In other news, I was thinking of getting a standing desk thingy for at home. One of those things that you put your monitors and keyboard on and it raises them up so you can stand while you work.

Until it occurred to me that at my height, I actually don't need one of those things. Getting a monitor stand and then raising the monitor's neck to its maximum height when I want to stand will accomplish the same thing. I just need to figure out something to put the keyboard/mouse on.

Also my reaction at this discovery...

You can always get one of these for when you have to deal with total clowns in your office... so you can do "clown to clown communication" by going down to their level XD

The roar of the engines is something else at Daytona. I miss visiting MK when there was the Richard Petty Speedway in the parking lot where guests can ride with drivers around the oval track. It closed shortly after the fatal accident. I could hear the roar of the cars very clearly when parking at MK.
Some guests didn't like the speedway, due to the noise. Luckily, I was able to get a ride-along on that track, a few years prior to its shut down, in 2015. That was fun! (Due to the short track style, it wasn't quite as thrilling as the ride-along at Daytona, but it was still a blast. :joyfull: ) The crew that worked there were very nice as well.

It kinda broke the Polynesian illusion when you had a Garden View room and you could hear the cars wizzing around the track. :hilarious:

aww my parents dog will most likely be put down soon. He's apparently getting an ultrasound currently for a type of Lyme disease that they don't give dogs vaccines for. He's 15 so the odds of money be spent if it's bad is very slim.
Sorry to hear that. Hoping that he can continue to lead a reasonably comfortable life, until a clear diagnostic test from the vet, provides more clarity.

So far I haven't encountered any stupid people at work. I'm sure I'll figure out eventually who they are, lol. The only issue I had was when AP didn't understand what I meant when I told them to expense an item instead of putting it to prepaid. Which is an accounting 101 concept, but honestly, not understanding accounting is pretty par for the course for AP people. Most AP people I've worked with, unless they have aspirations of being accountants, pretty much just enter data without thinking about it too much. I learned in the future how to change my verbiage so that they understand for this particular company. But honestly, pretty minor. I'm sure I'll encounter the stupidity at some point.

My last job it took me a few months, and I figured out who THAT person was when she decided to enter an order for negative $14k in profit. I was able to fix it, but I was like, what are you doing??? She was a total pain until she finally quit before they could fire her.

Your observations are spot on. I never made the connection before, but the full service ones are all located in a nearby very wealthy town. 🤔 (Self-serve only in my working class area! ;) )

Yep, no full service in our “hood” either…!!! ;)
The last time I even remember going to a full service gas station was in my childhood, of course, but, I’ve been pumping my own gas since I got my learners permit in ‘77.
Since most “motorists” apparently dressed like the below image back in the day, it’s no wonder they wanted nothing to do with any of the nasty automobile happenings outside of the passenger compartment…!!!!! :hilarious:

About half the people at our firm have those. I, personally, don’t want anything to do with standing behind my drafting table again, like way back when, with our tall drafting tables and stools. You sat on the tall stool about half the time, and then stood the other half of the time to reach the upper portions of the drawing you were working on.
Both my drafting table and computer work station are now low, and I can easily roll back and forth between them, as needed.
Plus, I’m too old for that standing workstation crap…!!!!! :D :hilarious:

I remember when that accident happened. Wasn’t a barrier kinda’ facing in the wrong direction, or the car was going in the wrong direction for the way the barrier was placed…?!

A guest was driving a Lamborghini and with the instructor as the passenger. The guest lost control at high speed and struck a barrier on the track and the Richard Petty driving instructor was killed instantly.
