Recently saw a picture of him and it almost makes me want to cry. I don't mind getting old but I absolutely hate, hate and hate aging. It seems so unnecessary. We all have to go eventually but I see no reason to have to age physically. We should be able to stay in some relatively healthy state and just wake up dead some morning. The other crap is just for raising expectations. Rant over!

Bob Newhart was still acting in 2020 at age 89. No such thing as retirement for him! One actor that looks incredible is Carol Burnett age 90 recently was on the Kelly Clarkson show a few weeks ago.

Sad news my son's golden retriever not quit 8 years old has be diagnosed with lymphoma. Elleemae is the sweetest dog - my son and his wife live 2 blocks over so I spend a lot of time with her she loves to ride in my truck and we spend hours sitting on our front porch looking at birds and squirrels and people walking by. My heart is aching I will miss her so much --Here I am a 6'3 215lb guy and every time I think of her gone tears well up. I've had Goldens my whole adult life --cancer sucks in people and dogs-- I want a puppy so bad- wife says we're too old I keep telling her I'm only 74 Sorry for the rant just feeling really low

So sorry. I lost a cat to a brain tumor; it's so rough watching them deteriorate.

As for puppies, there are lots of older dogs in shelters that also need homes. One of my friends had a golden growing up that someone had abandoned and was going to be put down the day that his dad went to the shelter; she was the sweetest dog.

Well, he’ll be 95 in Sept., and we all age differently (genetics, stress, both physical and mental/emotional trauma, diet, weight, sleep habits, and the list goes on), so there’s that.

Yep, she’ll be 91 later this month, and still looks pretty good for her age.
Although, she’s definitely visibly aged more since she did the below commercial for MeTV about 5 years ago…

Physical aging is a drag. But I'm far more concerned that I have my brain operating on all cylinders, by the time I get to his age. That's waaaay more important to me.

Obviously Bob Newhart's two iconic shows are enough for one actor, but he also had a very good guest role on NCIS a few years ago, playing the medical examiner's predecessor, then suffering from Alzheimer's. In the last couple of years or so, NCIS did a flashback episode to around 1980, when Newhart's character would still have been on the job and not suffering from Alzheimer's at that time. Because Newhart was so great previously in the role as the older version of the character, NCIS' casting people for this episode had to find someone to play the middle aged version of the character who sort of looks like Newhart, but more importantly sounded like him.

I haven't watched any of the series that Carol Burnett is in where she is apparently in a coma most of the time. It also stars Kristen Wiig, who I've always thought of as the only actress that could possibly do the type and range of stuff that Carol Burnett did. I hope the series has some scenes with them together where Carol Burnett is at least awake. Those two could be a riot together.

So very sorry to hear this news.
Hopefully, there is still some quality time left to be spent with her, and that she doesn’t suffer.
