@donaldtoo -- glad to see you on the forum today, as I had seen some very bad weather reports for your area down in Texas. Good that you still have your power.

Thanks Minnie, but, fortunately, we haven’t had anything crazy happen in the Austin area recently, at all (knock on my wood head ;)).
The Dallas and Houston areas have been slammed though, as you’ve seen.
We pray for those who have passed, and to all affected.
We’ve had some rain, so the humidity is sky high.
Yesterday we reached a static high of 101, with a real feel of 117 in our hood.
Much cooler today…currently 84 with a real feel of only 98…!!!!! :hilarious:

I think sometimes the weather people exaggerate a bit with their charts, etc. On a few of them, Austin was in one of the worst areas. So, I'm glad that it was just the graphs shown, that were overextended.

Yep, I had two hospice nurses visit MIL this morning. One for a general checkup, and the other to bathe her. Both did good jobs, but needed to scoot ASAP because they had other visits, and were tryin’ to stay ahead of predicted bad weather.
To be fair, it did look pretty ominous this morning, but it’s perfectly sunny, if not a bit windy right now.
The weather people these days always seem to be in CYA mode…they’re damned if they do, and damned if they don’t…!!!!! 🤪:hilarious:

This is the last week of school. Today was our service project day for the middle school students. The guidance counselor and I organize this day and this year we had 151 students to place at work sites. It was a challenge to coordinate it but we did it even though there was some rain in the forecast today and two sites cancelled last minute. Luckily it all worked out in the end and I hope the kids learned something about service to others. I personally supervised one group of kids in the morning at a local church and they helped out with that church's quilting group and then in the afternoon I supervised kids at our local food shelf. We had kids cleaning some local trails, at the human society, and local historical museum just to name a few places. All the students ended the day with sodas, chips, and ice cream sandwiches!

Only a day and a half left with students this year. Tomorrow we take the kids that passed their classes to a regional amusement park and our half day on Thursday will be locker clean out, awards, and a picnic in the park. It has been a long school year and quite challenging at time but I guess in the end it was a good year.

They tell me it is a lot like having a baby, hurts at the time, but eventually the pain is forgotten. If it wasn't for that forgetfulness, the nation would be loaded with only child households.

Congratulations on all of the above. Well done. (I'm impressed with the service project day for middle school students. Wish that was something my school did, back when I was their age.)
