Every time tofu is mentioned I think about that episode of Everybody Loves Raymond.

I tried tofu once. It was one of the most disgusting things I've ever tasted. A couple years ago a very nice Chinese couple from church invited me to there house for dinner. They made several authentic Chinese dishes. Everything was very good except the tofu. It was really hard to eat all of it on my plate and act like I liked it. Somehow I managed to do it but I'm never trying tofu again.

If it was that bad, it very well could have been stinky tofu (which I've never had before, so I don't know whether I like it or not). "Regular" tofu is usually completely tasteless, until it takes on the flavor(s) of what it is cooked with/in. I love the different textures, too. :hungry: :)

I so agree. I love Disney. I'm not a stock holder, I just understand, that every one wants to do what they can, to make it through retirement or beyond. I wish I was more into the "market", my dad always said it was gambling. I couldn't go against my dad. However, wrong he was.

Actually, I agree with your pop. Whether your playing the market with straight-up stocks, or you have a 401K, Roth IRA, etc., it's ALL still a gamble. ;) :)

Heh, heh . . . I actually like tofu. One of the reasons is that it takes on the flavor of whatever is put with it. For example, you can have a very tasty tofu cheesecake, or you can have a flavorful teriyaki tofu & vegetables stir fry, and so on. It's actually bland just by itself. Oh, fried tofu isn't bad either. But I completely understand that tofu is not for everyone! :p

Hahaaa...!!!
I should have read ahead...! :hilarious: :)

Actually, I think it was back when I was a teenager, I did ask my father if we should get lightning rods for the house, and he said it wasn't necessary (we lived in surburbia with quite a few single-family houses on the street). At that time, he mentioned that you'd be more likely to find lightning rods out in the country areas on houses that weren't built so close together, like farmhouses out in big open areas.

So, back to last year for a moment, I'm not sure if MA just had a bout of really bad thunder/lightning storms over the course of a few months, and more houses were struck as a result of that. While we're on the topic of houses and lightning, I read that the newer lightning rods are often very discreet, even a foot or less in size on a roof--nothing like the old days.
That's called playing the odds. Yes, in rural areas where there is one house every mile or so, then that house will be the highest point and therefore more susceptible to a lightening strike. However, houses in suburban areas are also susceptible but, since lightening is random, it just has more to choose from so the odds are better that yours will not get hit. In my mind it is still a good idea to have them especially if you are in an area that tends to have a lot of storms.

Yes, I noticed the same thing and it is just wrong. It is brought on, however, because no one tells anyone about the difference. This is a day to remember those that gave up their lives for our freedom (misguided or not). Those of us still alive already got our day on Veterans Day. We, of course, use memorial day to remember people that we loved that have passed on. That is OK, that's what it is about.

My then career dropped Veterans Day as a Holiday when MLK Day came onboard. The firm that I worked for that year had MLK Day as a no work holiday but work was then required on Veterans Day. So few firms that we associated with were closed for MLK Day that it was a one year holiday but we were not given back Veterans Day.

Back in 2003 our teachers lobbied to have school on Veteran's Day and instead be given off the day before ThanksGiving. Teachers also receive 2 comp days in November for Parent Teacher Conferences at night earlier in November. That year teachers lobbied for Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving for their comp days so the schools are closed the entire week of ThanksGiving. So basically our school district opted for celebrating ThanksGiving longer over Veterans Day. I lost that battle plus I always had problems finding daycare for those 3 days prior to Thanksgiving. It use to be that everyone was pretty much off for Veterans Day.

This is funny, and I just had deja vu regarding a somewhat similar situation. This goes back years, and I'll never forget the (light-hearted) argument my parents had over my mother's glee at shopping a sale. Mom: "Everything was marked down and I saved all this money!" Dad: "But you spent money, so how did you save money if you spent money? That's just not logical." And so on . . . an endless circular argument between the two of them, about each one's specific definition of "saving" money! :hilarious: P.S.: I take after my mom!!! :D
he's sorta right, we do not "save" money per se. We Expend regardless of "discounts".
But we can find ways to expend LESS for THE SAME:P

Not wrong. I was nudging you into trying to appreciate SeaHawks photos for what they were. Quick photo's to keep us in the loop and not the quality photos you take with your professional equipment. Not likely she is in a position to fix the camera while on vacation. Admittedly We all have those petty things that tend to bug us on the forums. Some are grammar police, others point out spelling errors and we seem to have multiple folks who cringe over others photos. We all have our quirks.
but this again wasn't a complain about his photos.
his camera/phone might die. Just wanting to give him a headsup.
Noone wants to lose the "special moment" when their equipment dies.
And I'm pretty sure there are places to purchase a cheap camera at WDW.

nothing to do with "quality" or criticism regarding the subject.
