Store bought / restaurant salsa and salty chips is a recipe for a high sodium snack, appetizer which can lead to increase BP etc. When we go to our fav Mexican place we pass on the deep fried tortilla chips and salsa served table side.
I love chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant (although, I haven't been to one in about a year). Reason why I love the restaurant chips is because they always heat them up, and bring to the table. Nope -- can't resist those with salsa! ;)

On an automotive note, my “free” ride finally bought the farm, after being 21+ years old…blown head gasket. Shop let me know yesterday afternoon. Estimated repair cost is 5-7K. Not gonna’ happen. I’ll now drive Carolyn’s Camry, and we’ll find her a newer ride.
The dude at the shop knows a guy who buys cars and fixes them up to sell. Should be able to get 1-1.5K for it. A junk yard probably wouldn’t even give me $500 for it.
Oh well, I definitely got my money’s worth outta’ that Malibu…!!! :)
Good and bad there. Too bad that it finally hit the skids at 21 + years old. That's quite a run!! Would be great if you could get 1- 1.5K for it, fixed up a bit. As you said, a junk yard wouldn't give you $500 for it.

Note: our last car wasn't worth fixing at the end either, and we knew that a junk yard might give us a hundred, tops, for salvage. Instead, I chose to donate the car to the Viet Nam Veterans on America, thinking that they might get a $100 donation for the metal. Funny thing is that the car auction place (out in western MA) actually got a $700 bid for it!! :D (Now, they take their own chunk of money for their auction services, but I figure that the veterans charity group probably got at least a $250-300 donation out of it. )

Yea, I’ve driven every car we’ve had, since back when we started our family, ‘til it dropped…!!!!! :hilarious:
I’ve always made sure Carolyn has the nicer vehicle. I just, mostly, need to get to work and back (and TSSFFBRs…!!!!! :hilarious:;)) as inexpensively, efficient, and reliable as makes sense.
Many say cars are not an investment. I say otherwise, as I need one to get to my job and back…!!! ;)

The Mexican restaurant inside the pyramid at Epcot had complimentary good chips and salsa (in moderation for me ) for many years. A few years ago the location eliminated the offering. Now one can order the chips/salsa/guacamole offering for a price.

Wow, never had an upcharge at a Mexican restaurant for chips and salsa, to start off a meal. (I wonder if there's more to it, in the pyramid. Maybe they're trying to discourage people from lingering a bit longer at their table, over chips & salsa, so that they can fit in more guests at dinnertime?)

All Mexican restaurants at WDW now charge for chips and salsa. Most likely to blame are the guests who - due to some online “insider tip” (“How to eat cheap at Disney!!”) - went to those restaurants and only ordered drinks, no food. (“Hey, the chips and salsa are FREE guys!!”)

It’s the same reason California Grill went prix fixe (guests were ordering one appetizer or dessert - to share - and ordering nothing else, just to “watch the fireworks”). And why Be Our Guest no longer offers quick service breakfast or lunch (guests were ordering just a cupcake or two and helping themselves to the “free beverage station” - since cups were available there - so they could see “inside Beast’s castle”).

Abusers are typically the reason we can’t have nice things anymore (see “toppings bar” 😉).

I'd say cost savings no more free chips and salsa for WDW/Mexico dining location and quicker you eat the quicker you leave so other guests waiting for a table get in especially when a number of guests are on a tight schedule in the parks.

Booked our summer vacation today! We're going to Bavaria/Austria. We've been to Bavaria before to see Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, but we LOVE the area, so we'll stop in Füssen for 2 days, then head East towards Salzburg and stay in a town just over the German border because it's so much cheaper. We'll stop and see the Herrenchiemsee palace on our way. Now we just need to decide what we want to see in Salzburg. We're thinking for sure the fortress, and the Mirabell palace where a lot of the Sound of Music scenes were filmed, and possibly the zoo, the open air museum, maybe the saltmines. I also want to see Mozart's birthplace and residence, and take a boat tour. And there's a palace with trick fountains, though I can't find anything about what the "tricks" are. There are also some ice caves that look cool. Anyway, we're only going for a week, just to celebrate the kids' high school graduations. But it will be fun!

Annies Song is my favorite

Honestly, I almost posted both, because it’s also a favorite of mine, but, I didn’t want to overload…! ;)
When our oldest daughter (Megan) was in 3rd grade, I would go to her class on half-day Fridays and play a few songs. This one kiddo would always request “Leaving on a Jet Plane”, and would cry every time…but, she always requested it.
Megan ran into her recently, and she asked if I still played that song…!!!!! :hilarious:
That’s what got me goin’ down John Denver memory lane…!!!!! 😅

Austria is a beautiful country. It's been more years than I care to remember since I went but I can still remember how pretty it was . I hope you have a great vacation.
