Yeah, those are just the funny stories. We tell them and laugh about them because we're like "really? Did they think that was going to work?"

I've had instances of male attention that was most definitely unwanted, and those are not stories I tell and laugh about. I think that's true of every woman sadly.

But there are good men out there. The ones from the funny stories may have even turned out to eventually be good partners who just did some really dumb stuff before getting their footing. 🤣
I'm going to assume you were never in Speech and Debate in high school? Either that, or your speech and debate circuit was a LOT more tame than mine was!! We were WEIRDOS. E laughs at me all the time and tells me how strange we were when I tell stories about speech and debate. For instance, a guy I ended up being friends with later, my first encounter with him was at a speech and debate tournament when he came up and asked me if he could photocopy my face. Another friend, my first encounter with him was when he was asking everyone he saw if he could lick their eyeball....strangely, everyone declined. Some people are just very goofy. That's what I loved so much about speech and debate....everyone was just as wacky as I was. I could totally be myself without anyone thinking I was awful, and no one knew that I had a reputation for being a boring prude who did nothing but study. People thought I was fun! We had wacky philosophical discussions about absolutely ridiculous things.

Oh, not speech and debate, but for sure theater. And chorus. And we definitely had guys like that at school. Longtime bestie is married to one of them now, lol. (Yes, I actually met her husband before she did). And her husband is...still a loon, but I love him (like a brother), lol. One of my best guy friends in high school was most definitely that way. He did impressions of me, and I was like "what is wrong with you" while laughing. And he once told me my head was harder than a brick wall. Rude, however true...🤣

But they were trying to make friends, not trying to flirt, lol.

Yeah, I found that a lot of those extra-curriculars overlapped. Like, a lot of people in the speech and debate circuit were also music people, so I would see them at All-State, or Solo-Ensemble festival, or Honor choir. And I'd see a lot of them at Student Council convention, too. So I saw a lot of them often, but most of those things were only once a year, whereas the speech and debate tournaments were every couple of weeks throughout the school year. I had a LOT of friends from other schools...way more than I had in my own school. And it was nice, because I spent a lot of weekends with my friends that way, and if I had been at home, I would have been stuck at home doing homework, because I wasn't allowed to date, I wasn't allowed to go out with my friends unless all my homework was done, and I wasn't allowed to go out after dark, unless I was with my brother, or I was at a school activity like play practice or a ball game. So by being in speech and debate, I was at a school activity, I was hanging out with friends, after dark, and having way more fun than I would have had I been home. Speech and debate was pretty much my social life in high school. My classmates didn't want to hang out with me anyway, even if I had been allowed to go out. But the kids in speech and debate LIKED me, and we always had a ton of fun. It was a total lifeline for me. Very strange people, but I fit in there.

No idea if any of the guys were trying to flirt with me. Probably not. I wasn't known for being physically attractive. It was just fun to hang out. Also, a lot of guys in speech and debate who do IEs (more like acting than public speaking) tend to be gay, so they wouldn't have been flirting with me anyway. Not all of them, but definitely quite a few.

My graduating class was 492 kids, lol. Plenty of people at my own school; didn't need to look to the others. Hence why I also know so many people.

Did anyone else watch the Lilo and Stitch trailer yesterday? Wonder if they're changing the location from Kaua'i to Oahu. It took me less than 60 seconds to pick up that it was NOT Kaua'i, mostly because I've been to one of the beaches on the trailer and have a picture of it in with my wallpaper rotations.

Edit: specifically this one. 55 second mark on the trailer, same mountain.

Edit 2: my AI says it's Makapu'u Beach with Waimanalo in the background. Thanks AI because I couldn't remember the name...

It looks like the best live action remake yet imo.
