of it and their prepared meals are better. Sam's is closer to us but Costco isn't exactly a haul so that played into it a little. What it came down to is the items I continuously buy are a bit cheaper at Sams an they seem to have more choices in the bulk items like chips, candy and snacks. Costco seems to have a more pleasant staff and more customer service oriented. Sam's I can go to and they have 3 people checking ya out and the line is 10 deep.
I have a business membership so I can go in from 7-10 or have them pull everything I want and just pay for it, problem is I seem to never get there for business hours. So being happy enough with both I went with Sam's.
Yes, sir, you and I are both food connoisseurs !!![]()

We have both BJ's and Costco fairly close by. BJ's is less then a mile away. I like it better then Costco because not only are they competitive but they offer more variety. For example, Peanut Butter. They have Jif and Skippy and they are priced the same whereas Costco usually carry's only one brand, Plus, they also take coupons. Costco does not. They don't have hot dogs at the snack bar that are as good as Costco's though. Small sacrifices. There's is just a BJ's and Sam's in my area. The nearest Costco to me is 2 hours away I think but I've never been in one. Or seen one....except from the highway in DC.
My parent's had a Sam's membership but switched to BJ's when they could have a free one (I worked there) and still have one. Sam's is a dirty club version of WalMart. The store near me closed down without warning, knocked down and then rebuilt years later on the same spot. But hey, they're owned by WalMart, knocked off points right there.
It would great if they and supermarket could sell alcohol but they can't. Stupid state laws.
